@@mylesr6119 thanks. Sorry I don’t think I explained that part well enough. The lid isn’t hinged but I cut the shoulder/rabbet in the back 1/8th in deeper and did the same on just a small portions of the side rabbets. This creates a groove for the lid to sit in when you flip it up but I can still take the lid all the way off
Great vid, I enjoyed watching it. Lovely box. Just one question if I may. Will the solid base that has been glued in, be prone to splitting over time? Thanks.
@@geoff4791 thanks! I don’t believe wood movement will be a problem. If you use good dry straight grain wood and in this case the board is only a few inches wide. There won’t be any noticeable movement. If I were making a large table top, cupboard, or dresser I would be concerned with wood movement
Absolutely beautiful!!!

Love this video.
You are a beast with that hand saw!
The box turned out great.
@@skippylippy547 thank you! If I had to re saw any more than that, the bandsaw was coming on!! Lol
Nice easy project for hand tools, except for the resawing that you did. - Chris
@@fcschoenthal truth!! I love hand tool woodworking but resawing is not fun at all! I wonder if a frame saw makes it any easier.
Perfect job!
@@VORONM thank you! I really enjoyed the chair you recently made and the small belt grinder you use looks like a great tool to have!
Nice, I like it.......did I miss how you did the hinge, looked twice and didn't see it ?
