I absolutely adore this sequence. David Burke is so good, and oh so adorable. It's great to see Watson making a naughty breech of etiquette for a change. Those facial expressions are unbeatable. And that laugh is just splendid! ;-D

THIS is the biggest story element missing from both Sherlock and Elementary. I love both shows in their own way due to my decades of devotion to Sherlock Holmes , but they both missed adding the one canon aspect and that is Sherlock didn't just do murders or important cases. He loved being challenged and anything that was out of the ordinary intrigued him. This especially hurt Elementary, especially since both leads are awesome comedic actors and I think it would have helped the ratings and it would have stayed on the air a bit longer. Not that I wanted them to turn into comedies , but having a few episodes that were less horrific and more comedic in nature would have been fun and created more interest, IMO. But what do I know?
I dunno about Elementary, but with Sherlock, I think the biggest missing element is just the humanity. They made Sherlock into a monster, where he actually had a heart of gold. Sherlock isn't cruel, he's just a weirdo by Victorian/Edwardian standards. Jeremy Brett liked to teach people his methods and get them to think on his level, while Cumberbatch's Holmes mocked people for not being as smart as him. Not really the actor's fault, but the writing on that show was just so frusterating.
It was indeed a funny reaction to a funny incident which makes me laugh my back off. But the part which moves me the most is what Mr.Jaybz said after both of them had a good laugh. He says that he came to Holmes, having heard Holmes' great reputation of helping poor people in distress. It was the most genuine comment that touched Holmes in the episode.
Hey I never noticed that before. Holmes getting Jaybez (srry for my spelling if i got it wrong) to stay, while Watson takes a few more moments to collect himself. :D
Roger Hammond was a brilliant Jabez Wilson and made the character unforgettable. Also of note was the Agra phobic bookmaker in an episode of Minder and the doctor who treated George III in the Madness of King George and so much other work over the decades.

That look at 2:08, really says it all. Holmes was silently warning Watson not to laugh and Watson telling Holmes, "I don't care." :D
