As an atheist I don't have the problems of what some mythological God thinks. I've always loved Chely's music, and it's wonderful to know she's just as beautiful a human being too!

This is \ a great interview, but parts of it make me very disappointed in country music. So uncool that the Opry hasn't asked her back yet and for people in the industry not to support her. She's an artist and a person just like all the other artists, and that's really all that should matter to anybody who wants anything to do with her career-wise or otherwise.

The reason (as it should be) the industry and many fans (including me) don't support her is because country music is about traditional beliefs and and values that's just a matter of fact. Now, that's generally speaking of course, but even straying slightly, country music roots have been that way from the start. Our music talks about real life, but typically stays out of controversy. Some see that as "safe" and I think that's good. I'd really like to turn on the radio and not hear a song about something I just watched on the news. Tell a specific story and even talk about an agenda. I don't know in all honesty, i can get complicated really fast IF we compromise what country music is all about. She's the center of some controversy and she CHOSE an industry that makes things "complicated" to put it mildly. Looks, there's nothing "traditional" about being gay or transgender or anything like that. Now, as times change and agenda's and political divisiveness continues to divide (look at the date of my response here), there will be a lot more passionate debate about sacred issues like this. It's very emotional for many because sexuality is sacred, which is why it shouldn't be twisted against any Divine design that God intended for in the first place and that's exactly what Chely has done. I can't in good conscious support her for that even though I absolutely love her songs. So, yes, I continue to listen to her old stuff that I've already purchased, but I won't be going to any of her concerts any time soon. If I had responded this same response 10 years ago, I'm sure I'd receive all kinds of hateful responses right away, but since this video is so old, I don't know what kind of responses, if any, I'll get. If country music starts to wonder away from country values, it'll no longer be country music, but rather some watered down version and nothing watered down tastes right.

@justjulie37 One person I heard recently that expressed to her support was Faith Hill. I don't believe she was one of the first two, but she is definitely one who has advocated.

Country music establishment and The Opry are such hipocrites to their artists...they talk about God, and blessings, I guess if your gay, you have to get out, Like KD Lang

But the truth is, most fans really don't give a shit about all that.
