So true- I hate when choirs hold music. It feels like such an excuse because the musicianship and true performing joy that happens with memorized music is unparallelled.
My soul was anchored and still is being anchored in the Lord every day and will never stop as long as I live and pray for all those who need prayer, help, food, and the art of listening without interruption - then add "let's pray together".
This is beyond amazing. The blend, the dynamics, the style n approach are all right on point. However, every facial expression is zombie like. All this gorgeous sound and no conviction whatsoever.
Everyone's a critic. Do not pay heed to the critics. You have a beautiful choir. And to all the haters. If they didn't enjoy singing they would be up there doing so.
Damn. Calm down. No chior is perfect and id like to see some more movement. The singing is great. But idk how you sing a soul song and just stand still
Let's just take a moment to acknowledge that Dr Clausen is just the most oustanding conductor! 30 years I've been conducting choirs and could only dream of this level of technical control and skill. Awesome choral sound also.
Outstanding rendition of this Moses Hogan classic. The clarity of the diction and the involvement and passion of the singers make these notes jump off the page. Tremendous performance by a top-notch college choir!
The smallest tenor in the back row in our right is about to dance he's having so much fun. We sang this as a encore after a Sunday afternoon concert at our church years ago. We had the voices to pull it off. It was a complete blast. I think we sang it a little quicker than this.
Not gonna lie, when I clicked the video and saw one person of color in the entire choir and they were singing a Moses hogan piece I was a little skeptical. That just blew my mind. I love this!
Carol Coles Perfection in the most wonderful rendition I have heard in years. We have all types of groups in this day and age. But this type is perfect precision and not easy to do at all - but this is so outstanding that nothing can describe this perfection. Blessings to Concordia Choir..
I don't even think God himself could pull their attention from that director.! This was so clean and crisp. This man literally controlled this choir with his 2 hands....absolutely amazing and spendid. Does it take away a pinch from the soul essence of the piece...slightly....but for this predominantly white choir, this has been AMAZING!
We as humans as the world stands today, can only pray, forgive, and look up to our God and as for understanding and forgiveness, because our time is very short as the world stands today. Blessings to one and all, Caro Coles, Author
I saw this live and it was even more amazing. It's hard to find a recording that does the Concordia Choir justice. One has to see them live to get the full experience. (this is about 90% of the way there)
My 9th and 10th grade choir, and chamber choir is singing this in the spring with our orchestra accompaniment and it is going to sound so powerful with soprano 1 &2 alto tenor and bases. We have so much talent in our class it is very exciting
Beautiful piece, amazing balance in the choir despite the facial expressions of the choir not being expressive of the message they singing. But the audio on its own is splendid.
literally only here bc my choir (who also won the madrigal festival this year) sang this as one of their main pieces for a bunch of competitions they did and i’ve absolutely fallen in love with it
I'm glad the you found the right place for you Patrick. It is always hard to hear something harsh about your beloved alma mater...but then no place or no person is perfect. I appreciate your response.
I really hope I can meet René Clausen again in the future. He was the conductor for my Honors Choir last year and he was amazing. I admire him endlessly and hope I can tell him that in the future.
my high school woman's choir is singing this song for a concert I love this we are just now starting to learn the notes it's going to be so awesome e when we are ready!! xD
Okay, the six dislikes were either poor aim or haters. While I wish Concordia had at least 1 real black gospel singer in each of its 8 sections to really put the extra kick into it, this performance was technically flawless and still very passionate and deep.
Hello Tom! We do actually have this track available on our album "The Worlds Above." If you would like to purchase a copy, it can be found here: www.cobberbookstore.com/shop_product_detail.asp?catalog_group_id=MTY&catalog_group_name=R2lmdHM&catalog_id=470&catalog_name=TXVzaWMvQ29uY29yZGlhIFJlY29yZGluZ3M&pf_id=1277&product_name=Q2QzNTEwIFRoZSBXb3JsZHMgQWJvdmU&type=1&target=shop_product_list.asp
This is by far the cleanest rendition that I've come across since learning this song.
Agree! it's amazing.
they slowed it down, i realize. i wonder if that helped with dynamic execution?
@@dannideville8002 Definitely, It allows for better diction so you can associate the notes/dynamic markings to words a lot easier
I toooo
Pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
As a bass singer, I love the E we hit as a bass solo! It's so powerful!
Andrew O'Brien Were you part of the choir?
It’s actually an E flat
Boundary this is in A minor there’s no way that’s an e flat
Blanzi yea sorry I was thinking of a transposed version I sang once.
