"We caught him with some good hard-nosed police work." "Well that, and his name was on the back of his jersey...." LMAO... I love the Nike goalie commercials
When I was a youngin', these videos inspired me to create a cartoon character named Netminder Glovesave (lmao I know) who always wore full goalie gear. He came from a town where everyone dressed up like hockey players and their roads were like Venice - except made of ice. One of the "teenager" jobs was to Zamboni the roads lmao.
the hockey skate used to rob the bank IS a hockey skate and not a goalie skate (perhaps because our frustrated goalie was wearing his?) and the pads -- they're Bauers..... still I LOVE THESE COMMERCIALS -- thanks for posting them -- they take me back and make me laugh....
A quick internet search would show that he played from 1991-92 through 1999-00 for the Flyers. This commercial was released 2/18/98. Prior to the Flyers, he played a few seasons for the Blues, in the same style he still plays today.
The Nike Goalie campaign ran from 1996 (Fedrov) through 1998 (Bank Robbery, Sundin and Anthem). The campaign has at least 20 different spots, 4 of which are different edits of this commercial (two 30's, a 60 and 90 second versions).
Jiminy Christmas. THE GOALIE @ 1 min. 13 sec. IS GUMP WORSLEY. You know, the guy wearing the Canadiens jersey that says "WORSLEY" on the back, saying: "Keep your catching glove up, kid". Please buy a clue - at any cost.
Wow, not knowing that Brind'amour played for the Flyers is like not knowing that Lemieux and Jagr played together or that Gretzky played for St-Louis. Oh wait, I'm probably one of the few hockey fans that remember Gretzky playing for the St-Louis Blues.
Been skating my whole life. I'll guess for you - I'm a goalie. Was a sad day when the Stars moved...I always liked Caesar Maniago. Maybe I'll post a video of me in goal some day, there's that one with Bob Halkidis blasting shots at me...
No problem. I'd be upset and in shock too if my team released such an uninspired "new look". At least the Sabres Donald Trump comb-over logo was "new". Maybe Van. should've done the "Halloween" jersey in blue. I liked those, and Bromley's skull mask!
You mean the Washington Ovechkins? No way. It takes more than one player to get a team a Cup. And yes, Brind'Amour is hurt. Your point? Apparently you haven't kept up with the standings lately because Carolina has done incredibly with everyone stepping it up since his injury. How about learning something before you open your mouth, ok?
You asshat. Who is the grey haired man (referred to as GUMP) saying "No problem kid, keep your catching glove up"? Open mouth, insert your fuckhead. Oh well, you can't fix stupid.
Family members say put the straightjacket back on, and up the meds. Your previous "insane" post is too funny to remove, but any further non-constructive posts will be. Take your stupidity and conspiracy theories elsewhere. Asshat.

I'm a goalie and I laugh at this because I know how it feels to never stop a puck by the SAME person!
Oh my GAWD...
GUMP WORSLEY!!
My pleasure. They weren't created for a huge audience, but it's great when someone "gets" the commercials, and all their intricacies.
holy shit! that was "the gumper"!
I COULDN'T STOP HIM!
This is a classic commercial!
best commercial ever!!!!!

I wonder if Worley got out before Brind'Amour won the Stanley Cup.
Hahaha Awesome!

You're just bitter cuz you lost 4 straight in the playoffs that year. Carolina's got skill whether or not you choose to believe it.
*facepalm*
Can I wear the mask?
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! No.
HOLY SHIT... "I hate Brind'Amour"
Nice mask, nice mas.that mask is not so nice!
