I have been living in Bay Ridge for over twenty years and it's just heaven to me . Still is.
The movie Saturday night fever was filmed in bensonhurst and bay ridge. I was a kid when the filming took place in my neighborhood. That movie revolutionized the neighborhood, it became the Mecca of discos and that whole Italian American dance fever and dressy leather jackets like he wore in the film and DA hair cuts lol
I love BK.
I lived in Ovington Ave. in Bay Ridge and I was extremely happy. Thanks for the shot
Bay Ridge is the greatest area to live , I grew up there in the 60s 70s and 80s still remember the old neighborhood , what times the there were . Thanks very much for sharing this video with us all .
Bay Ridge is my favorite NYC neighborhood. Spending a few nights there in December specifically to eat. :)
I was born in bay ridge just my heart will always be in Canarsie
Nice video guys, made me homesick for the old days. I grew up in Brooklyn in the 50's/60's and lived in Bay Ridge from 73 till 87. The park you walked through is Bliss Park (aka Owls Head), there were free concerts there in the early 70's. The stage was by the restroom building, just local bands. Sit on the hill and share some Boone's Farm and a doobie. The steep hill facing the harbor you showed is my wifes favorite spot in Bliss. We would spread a blanket, have a picnic and neck.
The gingerbread house is on 82nd and Narrows ave. The pier is the 69st pier. There were ferries that went to St. George in S.I. from there in the 50's/60's, the fare was 5 cents. The street is Bay Ridge Ave. but nobody ever called it that, it was always 69th street??? Lastly the cannon in JPJ park (aka cannonball park) wasn't plugged in the 70's, we would stash our weed in the cannon so's not to get busted. It's from the civil war, one of only three or four left. It was there to guard the Narrows. Hope I didn't bore youse guys.
Not bored at all, great story !
Yeah my neighborhood Bay Ridge Brooklyn!!
Best neighborhood in Brooklyn
I went from bensonhurst to long island and now Tampa Bay Florida. I miss the block parties in the 1970s. Good ole days 😊
It's pretty safe and good for sight seeing
Bay Ridge was traditionally Norwegian and Irish, not Italian. Dyker Heights is traditionally Italian, that's the next neighborhood over. And, the pizzeria in Saturday Night Fever where Tony Manero ate is in Bensonhurst. The Disco where Tony Manero danced was in Bay Ridge.
That was Lenny's Pizzaria on 86 street
I grew up in Bensonhurst and when we became of drinking age we would go to the small dance clubs, great memories 👍🏼
Bayridge & sunset Park was the largest Norwegian population outside of Norway this was into the 1960's . This an old area going back before the bklyn bridge and is the last stop on the bmt r train.
@Kevin Marsh. The old R or double R....
Can’t believe this dude didn’t check out Pizza Wagon the best pizza in Brooklyn imo
I came on here to see if they show Pizza Wagon. It was one of the best pizzas that I have ever had.
Back in the day, Pizza Wagon was the ish. Went there a few weeks ago and the pizza was mediocre at beat. The place fell off.
*Best
@tomoshmoto...Pizza wagon. Damn RIGHT!
CAP
Brings back memories
Loved the video! Thank you guys
Grew up in Bay Ridge, Nino’s was on my block. Still the pizza all others are measured against.
Another interesting destination in New York. Thanks for sharing! Would love a slice of good New York pizza right now! ^^
Lotta/Lanttimatkat
Cool loved the gingerbread house
This part of the city looked so calm and relax compared to the wild traffic of Manhattan. I want a gingerbread house too now!! :D
We all want a gingerbread house!
I love it i live here for 10 years now
Bay Ridge was never known as an "Italian Neighborhood". That would be neighboring Bensonhurst and Dyker Heights. Bay Ridge was known as a Scandinavian neighborhood, until the 1960s, when the Scandinavian population "suburbanized" to Long Island, and New Jersey. It was then a polyglot of Scandinavian, Irish, Italian, and just about every other European immigrant group. It now has a large and growing Middle Eastern population.
Thanks guys for sharing the video brings back memories I lived there as a boy Im curious do they still have Ovington Billiards on Ovington ave which is right off of 5th ave around 69th street. I do miss the Pizza the best in the world in Brooklyn
That gingerbread house looks incredible! I have never heard of that neighbourhood (like you said) but I definitely wanna check it out myself now :P
Ha ha , yeah quite the house.
Siempre buscas algo diferente y lo de la pizza con Travolta estuvo genial, saludos
Jajaja gracias, si siempre!!
Fun to explore the city this way with you, mate. Looks nice and quiet. The fountain at the gingerbread house is an exact replica of the famous Manneke Pis in Brussels, Belgium ;)
Thanks Jesper, yeah someone else pointed that out to me on facebook.. I need to work on my knowledge of art haha.
NYC is such a great city and you're doing an awesome job of exploring and showing us around bro. I've driven across the Verrazano, but have never stopped down in Bayridge. Looks like a great spot to fly the drone too ;)
Marlon.. I can't think of a better spot to fly your drone ;)
Go to Owls Head Park! Thank me later
LOL you are so Travolta right now... That area looks very suburban... I have yet to hit Brooklyn... I never seem to make it... Ill make it a point to go next time I visit.

