It's a great film, and hopefully will get shown more - it's up there with "The Patsy" and "Show People" I think and I was glad to be part of the process of getting "Beverly" back out to fans.

.... I fell in love with silents because my older brother had to do a report on Chaplin's 'Gold Rush.' I was about 9 years old at the time (i'm 69 now) and I didn't want to go, but my mother was rarely around, and my father was on the road as a Peddler (remember those) so, I had to go....|
Today most of my friends still think I'm funny weird, but I try as I might to explain to them, that SILENTS were the ONLY TRUELY NEW ART Form in the last 10,000 years.
..... I'm mostly into the comedies, but I still love many of the other silent Dramas and Adventures too.

Marvin, thanks for sharing your story here! We're happy to have been doing the SCWP - and continue to do so - and I agree with you about the SILENTS. I think they're their own form of cinema and not a sub-genre. I'm writing a book about this that will come out next year called THE SILENT FILM UNIVERSE.
Hope films like "The Patsy" and "Getting Mary Married" are released on blu ray. The former was released on dvd-r by WB Archive Collection and the latter also on dvd-r by Grapevine. Don't know how long these dvd-r last.
I have some 20-year-old DVD-rs that play fine, and a couple years ago needed a short from the Kino Edison set, and the disc wouldn't load. "The Patsy" enters pub dom in 2024, but "GMM" is a candidate for another release - the GVine disc is SD and was rel. in 2012. A new 2K scan and digital resto of this Dwan-directed Davies would be something!
