  • Come along with me to run a few errands and get GLAMOROUS at the hair salon. Listen, I'm not afraid to be out here and be seen trying 👍🏽 let me live out my vlogger fantasy life in peace 😅
My life RUNS off of checklists, and I wouldn't have it any other way 😂
We go thrifting, hit up the craft store while I try not to get distracted by its many fanciful wears and then spend some time in the salon trying to cover up my grey hairs. Will this be the last time I ever dye my hair? I've been going grey since I was 13 so maybe its time to accept my silver top destiny 🤔

Bragg’s makes nutritional yeast! Harmons grocery carries it in their baking aisle. It’s used to replace Parmesan cheese most of the time :)

I'm sorry, but as someone who crochets and knows *exactly* how much effort, time, and yarn it takes to construct a blanket, hearing someone complain about a handmade item costing $13 is infuriating. If you were buying a blanket from someone making you one, it would, *minimum,* cost you $250. Blankets with the stitches like the ones here? Easily $300+.
Yeah, fine it's Goodwill or whatever other thrift store, so of course they're gonna insanely mark down, but $13 for a blanket?? That's criminally insane, and wouldn't even cover three skeins of yarn. (Average blankets need 6 or more. A queen one I made for a friend took 29 full skeins.)

I hear you, I do, and as somebody who also crochets, crafts, and takes on personalized commission work, I too know the time, money, effort, and skill that goes into hand made items. However, when somebody gets rid of their handmade items by donating them to a thrift store, and you go to buy them, you aren't buying the items from an individual craftsman anymore. The crochet blankets at this particular store used to be $6 and now they are more than double. These are items that people have throw out and cast aside and would otherwise sit in a landfill if they weren't purchased by thrifters.
Marking up donated items is what's criminal. There is a disgusting amount of surplus in this country and some of these blankets have been sitting on these racks for months and will likely end up in the trash if they are not purchased. 85% of the items we see in thrift stores get thrown out into a landfill. Giving life to somebody's trash is a beautiful practice, and allows these items a new chance at life they otherwise wouldn't have. So yes, I'm going to complain about the $13 blanket being too expensive.

@@AlexandriaLayne While I can agree that there is a disgusting amount of surplus in this country, (made worse by fast fashion places,) I don't understand why you feel the need to skew a statistic to try and make a point. I did some of my own research and it says that 84% of *clothing* in thrift stores can end up in landfills. This does not include things like blankets, tablecloths, doilies, etc. And also that only about twenty percent of what thrift stores are given actually make it out onto the shelves.
I'll also agree with giving life to someone else's "trash" is a terrific thing.
However, while you don't mention that you crochet, you obviously do other handmade work. And if you've ever had to price a piece for sale, I'm sure you'll have come across the "i cAn gEt iT cHeApEr aT wAl-mArT!" crowd, who devalue something just because they have no idea what goes into making it.
So perhaps you should join the people who are begging others to actually appreciate handmade items and value them at what they're worth, instead of complaining when a thrift store still charges less than Walmart for what in reality is a handmade blanket worth hundreds.
