Wholeheartedly agree, re watched the hunger games recently and only when I looked it up did I find out what song it was. Especially with this music video it should have been way more popular.
Can't believe it's been a decade. I'll never forget what it was like hearing this in the theaters as soon as Catching Fire ended and the credits started rolling. One of the best movie experiences ever.
My parents took me to see this movie on opening night when I was 15 and the theater was completely full. Sadly I don’t remember if we stayed for the credits but I still love this song. What a great memorable experience.
Today I saw the Hunger games again for 3x And I came here to listen Coldplay music. Based on what is happening in the world lately, it even seems like this is the real hunger games, where extremist political influence is just like Snow, along with some fanatics. The world is in need of a Katniss, whether male or female. We are on a dangerous path. A comment that can be interpreted in 5 ways: dramatic, critical, hyperbole, metaphor and something real.
Actually, he was carrying the sky on his shoulders not the earth. (I know you said "condemned to hold the sky up" but you also said "carrying the earth")
I miss this era of Coldplay. Growing up is accepting change... But some little piece of me is still stuck here. This song is the anthem of an entire season of my life.
it is a beautiful song , I wonder if they would make similar tracks. especially the outro part + guitar solo . so great. if you like similar music feel free to listen to some on my channel
Este es el ultimo album de coldplay donde aun conservaban un poco de su estilo original. Y su cambio comenzo en el disco "viva la vida" , aunque alli aun sonaban muy bien a pesar de los nuevos cambios.
This is one of their most underrated ones! An absolutely stunning ballad with simple but deep lyrics, great melody, effective use of electronics for creating the mood and an addicting guitar solo at the climax of the song! It is also a musical piece, that can make you feel very different emotions: From sad, nostalgic, dreamy, wishful, empowered to hopeful. Under the surface, it is a very complex song. I just can't get enough of 'Atlas'!
+Nicolas Waldvogel Not to mention a complex harmony for the genre... when 99% of songs have the same chord sequence such a well thought change is very appreciated !
Sieur Serclase Well if a movie's good or the band likes it who cares? Hunger Games is a critically acclaimed film with deeper themes than people give it credit for, they assume its like Twilight (and of course its not). And just FYI he didn't make this because of Jennifer Lawrence, she was with someone else at the time.
i was 14 when this song came out and i remember how my heart beated sychronized with this. i'm almost 21 now and the feeling is still the same. this song is a masterpiece
Do you ever hear a song that just speaks to something in your heart or soul that you can't quite explain but you're dancing inside to it because it's speaking to you in ways you don't understand? Coldplay have many songs which do that for me including this one. I don't even want to have an explanation for it come to think of it. I just want to feel it.
True Love on Ghost Stories, Swallowed in the Sea and Low on X & Y, Daylight on a Rush of Blood to the Head, Don't let it break your heart on Mylo Xyloto. There's more but those are some of my personal favourites.
2022 this song still gives me goosebumps! It’s absolutely perfect for the movie but is also a stand alone amazing Coldplay song. When it plays at the start of credits for Catching Fire, *chefs kiss* perfection.
Just finished Catching Fire again (cried three times) and I thought this song was not only the perfect song for the end but absolutely perfect for anything

This song reminds me of when my mother was dying of cancer five years ago. I watched her breathe her last breath. I will never forget that experience as long as I live. To this day I cannot watch this video or hear this song without bursting into tears. When the day comes that this song no longer has this effect on me, I'll know I'm done grieving. Show me the way, lord, cause I, I'm about to explode...
I've said it in a previous post from something like 4 or 5 years ago, that as amazing as the actual song is, the video/graphics are every bit as important, and together they hold an incredible power, at least to my silly old mind anyway. I will never tire of this, right here... \m/ (:o)
for me it’s 0:00 cause i haven’t listened to this songs since 2013 and it reminds me of when i only cared about the hunger games, i didn’t have to try in school but that’s all gone now
When I listen to this song I remember the ending of catching fire, and how it was the first movie in which peeta and katniss built their connection. She started falling in love with him not even noticing herself. It was the perfect song to end this movie peeta carrying her world which was her family around his neck. Like come on how could gale ever.
My son and I read together all the time. While he’s still a bit too young for The Hunger Games, he’s familiar with the soundtrack from me listening to it all the time. We just finished The Hobbit, and that line “Some search for gold; some dragon to slay” has a whole different layer meaning now. This song is magnificent!!
Not only that...Peeta carried Katniss' world around his neck in the medallion with the pictures of her family....that is what went through my mind when I heard the song...
not clever at all... clearly the video is full of astrology and greek gods can even be seen in the stars, also many references to ancient greek society were made throughout the lyrics, congratulations to figuring it out
This song fits catching fire so well. Katniss trying to support her weight, her family's weight, though less, gale, and also trying to figure out her feelings for peeta; and all the while trying to fight her way through a world that has suddenly started idolizing her, something that she doesn't want.
