    This is not kayaking, this is art.

    Bought exactly that kayak 3 weeks ago, it's a rolling machine. This video got me interested in the Tahe Greenland in the first place. Greg looks so relaxed floating in the water.

      how is the Zegul Greenland working out? Thinking of getting the same kayak but read some unfavorable quality reviews

    Welcome to come for a visit and if I like you I can even lend you a kayak, or two

    I woke up this morning and came across your video while sipping my coffee........what a way to start my day. I'll be taking my Valley out soon to do what you're doing (but in the warner waters of our Canadian summer). Thanks so much for this!

    It's a high definition camera where I custom adapted the housing and modified it for underwater use.

    Love it. Poetry in motion.
    The waters are always warm, he says. And crystal clear it looks like. Go on, tease us poms, rub it in, let us know what we are missing. My local water is currently 2 degrees centrigade, that would wipe the smile off of Stika...

    This looks really impressive. I guess it is so effortless due the kayak being so narrow? I'd like to see the same techniques used with a "normal" sea kayak.

    • @gnarlydog

      This low deck kayak certainly helps but he shows massive skills and flexibility. Put me in that kayak and I will have the grace of a hippopotamus: I will roll but it will be basic and ugly. Stika can roll any kayak with grace, just this one allows for more finesse and advanced technically challenging moves :-)

    • @PaavoLammikko
      @PaavoLammikko 7 років тому +1

      ;-) It certainly looks like he spends 24/7 in a kayak. Very inspiring!

    • @gnarlydog
      @gnarlydog  7 років тому

      I hear he no longer paddles :-(I am sure that some of the moves shown here will be a bit "rusty" since to get to this level ones need to practice often, as he did. Think of it as rock climbing

    Does anyone know which model of Tahe Marine he has in this video?

    • @gnarlydog
      @gnarlydog  4 роки тому +1

      Greg is using the original Greenland kayak designed by Johan Wirsen, produced by Tahe under license. Tahe's manufacturing quality deteriorated to the point that they longer were granted the license to produce that kayak but Rebel Kayaks is now making a much better (sturdier) versions of that design.

    • @TomiTuomasjukka

      gnarlydog Thanks. I am considering getting myself a Greenland kayak, any recommendations?

    • @gnarlydog
      @gnarlydog  4 роки тому +1

      @@TomiTuomasjukka if you are serious about a high-end Greenland style kayak have a look at Rebel Kayaks. There are several models to suit different size bodies and the manufacturing is outstanding. Johan Wirsen designs them and he specializes in high performance low volume kayaks. Hopefully you have a distributor in your country.

    The Reed Tuilik might add a bit of buoyancy but not as much as a neoprene one. You can always wear a PFD over if buoyancy is desired. If wet exit is a possibility then wear anything that would be insulating you in case of a swim. Ordinary clothing does not insulate when one is immersed so maybe neoprene, if the water is rather cold.
    Since my waters are always warm, the most I ever wear even in the dead of winter is a neoprene hood: it allows for quick regulation of body heat.