@@LanziBen they're singing this in a flat minor.
Can we just acknowledge how great choirs sound when they are memorized??? They actually watch a conductor!
So true- I hate when choirs hold music. It feels like such an excuse because the musicianship and true performing joy that happens with memorized music is unparallelled.
I LOVE THE ALLELUHAH WILL YOU PRAISE HIM PART!!!!
YAaaaaaaaaas!
Tandrea Toliver SAME!!!
Best part in the piece!
My soul was anchored and still is being anchored in the Lord every day and will never stop as long as I live and pray for all those who need prayer, help, food, and the art of listening without interruption - then add "let's pray together".
0:32 - Yes BASSES!!!!
The most quintessential arrangement of this song. This Choir Master deserves an award.
Damn, they've got some altos.
Yes the do! Including my daughter. Check out this piece featuring the altos: ua-cam.com/video/5om8aDkfgys/v-deo.html
Whew
as soon as i read this comment i got the "allelujah" from the altos and it gave me CHILLS.
This is beyond amazing. The blend, the dynamics, the style n approach are all right on point. However, every facial expression is zombie like. All this gorgeous sound and no conviction whatsoever.
^^ Yes
+Myndja Bizness Still waters run deep. I share your pleasure at the gorgeous, spirited sound.
+Myndja Bizness It's the Scandinavian way ;)
Blame the conductor who wanted it exactly this way.
i saw a few individuals showing emotion...everyone has their own way, i suppose.
Come on guys stop hating. This is real talent
Kamala Lilliane Kechula it’s not hate, it’s constructive criticism.
Everyone's a critic. Do not pay heed to the critics. You have a beautiful choir. And to all the haters. If they didn't enjoy singing they would be up there doing so.
"It's not a lie; if you believe it."
-George Costanza
Damn. Calm down. No chior is perfect and id like to see some more movement. The singing is great. But idk how you sing a soul song and just stand still
You may be a small choir, but the music that you produce from your vocals is beautiful and powerful. We are singing this at the Kimmel Center
Yeah. Look at a madrigal chior to see small
Small choir?? Lol gosh. The choir used to be on had like 6 people in it including myself.
Let's just take a moment to acknowledge that Dr Clausen is just the most oustanding conductor! 30 years I've been conducting choirs and could only dream of this level of technical control and skill. Awesome choral sound also.
The dynamics are what drives this piece so well. Such good blend and intonation. Great director to get them all on the same page here. Great job.
I'm not even religious and I can agree that this song is absolutely beautiful ... kudos to this choir who sang it so perfectly!!
That hit it and quit it soprano note at the end yass
LMAO!!! Love that
They may look like a mostly pasty white bunch, but they's passion in they voices!
Josh Jones 😂😂
Its Moorehead Minnesota one of the best choral traditions in the country!
Outstanding rendition of this Moses Hogan classic. The clarity of the diction and the involvement and passion of the singers make these notes jump off the page. Tremendous performance by a top-notch college choir!
Slower tempo than most African American choirs, but just as effective. Rhythms are clearly executed! Wonderful!
They try very hard t be service to the text, too fast and it is hard for some to follow
I love this so much AHHHH LORD!! You are so powerful
The smallest tenor in the back row in our right is about to dance he's having so much fun. We sang this as a encore after a Sunday afternoon concert at our church years ago. We had the voices to pull it off. It was a complete blast. I think we sang it a little quicker than this.
Please credit the composer... the late Moses Hogan (1957-2003), an amazing person and musician. He has left us a blessed musical legacy.
And left us too soon.
May he Rest In Peace! I had the pleasure of performing under him a year before he passed!
Favorite part of the song is the end where the sopranos hold the A and then go up to that C….. chills man.
I had the pleasure of hearing Rene’s choirs twice on tour. A real treat!
Not gonna lie, when I clicked the video and saw one person of color in the entire choir and they were singing a Moses hogan piece I was a little skeptical. That just blew my mind. I love this!
Just as I remember singing in the Concordia Choir over 40 years ago!
If you take it to a speed of 1.25 it's so moving
A great one by Moses Hogan.
Carol Coles
Perfection in the most wonderful rendition I have heard in years. We have all types of groups in this day and age. But this type is perfect precision and not easy to do at all - but this is so outstanding that nothing can describe this perfection. Blessings to Concordia Choir..
I miss my choir!
Oh my bass 2 they are so good tenor 2 is also very well done.
Perfect! pitch, tune, harmony..the best of them all! Go MN!
We sang this at the Louisiana state choir competition and won it
This will forever be one of my favorite pieces of choir music. I only got to sing the TTBB version but this one is great as well.