When I heard the song as the credits rolled, I couldn't move....I LOVE THIS SONG...but then I love everything from Coldplay. Chris Martin's voice soothes and carries you away...the beautiful piano melody before the song explodes is powerful. It should win Best Song at the Academy Awards...
I'm so glad quarantine's made me rediscover songs I'd had the audacity to forget, like this one. This is perfection- and one of the best soundtrack songs of all time.
Lyrics ❤️ Some saw the sun Some saw the smoke Some heard the gun Some bent the bow Sometimes the wire Must tense for the note Caught in the fire, say oh We're about to explode Carry your world I'll carry your world Carry your world I'll carry your world Some far away Some search for gold Some dragon to slay Heaven we hope Is just up the road Show me the way, Lord 'Cause I am about to explode Carry your world I'll carry your world Carry your world I'll carry your world Carry your world (Carry your world) And all your hurt Carry your world Carry your world
I cried when i first heard this song. I had stopped listening to Coldplay when my brother passed on since it was one of his favourite bands. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to listen to the music we enjoyed together without crying
Oh my god, people Catching Fire was actually so unbelievably amazing. (I had low expectations for it, but it was mind blowing.) Also I had friends that didn't even read the books and they were crying.
this song keeps one kept inside some kind of a bubble to dream and feel...and you cannot escape it because even if it is over you want to hear it again and again... pure beauty in the world of music, nothing else to say...
"show me the way, Lord... Cause I... I'm about to explode" This part just gets me everytime. I always get teary-eyed precisely because it is about some sort of faith, but never sounding like your regular gospel track
Heard the song on the movie twice. First, the instrumental version as a background for a scene. Second is for the closing credits. Amazing song and amazing movie!
kenzierules1207 when katniss and haymitch had a conversation in haymitch's house.. not really sure but i heard an instrumental part of this song being played in the background..
Some saw the sun. Some saw the smoke. Some heard the gun. Some bent the bow. Sometimes the wire. Must tense for the note. Caught in the fire. Say ohh, im about... TO EXPLODE! Carry your world, I'll carry you world!! :))))
This reminds me of Coldplays old stuff!! When they're style of music changed, the more commercial stuff that MTV likes, i wasn't too happy about it because in my opinion couldn't compare to their old stuff. This sounds like the old Coldplay that had more heart behind it! Great song!
I've gotta say, even though my heart resonates more with their older material, Mylo Xyloto still stands with me as one of the most cohesive and enjoyable albums I've ever heard. But I totally agree... this song is very reminiscent of their older work and especially X&Y in particular at least to me! But there's some Rush of Blood in there as well for sure!
I sense a little more Parachutes rather than Rush of Blood in this song. The piano is very much in the style of Parachutes, while the slight echo in the singing is typical of X and Y.
I'm about...to...EXPLODDEEEE!!! MY GOD THAT BUILD UP. ONLY AND ONLY COLDPLAY CAN COME UP WITH SOMETHING THIS GENIUS!! Hands down the greatest and the biggest band on the planet! Imagine disagreeing. Coldplay 💜💜💜💜
I just love how the movie was so accurate to the book, the parts that made me tear up in the book made me tear up when I was watching the movie. It was a pure masterpiece, and this song is beautiful. I love Catching Fire and Coldplay!
everytime i hear this song it just calms me down and i don't even know 😂 it just has this huge emotional and physical effect on me. I just close my eyes or go in my own abstract world when i hear it. Anywhere i hear it ilthe world just stops and i take it in. A hand full of coldplays songs do this to me. i love them❤
The lyrics are so beautiful! They don't have a clear meaning, but everyone can interpret them in some way. I for myself always find something new in it, what's always the same, however, is how strong and deep the emotional effect is. Coldplay is godlike, but Atlas is probably their best piece imo
@@Viewable11 I am aware of that, however I can't link the lyrics 100% to the story. Why Atlas? Why carry your world? I think it references Catching Fire but doesn't really reflect the story. (Fyi I'm a hardcore Hunger Games Fan, maybe I just missed the "true" meaning but after reading "Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" which has songs without definite meanings in it I like to believe the same applies to this song)
@@paulhk2727i'm late to this discussion, but "Atlas" - the titan condemned to carry the world on his shoulders - is Katniss in the song's narrative. the "world" she carries is the revolution, the ideals of the rebels and the pain of the poor and marginalized layers of the districts. "carrying this world" is a curse like Atlas's, as Katniss never wanted to be a symbol of the revolution - she was drawn into the middle of everything after her sacrifice for Prim. yet she subjects herself to it and is inevitably tied to it.
Beautiful song complimented by a beautiful video; I love the symbolism within it especially with the title and the lyrics. Atlas being a Greek God who carries the sky/stars (Depending on your reading of the tale) on his shoulders - I've head quite a few people say they don't understand why the title is what it is. Well, It's quite simple, Atlas carries the stars/sky and every world exists within that so the main lyric "Carry your world." matches the reference to Atlas. It's a beautiful song which has interpretive meaning, anyone can infer what they like onto it to change it's meaning.
