Awesome video as always! I used to have the same problem before I bought my trim saw. My big saw was always too big to trim and to buck smaller logs. So I bought a smaller bar and chain and would switch them out. I also learned before I invested in a few wedges that if I got my bar stuck I could easily take that bar off and put my smaller one on to cut the stuck bar out. I have since grown wiser and now own a smaller saw (ms261) and wedges. Firewood is alot of work but definitely worth it's labor come winter time here in illinois. Grandpa always said "Firewood warms you twice" I never knew what that meant until I started burning wood to heat my home.
If you don't have a hook tool to dig the wood out of the bar your sqrench that you use for bar tensioning is designed to clean out the bar. If you look at it closely the better sqrenches haves a bevel that allows you to bottom it out in the bar.
JudithB I had my son start cutting trees about waist high, so it was easier for him to get away from the falling tree. After the tree was down, he would cut down lower. Also saw someone chamfer the edges of the stump so any machinery would right up and over, instead of suddenly stop on the edge. Just some random thoughts! LOL
At around 13-14 minutes the tree had beautiful interior markings of dark spots, I can only imagine that would have made a beautiful saw log. Please split one block to check it out.
Your safety is quite good for a weekender type. I never cut into a fork without first making a cut beyond that fork by an amount equal to a piece of firewood.
You are getting good at cutting down trees. Lol , Glad your snow is gone. But here comes the mud. Since the snow is gone I am expecting anytime for you to start your pole barn. Good luck and God bless.
For that center "bridge" cut: cut about 3 to 3inches across the top. Mainly not binding it. Then back the tip out and follow that kerf down and then up across the bottom,
Great video as usual. I've lost count of how many oak and hickory trees that I have cut down on our property. I've given much of the wood away to people in our community for firewood and cooking wood. I know that I could probably sell it, but this past year was so hard on so many people that I felt just giving it away was the better thing to do.
Howdy Evan, Stihl to the rescue! Have you watched Buckin' Billy Ray's channel? One of his mantras is "Stand Up and Buck". Nice job cutting off the stump! Have A Day! ;~)
Great job...some of that hickory could be used at the fire pit. Sure would make for tasty burgers and hot dogs. I love hickory smoked meat. Nice to make brush piles for wild life too. Thanks for that. Have a Blessed day.
Like every woodsman what to do with the brush. Here’s an idea for you. Film making bio-char to use in your garden. Helps your garden and gives your viewers instruction and ideas of what to do with their brush.
Besides the content of your videos (which I enjoy very much), I want to commend you on your sound quality. I can always hear you and when you are using something loud (chain saw.. etc..), you decrease the volume so as I don't get my ears blow out. Your music also is of a decent volume. I watched your video on what you use and I know that there was an expense, but I think I and others do appreciate that. You are one of the few channels I look for and look forward to. Thank you!
Thank you very much. Yes, I do adjust the sound quite a bit. I probably spend an hour on each video adjusting sound levels. Trying to keep everything sounding pleasant and not annoying.
Looks so awesome Evan👍 Can you believe all the knowledge you've gained having your property. It's looking better and better 👍 Love the location you both chose for that pretty house. You can be so proud 👍❣️
After you cut the stump to the ground, My first thought at seeing it was a gingerbread man. In a former house we had a fire place. I cut my own wood. I decided then I could run my truck the same length of time as my chainsaw. Those things eat gas.
You're smart cutting the limbs close to the trunk. Makes stacking and splitting much easier. Do you know of any nearby small saw mills? Some of the hickory wood looks pretty nice.
Always projects to be done on the farm. Nice to have some nicer weather to be working outdoors. Stay safe. I liked the chainsaw helper 😊 Bruce from Mason Michigan
Love watching old videos that I missed until you put out your next video
I wish I was young enough to enjoy a life like yours. We used to have chicks and ducks I sure miss it
Stihl saving the Husky... No surprise there! 🤣
Hi..... Evan, thank you for sharing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🎥👍👍👍
Hi. My t-shirt is arrived in France. Thank you Evan and Rebekah. Sorry for my english 😂
Extra Bar and chain good advice, have done that many times.

That MS261 is a great limbing saw.
Nice to see a guy with a husky and a stihl, a bit like myself. Greetings from Ireland.
That went well! Lots of nice Hickory for next year 🪵🪓🔥👍👏😎
Pick up a MS 170 and put a 14 inch bar with a 050 chain on it and you will love that little thing for limbing and bucking small to medium size trees
You can drill holes in the stump, pour in Stump Out powder (at Home Depot) & cover w/dirt. Stump will be gone in a few months.
Back cut always above the scarf, here in Oregon,be safe
Another improvement to the farm, day by day, determination and persistence will serve you well.
Great job Evan, got those trees down and bucked up into some great firewood for your smoker or your firewood. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred.👍👍👏🏻👏🏻
I like your music so much better than most other videos! Thank you!
Well done Evan

I used to cut firewood with a 28" bar, but the trick is to not lean over, but cut with your tip from a standing position.
I thank you for videos May the lord bless you
I just bet you sleep good at night but you keep up your place and she loves to help!!
I used to have one of those bed liners. Hated how slick it was.
Another good work out you will soon be super fit

You are a man with many skills!

