You are an inspiration Toby! I have tried to memorize more of what I play because of you. I have a new appreciation of the Rochut etudes when played from memory. I never realized how much just reading got in the way.
I VIVIDLY remember playing in band with Toby in the early 90s. He was LIGHT YEARS ahead of all of us. (We were a fairly decorated band, as well)
🏅
"look at the moon, look at the moon" - pep band 1990, I think 🤔
Hey Toby! This is Phenomenal!
My most favorite spot is 0:04 - 5:38!!!
Ohtae Kwon thanks so much 🤗!!
Magnificent performance Toby! Crespo was Uruguayan but worked in Germany, founding the German Brass Ensemble. "Improvisación No. 1" was played last Sunday 4-26th, 2024 by Pablo Fenoglio, soloist at the Orquesta Estable del Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, after Nino Rota´s Concerto for Trombone and Orquestra.
Absolutely an excellent effort, frustrations and all. Thanks
Amazing! Such an awesome piece and masterfully played. Always inspiring to hear you play!
Excellent performance!! I truly believe this version is going to become a solid reference for us the young trombonists. Thanks Mr. Oft for sharing your talent.
Amazing!! It's so beautiful sound and technic!!!

I’ve been practicing this exact piece for over a month now and the middle section has me questioning my choices 💀 but I’m willing to keep practicing this because I want to play this so bad.
Love from a Swedish trombonist

Oh dang comments were disabled when I watched this but this is epic!
Awesome playing! ... and I am very jealous of your audio gear!
If you want the best jazz trombone sound you check out Marshall Gilkes; if you want the best classical trombone sound, you’ll find yourself at home with the phenomenal Toby Oft
Marshall Gilkes is completely amazing!!
Toby Oft initially wanted to do jazz trombone.
Nice singing throughout , Toby!
One Rocco student to another, I thank you ☺️!!
I don't want to get all hyperbolic here, so I'm just going to say wow. I feel the same way as I did the first time I heard "Fly or Die". Wow.
完美诠释。大师级!
Great performance... Rip headphone users though
That's fair 😂 - I wanted to keep the interpretation pretty raw, so I can definitely see what you're saying!
Coming back to this video for my senior year, not sure if I'll choose this piece but I'll definitely put bass boost on for it.
Great performance 👍
Those 8 thumbs down peeps need to re-think their lives.
I think it's useful to remember that this was uploaded during the pandemic. There have been a lot of mental health issues since then. These are just 9 of them crying out for help. Don't condemn them. Hug them.
@@raymondfallon7429 I appreciate that way of thinking so much, Mr. Fallon. You never know what someone is going through!
Fantastic Mr Oft! Truly beautiful....When do you plan on releasing the Bordogni’s! 😳
I have 9 more on my hard drive ready to process and put on UA-cam - Believe me, that's next in the hopper!!
Un rato más y destruye el trombón 😳

Marc needs MORE practice during self quarantine :-)
Toby you are great....... My only problem is with Crespo piece, which I consider one of the most useless ugly and senseless compositions ever wrote... You give it some sense... Great, as always...
