Best use of dolphins in a video since Estranged. I also like how at the bar behind you the Jack Daniels is full but the Pimms bottle is empty...rock n roll!
They definitely have a BTBAM-esque sound, but also a Sleep/Electric Wizard tinge, and maybe cynic had a little influence in there too...whatever. To me, they sound a lot like Mastodon with a jazzy/sludge boost.
I watched the 'fast worms video', certainly interesting enough to keep my attention! I felt the song got better as it went on, but wether Im going to have the time or patience to listen to the album is another thing, there have been so many incredible albums this year!
"listen hard and review"," atmospherid and jazzy" key words, i'll gonna listen the album, you sam are a pro, an amazing channel, greeting from valdivia, chile!.
If you like jazz fusion, post-rock/metal, Tool, Meshuggah, and Isis (the band), you'll like intronaut. Very ambient & extremely musical. Not Djent & Not a metalcore band trying to be prog like BTBAM. You may not feel as much as their other records, but still plenty of ambient fused prog. Desierves much more than a 1/2. Deff one of the best metal releases of 2015
Love that you're wearing a Death Angel shirt while reviewing this, as that band is probably one of the better examples of what you mean by "feeling the music" over "thinking" about it. Personally I love Intronaut, and what they do, so I'm admittedly biased.... but respectfully, I disagree with a lot that is said here. I read some other review, can't remember where, which mentioned something to the effect that this is one of those "green records that doesn't require a lot of green," which I understood to mean as "stoner metal" that doesn't require a lot of smoking. As a stoner metal fan who doesn't smoke, (and also doesn't judge.... I just get paranoid easily, I swear!) I'd totally agree with that sentiment. This is a surprisingly accessible album by these guys. Parts of "Fast Worms" and "Digital Gerrymandering" sound so TOOL-ish that they're downright radio-friendly. Almost. Anyway, killer review, as always!!! Agree or disagree, I just love that someone is giving metal the intellectual consideration that you are. Love the series!! As for future review requests; in keeping with the Los Angeles theme established here with Intronaut, how about a review of the new Behold! The Monolith album? I loved the first two, and the tragic circumstances of Kevin McDade's death have made for an especially heavy listening experience with this new one, for me. I'd love to hear what you think. Either way, keep doing your thing man!!! Huge fan, -Will
Thanks Sam! And congratulations for the banger channel! I met you once at YYZ 4 or 5 years ago. I will look for the picture. Could you please review Undying evil or Live by fire from Enforcer and Girl with the raven mask from Avatarium?
yeah, their style(proggy/sludgy) is great, but the execution(songwriting) is not my favorite. Review Sumac - What One Becomes, or at least listen to it if you haven't, because it is an AMAZING metal album.
I'd love it if you do a few retrospective reviews. Would love your take on a some of the genres greatest, overlooked or downright appalling albums. That being said, what are your thoughts on the new distribution model adopted by Protest The Hero?
Agree. I think that something lack on this album, or maybe something is so much, I like Intronaut, I like the band, but this 2015´s album was too much, I think maybe is an epic album like you said, with a great musicians but... I really prefer the "Prehistoricisms" if I wanna listen to this peculiar band.