I grew up in Flatbush in the 60s and 70s but we visited my aunt and uncle and cousin they lived at 801 70th st went to sunset pool every summer
Love the pizza opening

I never ate 2 slices together like that .i remember watching them making the movie at 2001 odyessy by 64 st and 8 th ave
Very delicious looking pizza
🤔. Wasn't that Bensonhurst? The "B" train (in the old days) didn't go to Bay Ridge
Really good video Jon, my partner lived in Brooklyn when she was a kid, in the typical Jewish neighbourhoods of Williamsburg, Borough Park and she even did a stint in Bed Sty as well. I hope one day you can do a vlog on Jewish food in NYC - might bring back some memories for her!
You know, that's an awesome idea. I did a food tour in the Lower East Side of Manhattan once.. Stopped by a matza factory, knishes.. Could throw in bagels.. Thanks .
Here Be Barr I did the same tour a few years back!
Great Video. Have you tried the Pizzas at Delias Lounge, 3rd Ave bay ridge? Especially the tuscany margherita. One of my favourites in Brooklyn.
I've actually only been to Bay Ridge once, but i will note that spot!
Looking on an airbnd apartment for my first USA/New York trip. We are staying for 4 weeks, so we dont have to stress. Is Bay Ridge a good place to stay to explore broklyn and the City?
Hi I live in ba,yridge on Bay Ridge Avenue you can refer to it as 69st.
im coming to new york and my air bnb in in bayridge how long of a bus/subway ride is it to manhattan?
Depending on where in Manhattan. I'd estimate 35-40 minutes.
I want pizza now...
Yep, its decided. I'm having some tonight
Haha glad to help.

Ah home sweet home I live in Florida now ☹️
Dude i bike rided there many times, never found the gbread house. Great video!

I think it's 8220 Narrows ave. (82nd street), if I recollect.
Its right near ft hamilton high school
My area!!
Ty
I used to live there 85th &3rd Ave 11209
Bay Ridge is also home to the first “Century 21” department store. Which started off as a small discount store. Look at it now, the Jewish owners have done very well !
I go to bay Ridge for the bars it’s nice
If it makes you feel any better nyc is dying
Ugh, Hipsters venturing into old neighborhoods and acting like they discovered something...while recording it. RIP old NYC
Bay Ridge wasn't Italian, it was Irish and Greek, and now Arab. Italians are the next neighborhood over! lol
Bensonhurst born and raised!
Ya this guy needs a map
Bay ridge is more italian than bensonhurst actually
Hey Tony, how you duwin...
@@andyfin990lol iconic
Video games GTA IV and GTA V video games gives a clear idea of how you USA city and streets looks like in real life..Rockstar games have clearly replicated the city, streets and countryside of USA ..in GTA V/4 video games. ..
@ 3:15 Do NOT stand between the cannon and the bridge.
Built by Phil Leotardo to hold off any of the Soprano crew coming in
from Jersey vis Staten Island .
where's pizza wagon and elegante's aka the best pizza in Brooklyn
Hmm
Chip is the kind of guy me and my friends used to mug just for coming to our neighborhood back in the day

سبحان الله العظيم 🌹
"Chip, why hasn't anyone eaten you yet?"
where are the random women you might talk too LOL:-) Next video needs Gennady aka G$
The internet is not ready for G$.
Still better then Bensonhurst, Brooklyn
That Verrazano Bridge connects B'klyn and Staten Island, it doesn't separate them. You Putz.
lol
LOL..
Man I see that pee Fountain everyday when going to school
I think that's modeled after a fountain in Belgium called the Mannequin Pis. Not a joke, it's a real fountain.
I resent these 2 super lame-os walking around my Bay Ridge.
well there from jersey dont know a Fn thing about Brooklyn or bay ridge so I guess you have to cut these morons some slack
