The cars that did make it to the game are pretty awesome too! It´s rare to see some of these, like the 1985 Honda Accord in any game :> I´ve worked as a vehicle artist too for a couple pc games few years back, sadly those are pretty unknown (and not very good games). The cars were unlicenced, but you could probbly see what they are, I made an Alfasud, Fiat 600 Multipla, Lamborghini LM002 lookalikes, and one based on the Probe 16 (it was in the Clockwork Orange) among others
To be honest I'm glad the Bentley didn't make it. The Rover 75 deserved a moment like this considering how badly BMW fucked it over. Such a great car, and definitely what I think if when I think of the Getaway.
The Getaway and The Getaway: Black Monday are such wonderful, classic games. Too bad they aren't really spoken of that much these days. Let's hope the franchise will come back one of these days. I think The Getaway 3 on PlayStation 5 could be amazing!
Honestly I'm glad they went for a TVR after being unable to get the Porsche and Audi licenses. The Cerbera is an absolutely iconic British sports car and TVR itself is an iconic British car manufacturer. It's like a match made in heaven. It probably helps that TVR needed the extra change in 2002.
I really don’t remember any other game to use licensed vehicles in an open world crime game. Driver 3 had licensed cars but only in resemblance and not in names.
The Getaway was/still is THE best open world game EVER in term of vehicle selection. Matched only by DRIVER San Francisco. Thanks for the vid, such a cool trip down the memory lane :)
Considering all the trouble they had with these cars, it's astonishing that Black Monday had such a great variety of vehicles in comparison to the first game.
The vehicles in the game were amazing and very detailed, from the TVR’s, Skylines and all the Mitsubishi’s. I used to wonder whatever happened to the BMW that was in the trailer.
Loved this! Nice to see a collab between a Dev and RacingFreak. I’m wondering why the 2000s Saab 9-3 and Saab 9-5 were cut from Black Monday despite Saab being in both games?
I remember seeing a trailer for Black Monday where a second generation Saab 9-3 could be seen backing down a driveway and racing along the Themes. I alway wondered what happened to that car.
I loved the fact that in the Getaway they actually had cars based off real cars. Personally i love the fact that many Rovers got put into the game Especially the Rover 200 :)
Really wondering how vehicle licensing in this game works, licensed cars getting heavy damage and explodes while their manufacturers still accepting them at the other hand, actual racing game franchises dowgrades damage models each new release
I would have loved to see the Renault Laguna 1 phase 1 or 2 in some game and especially current. I recognize that it has appeared in games like TOCA Touring Car Championship, TOCA2, Gran Turismo 2, but even so I find insufficient appearances. Understand if it is perhaps not a car as iconic as the Mini, but there are other more iconic cars that have not appeared in a game either. On the other hand, I see (with good eyes the same) games with thousands of RX7, Civics, Skylines, etc. but the thing is that sometimes one expects different cars that do not appear in another game. Perhaps I am very detailed and demanding. I do not know haha. Forgive my long comment, I wanted to share my general opinion regarding cars in games. 😉 Anyway I affirm that I play like Getaway they have added many cars that did not appear in any other game and that is valuable. That means working with a love for cars and video games.
Shame they didn't include other buses like the ALX400 and the Plaxton President Dennis Trident buses as I am sure Dennis might have granted permission to use their vehicles. As for the Porsche branding. Didn't Team Soho approach RUF? They are similar to Brabus and if RUF granted a licence as they have modified porsches. That might have worked as they did allow RUF in Gran Turismo 2 and upwards.
I can't believe they had a Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 and cut it - that would have been one of my favourite all-time cars in one of my favourite all-time games. The model for it looks absolutely amazing!
I remember being really excited for that ps3 black Monday teaser, should be another one on ps5 and really go for the cinematic realism with a next gen engine
I played get away black Monday and it's was fun enjoyed playing it! Loved the real cars and the shooting part of the game, I need to play it again now that I'm older 😃
10:29 man seeing now that vw golf mk2 was cut from getaway hurts me so much as a bosnian im beyond pissed i wish we could return all cut cars but if i could choose only 2 cars to return i would choose bmw 5 series and golf mk2. I cant believe it golf mk2 didnt come to the final game damn it!
15:54 Therefore Subaru should have appeared in the game. And by saying that it is a sports car, it suggests that it had to be an Impreza WRX GC or a Legacy.
I was thinking that technically the mini could have been added how you ask? ROVER rover owned mini before bmw and considering that rovers are in the game they could of asked to use the ROVER mini
Depends, BMW could have still retained the rights to the shape of the mini itself and would have been quite defensive of it. I guess in the end it wasn’t worth the time and effort negotiating some way to include the mini in the game. Although possibly like the transit modifications they could have done something similar and had a mini inspired car
When BMW asset stripped and destroyed AustinRover they took all the rights to the Mini. So even if they wanted too I don't imagine Rover could've let them use the Austin Mini.
Thank you Matt and Racingfreak for putting this together. It's amazing to see these cars in the game again.
@KeoneArt yup they were mine, although if Phil Harrison and Ken Kutaragi-san had not supported the idea it would have not come to fruition.
The cars that did make it to the game are pretty awesome too!