+Ben NG Yeah can we talk about this Sam? I'm thinking you'll be rating almost everything 1/2 skulls, as 0 skulls is the worst album and 2/2 skulls is the best album ever.
Yeah I don't see how it's very useful. There are only three possibilities for a rating: worst, best and something in between. I feel like most albums are neither the worst nor best, so I just foresee everything getting 1 skull. I don't know how informative that is. I guess I would like to know the rationale why not to utilize a 5 or 10 skull rating system.
+AdmiralAckbar I've always disliked the five stars or ten point ratings, because you can't really compare different albums anyway, as it's all subjective. The words in the actual review tell much more about the music. I'd still give 5 out of 5 for this album.
Love your channel man but please get the song titles right. Song is "Fast Worms" And Intornaut, if you haven't seen them, will blow you away. Not to mention I got a chance to meet all 4 of them and they are badass, chill guys.
I don't understand how you can make a UA-cam review video for a record and get so much wrong (Fast Worms, not First Worms + 2nd track is Digital Gerrymandering, not Track 5, Sul Ponticello). The guy's opinion is fine and all, whatever, I just don't get it. Idk, maybe I'm an asshole, but it's a total pet peave of mine. Same with wrong tabs. If you make a vid called Intronaut - The Direction of Last Things REVIEW, then say "Fast Worms" is track one. Then say Sul Ponticello is track five, or talk about digital gerrymandering if you're gonna talk about track two, just get it right. Take the 10 SECONDS of research to figure that out at least. Then make your shitty video. Hahahaha okay, I'm an asshole now. That last part was a joke, but I am already ranting so whatevs. This record is amazing.
Chris Laronga I agree I was confused on how a mistake like "first worms" was made but when he was taking about Sul Ponticello he was just saying it was the second song he wanted to talk about (out of the three songs he wanted to talk about, which were FAST worms, Sul Ponticello, and the title track). He never said Sul was the second track on the album.
Fast Worms
I don't understand why you didn't mention Isis (the band, not the terrorists) as their influences. For me it sounds so obvious.
I feel like they have more in common with post-metal/sludge than BTBAM, AAL, or Meshuggah.
+Thad White I mean, they are touring with BTBAM currently...
+Dylan James Ne Obliv. is touring with Butcher Babies your argument is irrelevant
Thad White Lester o'hara Ah I see. Thanks guys
Thad White not irrelevant but invalid
Dylan James I apologize, my reply came off pretty harsh. I didn't mean for it to be. I just think Intronaut has a unique sound (in my opinion)
Awww cmon dude, you missed Digital Gerrymandering! That song has one of the best openings.
Sickest record I’ve heard in the last 8 years or so. Mind bending band
No one really reviews albums and bands like this. Its awesome. thanks sam
So happy to see the direction this channel is going! Keep up the solid work guys!
Best use of dolphins in a video since Estranged. I also like how at the bar behind you the Jack Daniels is full but the Pimms bottle is empty...rock n roll!
Great choice for review! please keep doing these reviews!!
Leprous - Bilateral
please review something from the recent catalog of anaal nathrakh!! also gorefest's "erase" pretty unique album for 90's death metal!
They definitely have a BTBAM-esque sound, but also a Sleep/Electric Wizard tinge, and maybe cynic had a little influence in there too...whatever. To me, they sound a lot like Mastodon with a jazzy/sludge boost.
Just as a general comment: "I'm with ya Sam". This should be THE channel for all things metal!
I watched the 'fast worms video', certainly interesting enough to keep my attention! I felt the song got better as it went on, but wether Im going to have the time or patience to listen to the album is another thing, there have been so many incredible albums this year!
Awesome channel! Subscribing!!!

Sam, what is your opinion on Raise Hell, Burweed, Black Fast, Byzantine? They all have great latest albums!

funny I actually found this album quite emotional, and it makes me want to dance especially after a spiff.
Sounds like Mastodon related music.
Agree. You mean FAST WORMS
I loved this album . Reminded me of Isis the band
At the risk of sounding self serving (which it is ) but how do I get my cd reviewed by you?
Fast Worms....not 1st Worms?
Wait...you're ranking on a two point (skull) system?
+Ben NG Yeah can we talk about this Sam? I'm thinking you'll be rating almost everything 1/2 skulls, as 0 skulls is the worst album and 2/2 skulls is the best album ever.
It's a crap!

Review the latest Cattle Decap!
You already reviewed Firespawn's new album so how about you review the new Revenge record. It's one savage beast of an album.
Greetings, Sam! it would be great to review last Morothead record. Cheers from Russia.
7 out of 5
Why you review songs, while you struggle to obtain the right name for the song? 😂 why
Top notch band
