I'm anxious to hear the rest of the tunes on her new record. I love the sound of "What About Your Heart." This particular studio (Sunset Sound), is the birthplace of such amazing music - including a majority of the Dixie Chick's "Taking the Long Way" album. I've listened to her ever since her early days & I don't appreciate all forms of country music. Ever since the industry had really begun to handle her with 'kid-gloves' so to speak, I had hoped with time that Chely may evolve with her sound - potentially widening her audience beyond mainstream and alternative country. And it appears as if this new sound gives a lot of variety. There are so many artists out there today that continue to straddle genres, connect with their fans & not have to answer to the limited views and taste of radio -- particularly country radio. For example: Ani DiFranco, k.d. lang, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Terri Clark, Aimee Mann, Mandy Moore, Anna Nalick, Norah Jones, etc. In skimming the press release for Chely's new album, there are a number of musicians, engineers and players who are associated with the artists I mentioned. Like I said, I'm interested in her new music -- been waiting for a bit.
She reminds me a lot of Ashley Judd. I feel the same nervous insecurity coming from both. The little of the music I heard sounded more like a saga than a need to share exciting music with the viewers. Leaves me flat. Sorry.
Loving the sound can't wait for this album
Love what I heard. Look forward to it.
The first song at the beginning off the video pulled me in - look forward to hearing the full song.. and album