Awesome retro Info :D
Thank you for being in it. Brilliant stuff.
Dudes needs to make The Getaway 2 also!
Team soho: *make wonderful car models*
Car manufacturers: "oi mate you got a loicense for that?"
True
RockstarGames: T2 said its Chinese Rep.
Maybe thanks to all those Audi/BMWs lost due license issues I can drive my Lexus IS200 in the game
Ese gustiiiin, meterme en el puñetero discord, que ya me he cansado de estar fuera😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Tvr is my favourite
this is epic, shame the BMWs got cut!

Hearing a developer's notes about the beta content in a game is awesome
Why is the end card shown over the entire video? If it's deliberate, the "subscribed" thing across the whole video is pretty condescending.
I loved the fact that in the Getaway they actually had cars based off real cars. Personally i love the fact that many Rovers got put into the game Especially the Rover 200 :)
We NEED a next gen Getaway !!
Man ! Imagine making the models BEFORE you've got the licenses ! That's mental !
Really wondering how vehicle licensing in this game works, licensed cars getting heavy damage and explodes while their manufacturers still accepting them at the other hand, actual racing game franchises dowgrades damage models each new release
@Scud Ferrari and burnt themselves?
Make the Black Monday version too please! =3
Also great video as always.

Yes! Super excited to see this after watching Racingfreak's cut cars video. Highly looking forward to watching it.
getaway black monday must be one of my favorite games
Thank you Matt and Mike! It was a great pleasure working together and an honour helping out with the video editing!

I would pay good money for a new getaway game. I still like the way the game looks.
WOOOOO!
I remember being really excited for that ps3 black Monday teaser, should be another one on ps5 and really go for the cinematic realism with a next gen engine
Our boy RacingFreak making it to the big time! Woo!
This game needs to be ported to PC stat.
The fiesta police car was only featured in the playable demo but was replaced by the Peugeot 306 in the retail release
I should replay and finish the game one day.
Do you think if the getaway happened today the car companies would be more ok with it as games are arguably bigger than films now
Sad that BMW never made it, still loved the The Getaway series had fun driving around
I played get away black Monday and it's was fun enjoyed playing it! Loved the real cars and the shooting part of the game, I need to play it again now that I'm older 😃
Yeah! Can't wait to watch this!

Seeing Hammond on a motorbike would make my month.
Wow, this is going to be fantastic.
Thanks for making my childhood good
Bro, we want this game for PS5/PC/XboxSX
15:54 Therefore Subaru should have appeared in the game. And by saying that it is a sports car, it suggests that it had to be an Impreza WRX GC or a Legacy.
Probably a WRX GC, proper yob mobile, common in the uk, and if ford were out were probably the best replacement for a cosworth
Porsche Cars got cut due to EA am I right
I'm pretty sure I drove a Daihatsu Sirion on The Getaway... Maybe it was on Black Monday... I can't remember right now...
Nice one!
Very excited...!
Woah :o
the Skoda Felicia, the only car to have been cut for being too bland and boring 🤣
Hope they will make a Getaway 3
Did not know BMW owned the license for the classic Mini 0_o
In my mind the 18th Oct is already here and I'm watching gleefully.
Yes Matts a D/A/D fan! Good taste!
Watch Dogs Legion return to London, why sony canceled The Getaway 3
what.
Awesome bit of insight. I love these types of videos
Can we get a remaster 🤔🥺
Ridiculous how people can control what you put in a fucking game. It's not like it takes away from other game opportunities. Greed at it's finest.
Very very cool insights.
Is there a way to play this game on PC?
i dont like the video layout personally
Ha as if you created the trophy system man. I’m a massive trophy hunter 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So sad there are no E36s :(
We really need a 3rd game out
Yet games like CarXdrift can have 100 cars that arnt licensed?
I always wondered what happened to the Bentley turbo r and the jag XJ. Good to know. Now I wanna buy an old ps2 and play this game again
This game’s going amazing.
the giddaway
no images of the Subaru?!
11:30 i strongly disagree......
I wish the getaway was on pc
Interesting
Эх... жаль, что здесь нет русских.
