  • Dear friends, I am happy to release this video on reliability analysis of life data with multiple failure modes. The analysis procedure is illustrated fully in Minitab software with a real-life case study with six failure modes. The concept is that when a system fails for one failure mode at time t, this data of time is right censored data for other failure modes! Analysis in Minitab can be performed in one single command!     Hi, what is the different between Maximum Likelihood to Least Square? why do you choose Least Square?

      MLE is an analytical procedure that maximises the likelihood function using calculus. According to Robert Abernathy, MLE is appropriate when the data is large, typically more than 21. In lease square, we minimise the sum of squares of errors between observed and fitted points. Hope this helps.

      Hello Jonailson, I am not sure if I understand your question. But Weibull analysis of any data is applicable for a particular failure mode. If there are outliers in the data, it probably means that the failure modes are different for such data points and should be omitted if the failure mode is different.

    Thanks for the video. Could you please advise why in the case of the data that you presented in the video, the repairable system analysis is not better approach to use?

      Thanks for asking that question. The purpose of study was to identify priority for improving the durability by identification of the failure mode(s) having lower B10 life.

    why am I geting the following error:
    * ERROR * Least squares estimates could not be calculated for these data. There must be at
    least one distinct plot point on a probability plot for each estimated parameter.

      I cannot comment. Either some mistake in commands and options, or duevto some changes in Minitab versions.

    Difference between parametric and non parametric distributions

      The nonparametric method is used if no distribution fits. Kaplan Meier is a nonparametric alternative. See related video posted in our channel.
