LG G8X Screen Replacement - A Quick Tutorial

- Today I will replacing the screen on a cracked LG G8X. The G8X turned heads when it was released with it's affordable price, and double-screen case feature! The phone I'm working today still has a functioning screen, although the repair will be same whether the screen works properly or not.
Stay tuned for the full tutorial next week. I will go more in-depth, and point trouble areas that can ruin a repair!

How to fix a LG G8 screen, LG G8 screen replacement
Thank you for the video! I just finished mine, however the screen came together with a new frame so it requires transferring all the parts over, including the buttons.
Take your time and unlike me, don't break the back cover/glass. I'm not using the phone anymore everyday, replaced the screen to gain access to sensitive information that couldn't disappear. Have a good one!
it takes a Good hard work and time to make a nice video with a good presentation with keeping in mind everything like background , color , view angles . i can understand how hard is sometime to manage to make a good video, for world its only 8 min but the creator only knows how much time and work he has put into it . keep it up

Hey does anybody know if I can remove the screen from the LG dual screen to replace the screen that comes with the phone? The screen is broken but I do have the dual screen so I was just wondering is anybody knew.

Good video. Watched another and was following step by step until I realized the guy was doing a full tear down as well as replace his broken screen. About took my phone completely apart just following his steps, once the heat pipe came off and he bent it in half... I decided to look elsewhere. Thanks
Hello brother, in my LG g8x only front glass is broken.the display and touch works good. So is there anyway to change only front glass.

There is. But it requires a good bit of tools to do so. It's usually cheaper to replace the whole assembly. You could try using the resin to fix the scratches.
Thank you for this, just a pointer tho, no need to remove the battery if just replacing the screen.

Does the screen fit inside of the frame? Or does it sit on top of the frame? My front glass replacement seems to be maybe too large to fit inside of frame.
It should sit flush with the frame.
It doesn't neccesary to remove all parts

I had a repair shop do this for me last week but my finger print sensor stopped working and my phone can't find my mobile network. I keep getting Emergency Calls only. I've reset my apn settings, changed my network etc. Is it possible my antenna was damaged while having this done?
It's definitely possible. More likely the antenna just wasn't connected completely though. I would take it back to where you had it repaired. Most shops, including the one I worked at, have a warranty on their work.

My lg g8x display is fine but in some area touches are not working but the pixel and images in that area are properly visible not able to touch in the area is there any way to resolve this touch issue
You have to replace the screen.

I know the finger print scanner is a different component than the screen but does it still work after you replace the screen? I can either fix my lg8x for $140 or pay $500 to replace my Samsung s21 ultra
As long as you don’t tear the cable then yes it will work.
1 year later and Im finally getting around to fixing it. I bought a new front and back screen, charger port and new battery
Was there a lot of adhesive on the battery like the lg g8?
The same amount yes. I’m not sure what phone companies put so much adhesive on their batteries lol.

@@JoeDoesStuff I found it for 65 USD on Ebay. Probably not as good, but this is a cheap phone anyway.
I don't recommend buying screens from eBay. Their return policy isn't as good. And it's common to get faulty replacement screens. And usually "not as good" means some part of the touch doesn't work properly.
@@JoeDoesStuff Yes, but this phone doesn't worth a U$150 fix. I rather toss it and get a better phone used.
Then I would recommend doing that over buying a cheap screen. Then you're out the $65 and you will end up buying another phone anyway.

Is it still waterproof as before?
No phone is waterproof, I like to always make sure people know this. The answer is no. Once you break factory vacuum seal it won't be as water resistant. But that was already compromised when the screen was cracked.

Do you mean the pixels are black? Yes a screen replacement is needed to fix that issue.
why is the battery and motherboard removal necessary for this? Seems like you could have replaced the OLED panel just fine without that.
Also, a common trend when replacing screen assemblies is that the proximity sensor will have trouble working, but newer phones such as these with a notch or punch-hole seem to not have that. Is this a known issue on the G8X to look out for?

What was cost for display
It’s different per area. There’s a link in the description of the screen I used.
Why you have replace whole combo....if touch is working fine then only glass replacement is enough....
The average person doesn't have the equipment to replace glass only, and I want to show a video my viewers can follow at home.
Also, the screen assembly isn't very expensive. Why put in so much more extra work for a few bucks? And it not look as good.

Whether there's a huge difference or not, the average person doesn't have the capabilities to make that repair.
