I totally agree with the style part of it - the outfits for the stages were always a bit strange looking - but I disagree with your opinion on the song.
zimzalabim was a red track, and so were most of the other tracks on the album but sure sunny side up was more of a velvet track to me and that's why everyone likes it so much. I personally love rv's velvet songs, but I wish people would appreciate their other music more.
It's "inconsistent", yes, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. what red vevelt's composers are doing -and always have done- is try and experiment with new styles and sounds, which they did with this comeback. you say it's "messy", and yeah, I can see why you might think that but it's not messy, just different. zimzalabim wasn't your typical pop song - or just your typical song. the chorus was more of a chant that anything, the only melodic part was the prechorus and the bridge (which was awesome, red velvet's bridges are something else), and they used a variety of percussive sounds that you might not normally hear. I love the fact that it's unpredictable because with so many songs these days, I can tell exactly where they're going. So yeah, I really love zimzalabim and the whole album. I hope you can come to like it too.

I love red velvet, but I feel like they could do way better. I was excited for this comeback and most of it was good but when they put it together it just didn't match from the style to the song. This comeback was so bold and I'm proud for that but it did not convince me as red velvet

Personally i think zimzalabim is a musical masterpiece. It does have consistency and a strict flow of the verses. And the whole song feels like an amusement park in one song. Its simply amazing to me how much a song can portray thrill and energy so well that it makes you feel like you are in a rollercoaster. Plus the ways they use drums to add ot calm down energy is quite genious. I dont listen to it often but it still is one hell of a trip to listen to the full song. But yoyr music taste isn't about that and respect your opinion. Though i got a boy was a mess and the styling was horrible

Zimzalabim was made to show kpop fans that there's more to just badass concepts and girl-crush the lyrics talks about following your dreams and it includes wearing designer items and not being lazy. The outfits were chosen to match the lyrics of the song and it was a very good choice

The way I see it, the song really is ALL over the place. It seems like their concept was very diverse in a way. The outfits were 100% terrible. The stylists were clearly dressing them up in the dark. They could've done way better. Overall, I personally really like the dance break part, but that might be it. But, you definitely can't deny that the song's chorus is extremely catchy. I always find myself singing it. But, it isn't the best in terms of sound itself. The song isn't that good but effort was 100%