We as humans as the world stands today, can only pray, forgive, and look up to our God and as for understanding and forgiveness, because our time is very short as the world stands today. Blessings to one and all, Caro Coles, Author
This is beautiful and extremely clean, I just wish we had more soul and maybe stronger consontants
I saw this live and it was even more amazing. It's hard to find a recording that does the Concordia Choir justice. One has to see them live to get the full experience. (this is about 90% of the way there)
That low bass note at 0:32 😍
Fantastic. One of the better versions.
Powerful!!! I love it. I feel the Holy Spirit in this song!!!
Amazing choir and choir director, bravo!
My 9th and 10th grade choir, and chamber choir is singing this in the spring with our orchestra accompaniment and it is going to sound so powerful with soprano 1 &2 alto tenor and bases. We have so much talent in our class it is very exciting
Just sang this song with the Concordia choir on their tour. I’m not in the choir, but our high school got to sing with them.
In a couple days, my choir will be singing this song in the Vatican during communion! Super excited!
This song always brings emotional tears to my eyes... beautifully rendered... thanks for sharing
i'm watching with the music sheets right now,
it's more harder to sing it than just hear it.
what a song-
ah, the good ol' days when there used to be choirs and choir concerts
Absolutely love Concordia!!! Cannot wait until they get back to the Fort Smith Arkansas area again!!! Great job, choir!
I hate to agree, but the only choirs that give me true chills are in constant, yet subtle, motion. That is the music of LIFE.
Beautiful piece, amazing balance in the choir despite the facial expressions of the choir not being expressive of the message they singing. But the audio on its own is splendid.
THIS is PERFECTION.
literally only here bc my choir (who also won the madrigal festival this year) sang this as one of their main pieces for a bunch of competitions they did and i’ve absolutely fallen in love with it
I love how fast this goes and the dynamics that go with it!
chills every single time
I love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so many memories from school where we did this exact arrangement!!
Amazingly clean rendition
Just preformed this song in concordia college. Was an amazing experience. Go soprano 1s!
My favourite sounding choir! Wish I could have a choir with such sound one day!
Beautiful human harmony.
one of my favorite parts is 2:25. i just think that sounds so awesome. love this song so much
Excellent! He and his Chorale would have been proud!
Who on earth is this conductor?!?! He is unbelievably good!
Pedro Ramos Rene Clausen
oh my god i want to sing with this choir.
I hope the performance of this we are going to do will be as clean and in tune as this choir’s performance.
amazing rendition. clean runs, pristine dynamics.
This is an awesome rendition...speechless!
Great job! Singing this song!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful Job! I remember doing this piece when I was in Concert choir at WHS in Sioux Falls, SD (many years ago)
This is a fabulous performance.
The 1st Sopranos hold their last note for 20 counts. :O
I'm glad the you found the right place for you Patrick. It is always hard to hear something harsh about your beloved alma mater...but then no place or no person is perfect.
I appreciate your response.
wow this is way better than the way we are singing
We r singing this for our show choir at school and let me tell ya, this is AMAZING!
I can remember my director working with us for this rendition ohh what memories
I really hope I can meet René Clausen again in the future. He was the conductor for my Honors Choir last year and he was amazing. I admire him endlessly and hope I can tell him that in the future.
This sends chills down my spine
simply briliant rendition
My choir loves doing this song.
What a great interpretation! Congrads! Greetings from Slovenia :)
my high school woman's choir is singing this song for a concert I love this we are just now starting to learn the notes it's going to be so awesome e when we are ready!! xD
Gorgeous 😍😍 such a nice blend

Wow they really did that 😍
Best choir in the world. Fertile Beltrami is best high school choir.
This song will our song too in our Competition in Roxas..
I'm Soprano 2.
beautiful, spine tingling ending
This is seriously amazing
Okay, the six dislikes were either poor aim or haters. While I wish Concordia had at least 1 real black gospel singer in each of its 8 sections to really put the extra kick into it, this performance was technically flawless and still very passionate and deep.
Very fine interpretation!
Love the basses
Bravisisisimo!!!!!haleruija!!!!
its really awesome
We are singing this in our Women's Choir, & I have NO idea how we are going to pull it off.
Actually we are doing an SSA arrangement!
SSAA I meant
My choir did this song two years ago. Incredible piece. We did SATB arrangement
Well done!!! Wonderful sound.
Beautiful...
VERY Well Balanced! LOVED It!!
O God .. This great song
Man, I wish this track was available somewhere.
