    This is one of the weirdest games I've seen. Seems interesting but also very convoluted for what really is a kind of a simple worker placement game. In any case, thanks once again for a thorough playthrough!

    Just so you know, there must have been a rule update between your version and the final one : when you buy a tile from the market, every player that has an energy token in the piggy bank gets to put another one.
    Thanks a lot for all your videos, love you guys ! Greetings from France !

    What an odd game! But, it looks like a lot of fun. As usual, the two of you made a great, informative, entertaining video that really showcased the product. Love your channel.

    I don’t remember ever being so lost in a playthrough lol. I usually skip the teach and pick it up along the game for stuff I just want to see in play, but this one left me like ????? all through it. What are you doing? Why? How? I’m so lost.

    • @damaddestgamer
      @damaddestgamer Рік тому +3

      I agree, being completely new to this game I didn't quite understand what you're trying to do from the teach. Also there is a lot of unnecessary jargon applied to everything in this game, which made it even harder to follow.

    • @BeforeYouPlay

      It's quite a different game in the way you have to deploy energy (tiles) and score for the tiles at the end of the game depending on where they are on the board. In short, you are spending the lower row tiles on your player board to take the action thats shown at the bottom of its column. Some actions allow you to deploy energy (tiles) always from the top row of your player board, and you are sending them out to build monuments on the board and eventually score points for doing so. Sorry for the confusion!

      @@BeforeYouPlay Nothing you guys did, just a weird game and hard to follow on screen I think, probably easier to sit down and learn in person.

    Nice playthrough. The foundational premise reminds me a little of Terry Prachett's Discworld novel, Small Gods.

      @SteveRB511 Рік тому

      @@BeforeYouPlay Very much so. It's about an insignificant god who wants to gain power by finding a prophet and attracting believers. I really enjoy the humor, insight into human behavior, and satire that Terry Pratchett combines in his Discworld novel series, and Small Gods is no exception.

    Great play-through like always, enjoyed it very much . 🙂 What i noticed, if you put more than one tile down and than completed a monument part both of you thought about in what order to do it. As if the tile you place down last must be the one you have to permanently bind to the board. I wasn't sure about it either and reread the rules. The completing player can choose which of his tiles (if he has more than one) is the one that remains there. If you complete it you turn any one tile on the edge just to indicate you were the one who finished it.

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  Рік тому

      Oh haha yes you're right. For some reason we thought it had to be our last tile placed but you do get to choose. Thanks so much!

    You guys are always one of the first channels I go to when deciding whether or not to back a game. You've definitely convinced me on this one but I do have one question. I'm thinking of getting the collector's edition with the mechanical boards because it seems more durable than the cardboard alternative. I don't think I'll be using the catapult mechanique as much if at all. Would you still recommend the metal upgrade solely from a durability aspect?

    Great play through. I have a question though about your very first turn. Were you allowed to place that deployed tile into the purple monument? I thought you had to be in the region of that monument to place a tile on that monument ?

    I saw this game on another channel (Heavy Cardboard) and could not understand what was going on and I usually do. Now that I am seeing yours I understand it was not the other channels fault, but the game's fault. This game just does not look fun at all and confusing. There is a flaw in this game and I can not put my finger on it. By the way you both explained the game very well, good job.

    Thank you for another lovely show. How long does it take you to learn a prototype vs a published game?

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  Рік тому

      Hi! Great question. It really depends on the state of the prototype (and rulebook), as well as if any changes are made to the rules prior to launching. A lot of prototypes undergo many changes/edits before the final version of the game is released, so sometimes it takes a bit longer for us to learn a prototype because we have to keep in mind all of the changes. A lot of rulebooks also do not come with images, so it's a lot of us having to figure it out on our own, but the publishers are always very receptive to any questions we might have. Thanks so much!

    For all the marketing surrounding this, I was expecting a much more interesting game. Doesn't feel like a euro game at all. Doesn't feel like "demanding more from a game" except nice art and some metal (?) thingies.
    (Not your fault ofc)

      Not really, I think even if he had exhausted that energy (as it should've been), he would've refreshed sooner and this would've changed everything in the game thereafter. He was doing fairly well in the game and he would've been able to complete more achievements AND put out his last tile if he had more time; there was more of a chance he would've won this one even without the mistake IMO - but we'll never know for sure...

    • @icydeadpeeps
      @icydeadpeeps Рік тому

      Yeah, that one mistake made a huge difference in this game. That was the energy that let him build two complete monuments almost immediately after the mistake. It's tough having a game where such a small mistake can chain to a huge difference.
