No, you should not clamp the chest tube when removing it. Clamping the chest tube before removal can increase the risk of pneumothorax, as it can trap air or fluid inside the pleural space.
“Do not clamp the chest tube ever for any reason” but when there’s bubbling in the air leak monitor, you’re supposed to look for kinks/issues with the tubing, and then if theres none, don’t you clamp the tubing to determine if the issue is with the patient or the drainage device? I know you aren’t supposed to clamp for more than 1 min to avoid pneumothorax, but I believe we are supposed to clamp in the instance.
Yeah this one was a little rough. But I’m keeping up. I do want to clarify that shellfish allergy is not associated with latex allergy. I believe that has been disproven. Appreciate all the videos !
So helpful thank you ❤

HI I HAVE A QUESTION HOW ABOUT WHEN WE REMOVE THE CHEST TUBE WE ARE SUPPOSE TO CLAMP THE TUBE?
yes according to SimpleNursing, only before removing the chest tube and when getting a new one because we're replacing it or something.

We do clamp…
According to SimpleNursing we only clamp a few hrs before removing the chest tube and when we're replacing/getting a new system.