That tree stump ended up looking like a bear head. Lol. Great video. God bless. Kevin
Great job, Murphy always wins..💚👍👍
Awesome job Even its going open up and make it easy for equipment and tractor
awesome home in the background..... hard work pays..... thx for the vid.....
Your safety is quite good for a weekender type. I never cut into a fork without first making a cut beyond that fork by an amount equal to a piece of firewood.
Enjoy your videos.
Great job Evan y’all have the energy of 4 ppl.
Great video! Get those saw dogs in the wood!! Wont have that issue with the chain and wood cuts faster!
..good one, nice job, stay safe..
Thanks for another awesome lesson😉
When you burn wood, the wood warms you up three times...once when you cut it, once when you split it, and once when you burn it...
Stack it and carry it in also
Never heard that before.
Another good job. You should make some stickers for your store. I know I’d put one in my shop. Maybe on my chain saw case.
Watching you do all that work made me tired. I think it's time for a nap.
If I can offer some advice when cutting with the big saw, stand up and buck. Use the end of the bar. Great video.
There you are.....Hi Evan👋🏻
You are getting good at cutting down trees. Lol , Glad your snow is gone. But here comes the mud. Since the snow is gone I am expecting anytime for you to start your pole barn. Good luck and God bless.
Keep some of the Hickory to make a smoker for bacon etc. I can almost the taste and smell the crisp smoked bacon
Great stump cut!
Great job! 👍
Maybe, if you had invited us, we would have enjoyed hanging out with Rebecca and her family with you.
For that center "bridge" cut: cut about 3 to 3inches across the top. Mainly not binding it. Then back the tip out and follow that kerf down and then up across the bottom,
Woodcutter's helper .. that's a really handy thing .. haven't seen it up here .. I think will use your link to order one, thanks a lot!
Hope you finally got your (package) after you plowed your driveway
Yes, I did. But one package they left next to the billy goats wrapped in a clear trash bag. They were Still afraid to drive down the driveway.
@@CountryViewAcres yeah Amazon left a $100 package 200 yrds from my front door... not happy
You should use brush for kindling
Really good video, thanks for sharing
Might want to take down the two smaller st top of the opening.
Cool tool
Be nice to see the Swedish tradition - each tree you cut down (which I hate to see) - plant another!

You are a good man, Sir.
@@stephaniewilson3955 Thank you for the kind words.
You should get a Log Ox. It would be a big help when cutting up trees.
Nice job 👍
I was thinking I saw this but don’t remember!!
Good Job. Suggestion: I would cut one on the right side too, up to you. my 2 cents.
evan that wasnt two trees, two sucker trees from a long time ago ,toradone that stump, works even it its cold, nice work
I would love to live in a big farm like that, but got to put up with the city
Howdy Evan, Stihl to the rescue! Have you watched Buckin' Billy Ray's channel? One of his mantras is "Stand Up and Buck". Nice job cutting off the stump! Have A Day! ;~)
Hi Even i have a chain saw that when I put the safety on it turns off like yours make a video on how to fix it so I can learn 👍😆.
A nice future video would be a small Prescribed Burn where you are cutting.
Have you ever tried a carbide chain dirt won’t dull it your Stihl dealer should have them at a little higher cost
I love when you post a video 😁 This was a nice long one. Thank you for sharing
When you make a wedge in the trees should be one-third of the width of the tree
you should get the saw and cut straight down in the stump 5 to 10 times the weather will do the rest
uk
There was a couple of smaller trees behind you that you should take down also
Great job...some of that hickory could be used at the fire pit. Sure would make for tasty burgers and hot dogs. I love hickory smoked meat. Nice to make brush piles for wild life too. Thanks for that. Have a Blessed day.
Awesomeness
Like every woodsman what to do with the brush. Here’s an idea for you. Film making bio-char to use in your garden. Helps your garden and gives your viewers instruction and ideas of what to do with their brush.
You should look for a used brush hog mulcher chipper for all your small brush instead of making brush piles for burning .my .02
I bet that’s a helpful tool to have on the chainsaw, that also looks like great firewood!
That tree behind the double tree looks like it's ready to come out also. Looks like it's dying out.
That was good - I'm no where near exhaustion like I was when WE cut the stump out.
Double stump could make an interesting side table with bark stripped off.
That stump would make a great live edge table when it's inverted
I’d love to have some of the hickory to turn into some bowls.
Are you able to rent a wood chipper for the limbs? You can use the chips to line your garden paths between beds, less mud.
For the farm, I'd go ahead and buy one - a fairly heavy-duty one. It will always come in handy!
stand up and Buck!!! use the tip and learn the feel. it sucks because you will hit the dirt but once you are used to it you won't do it.
Those two spindly trees at the top of the hill look a little to close to the trail too.
Good morning from Grand Forks
Use the hickory for the grill. Hickory is great smoking wood.

bottle jack to release the saw
Try not to cut timber when it's cold .the sap and fluids in the wood freeze making your task difficult .love watching your videos
I’ve been watching you for a long time now and your videos are the only ones that I have the volume up you seem to me like a very honest person
You need to burn off the edge of your pond so that it will look pretty this spring , Rebecca could plant some flowers and cattails around it .
HEY ya. Nice video Thanks
FYI cord last longer if you dont pull it all the way to the end :)
thx
That's considerate of you to use the branches to make a bunny motel.
Great video Evan! I see you have trusses for the new barn build!
Yes, the barn build has started.
@@CountryViewAcres excellent! Look forward to see it going up!
Looks so awesome Evan👍 Can you believe all the knowledge you've gained having your property. It's looking better and better 👍 Love the location you both chose for that pretty house. You can be so proud 👍❣️
Gtreat, but maybe get those smaller trees at the top of the road?
Gotta learn to use the tip of the longer bar. Then you won't have to bend over so far when you are bucking up the logs!
hickory is excelent to make hammer and axe handle
Are those roof trusses I see over by the house. :)