Im a big coldplay fan....ive said this then I'll say it now this is one of their greatest songs ever...probably the height of thier music career....what a song I cry every time
This song was unbelievably perfect at the end of Catching Fire.
I totally agree! I shazammed it and can't stop playing it over and over again!

Catching fire is the best film and book of the saga, and listening to Atlas at the beginning of the credits was amazing!! ♥
In Greek mythology, Atlas was a Titan, carrying the Earth on his shoulders, condemned to hold up the sky for eternity.
"I'll carry your world"
tbf Chris has a degree in Greek and Latin from UCL so you can see where he gets some of the lyrics.
Actually, he was carrying the sky on his shoulders not the earth. (I know you said "condemned to hold the sky up" but you also said "carrying the earth")
I get where this is coming from though, cause I pictured an actual Atlas, like a glossary of the globe.

Beautiful said!!!
That!
In addition the new song 'Magic' says it all with the title name.
You sound like a poet. And your right. You can't escape it.
Rightly said
Wow, Atlas - from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - has just been nominated for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes! Awesom!!
"show me the way, Lord... Cause I... I'm about to explode"
This part just gets me everytime. I always get teary-eyed precisely because it is about some sort of faith, but never sounding like your regular gospel track
Heard the song on the movie twice. First, the instrumental version as a background for a scene. Second is for the closing credits. Amazing song and amazing movie!
which scene I wasn't really paying attention to the songs kinda
kenzierules1207 when katniss and haymitch had a conversation in haymitch's house.. not really sure but i heard an instrumental part of this song being played in the background..
the first 4 sentences of the lyrics carries a lot more meaning than it looks.
How can someone listen to this song and not cry their eyes out...
+Cassandra Rosenberg I honestly don't know, but one of those people is me.
I can't
+Suhas Jamdar that's fucking rude
+Suhas Jamdar You need a dictionary and a proper education before you're going to be trashing on somebody.
+Cassandra Rosenberg You're a beautiful spirit...
when he goes “heaven we hope” my heart breaks it perfect for catching fire
This song blows me away every time I listen to it.
Hunger games 2 - one of the best movie endings ever. This song was a bonus.
Almost like empire strikes back ending.
@Parnika SwamiCALM DOWN
I'm seeing Coldplay in concert for the first time this year... It still doesn't feel real
Real or not real? 😉
Me too!!!!
OMG I saw one for my birthday and I was about to EXPLODE when I found out! (Wow that was such and unfunny joke)
I feel like this song will be used in a NASA advertisement in the future when we have to leave earth to go to Mars
Don't know if you know it but there's a song called Moving to Mars by Coldplay. How about we use that 😂
@@7os400 was about to say it 😭💀
If humanity ever has to leave Earth, Mars will not be the destination. One of the moons of Jupiter or Saturn will be out next home.
White Shadows would also be a great song for that
But one of the lyrics are “we’re about to explode” 😶
they couldnt pick a better song for hunger games
Some saw the sun. Some saw the smoke. Some heard the gun. Some bent the bow. Sometimes the wire. Must tense for the note. Caught in the fire. Say ohh, im about... TO EXPLODE! Carry your world, I'll carry you world!! :))))
I'll carry your world, and all your hurts,"
❤
Song is giving me the “making progress and about to prove everyone one wrong” type of vibe.
I agree with you
Parachutes and Rush to the Blood were their best albums IMO
There is no district 12

Coldplay 💜💜💜💜
One word: BEAUTIFUL
Last year the best song for a movie was Adelle with Skyfall and this year it's Coldplay with this masterpiece of a song
The most beautiful song, so underrated.
This song is PERFECTION.
A hand full of coldplays songs do this to me. i love them❤
One of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard.
What I love so much about this song is its a soft climax, puts a huge spin on what this song makes us feel.
I love this song. It makes me sad sometimes. Great inspiration for writing, though
Your a writer. A damn good one too.
Oh jeez
I dunno.
She's a good writer so I told her that.
Caleb, enough flattery.
The lyrics are so beautiful! They don't have a clear meaning, but everyone can interpret them in some way. I for myself always find something new in it, what's always the same, however, is how strong and deep the emotional effect is.
Coldplay is godlike, but Atlas is probably their best piece imo
The lyrics describe the story of the film. See
_Coldplay - Atlas (The Hunger Games - Catching Fire OST)_
It's funny how this helped me get off my depression. I'm better and happier.
I honestly hated this the first time I heard it, but now I can't stop listening to it, yet another amazing track from Coldplay.
Same here. The notes are weirdly placed but make sense as a whole. Love this song now
I remember when I saw Catching Fire and this played at the end...gave me goosebumps... beautiful song!
Underrated song.
Iconic, timeless. The most beautiful lyric video ever.
This song has a chill feel like it does in A Rush of Blood to the Head album.
this gives me chills every time i listen to this ! :')
Im a big coldplay fan....ive said this then I'll say it now this is one of their greatest songs ever...probably the height of thier music career....what a song I cry every time
