The mother in love it's open minded and supported her son happiness over anything else. Honestly in my book this is a good mother. He as a son should treasure such parents!

Why don't people discuss if they agree on having children BEFORE getting into a relationship? I totally understand not wanting children. But did he not know that about her beforehand?

Her mom had me crying when she teared up during the wedding. How sweet. My mother in law is Italian. Her parents settled into West Virginia when they immigrated to the US. My husband said his grandma didn’t speak any English her whole life here. She didn’t learn it. The only thing she would or could say in English is, “You eat”. So the family would speak Italian at home and outside of home, the children (my mother in law & siblings) would speak English.
The inlaws are so nice. Steffi started off ahead in the dating field with that degree in Korean studies!
I don’t think steffi and sanghyeon are properly ready to be married it seems like steffi has strong opinions bout things like the patriarchal standards in the household (like when her mil was saying youll have to cook for him later and she said oh he’ll be cooking ) and also it seems she’s not keen on childrearing.idk I think they haven’t discussed the important things and are still in their honeymoon phase of getting to know each other
The daughter-in-law is trying everything to embrace her in-laws and their culture, but what about the husband? What has he done to appreciate and embrace the Italian culture and his parents-in-law? I feel like this is always one sided.

@@ericsohn5084 it’s not the same, anyone can hire someone to clean whatever they want, it’s about actually putting the time and effort to get sth done, and way too many men simply leave the bathroom super dirty and stinky. It’s more like a sense of responsibility and hygiene, so instead of leaving the mess for someone else, he takes the responsibility and does a good job

My husband is the same haha. His cleaning standards are really high. Remember Korean men go to the military so lots are really disciplined.

I was married to a Korean while in Korea. We had both a Westerner and Korean style wedding. My mom ,Aunt,and a cousin were able to attend thanks to my Wife’s Family. They made it easy for me.

I just did this as the groom, and it was a lot of fun. The 5 hr photo session beforehand and the makeup appointment were a lot, but I would do it all again for her.
They definitely don't give robes that fit my chest over there. Haha!😂
We did a wedding in the US and another one a week later in Gangnam. Then off to Jeju for the honeymoon!

No, just standard Italian woman, strongly opinionated and unlikely to be bossed around.
Don't mistake superiority with having boundaries and self respect.
Parents being pressuring them to have many kids since SK has low birth rate 😅 Now I know why some of them avoid to being married and stay single. SK man has that “pride” of marrying a foreign woman in their life. The parents (older gen) are not that keen when their children choose to marry a foreigner. It’s all shown in this clip😂😂 And to foreign woman, please take note that the man in kdrama is totally different with real life. Maybe not all, but mostly that’s the case. 😊

I mean I am Italian too and I have to say it’s impressive how she speaks Korean… I know she went to school and all of that but it’s a totally different language with a different alphabet and what not.

Yep, the reality created by media, and the actual reality are two different things, majority of the world is conservative when it comes to getting married, or living with someone.
She should do her culture and her husband do his culture when it gomes to ceremony for ancestors. I think she will regret marrying him and he's short

I think it’s the husband’s ancestors, so if they want memorial services, the burden should be on him. She should help but the responsibility should not fall on her. I’m from a culture that does memorial services, but we don’t take it that seriously (my parents don’t expect me to do it)
Why does he have to understand something ridiculous culture which makes even Korean women not want to get married. Bad culture should be finished. that's why many Korean women don't want to get married.

My husband's family do memorial service while mine don't (different religion).
We have never talked about it before marriage (simply because i'm unaware of the practice) so when his mum sprung it on us, i let him handle it. If he wants to do it, it'll be his responsibility, i'd probably help, but he's the one who has to take charge if he wants it to happen.
Since he's too lazy to arrange one, it simply never happened 😂😂
And thankfully my husband is wise enough to said to his family that he's the one who doesn't want to do it (so the in laws never has problems with me).

I think she does a lot to respect Korean culture. Besides, it's much more rare to see respect for the foreign culture in these scenarios.
If I were in her place, I wouldn’t do it either not because it’s a lot to prepare but because it conflicts with my faith (Christianity) maybe it’s the same for her
My husband still pays respect to his ancestors..am a Christian I don't believe in this..We make it simple we buy side dishes and fruits then make one soup..Thats it.

@@jeddymoon3803 I grew up in a culture that worships ancestors, but I don't routinely practice the rituals. However, I see it as a way to memorialize the things your ancestors have gone through and did to bring their descendants to where they are now. Like recognizing the work they did to ensure the family lineage persists in a hard world. I'll occasionally pray to my ancestors and "ask" them to give me strength to go through life in the same way that they were able to persevere and make it. Even if I don't know them myself, they were once important people to others in the family line and helped shape values that were passed down through generations. (Though I understand customs are just different and we should be free to practice our own beliefs!)

I think they will not last forever. The way the girl talks to her bf, is giving the vibes of being manipulative and she has a bad attitude. And also the girl doesnt want to agree with her bf of having babies. Of course, she is in Korea, she should learn and respect the culture. She should leave Korea if she don't want some of their culture.

Hope that Steph is not serious in saying that she doesn’t want any children. It is pointless having a partner OF NOT HAVING ANY CHILDREN. GOD BLESS BOTH OF THEM, AS THEY SEEM a very good couple. The in laws or the parent of the would be husband is such a charming and generous in laws and the grandmother is very loving and caring, too. thank you for sharing.
Plenty of couples choose not to have children and are perfectly content and happy. Having kids isnt the sole reason or even a reason at all for some to get married.
