Siena, thanks to its historical and artistic beauty, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.
The city, according to legend, was founded by the two brothers Senio and Ascanio, members of the family of Romulus and Remus.
During the Middle Ages, Siena was ruled first by the Lombards and later by the Franks. They were responsible for the construction of the Via Francigena, which facilitated trade with other cities. At the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, Siena experienced a strong period of economic growth and development. The Government of Nine, also known as Buongoverno, arose after the Ghibelline defeat and consisted of electing nine men who, in turn, would govern the city for two months. It was this government that was entrusted with the realisation of many urban works.
During this period, the art of the Sienese School developed, characterised by the preciousness of the colours and a refined technique. The most important exponents of this lively artistic period include Duccio di Buoninsegna, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Giovanni and Nicola Pisano.
In 1348, due to the plague that struck the city, the Government of the Nine fell, putting an end to an era of great development and solidity.
The Duchy of Siena, also known as the New State, lost its independence and became part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany under the authority of Cosimo I de' Medici in the 16th century. It managed to maintain its institutions and magistracies until the reforms of the second half of the 18th century.
The University of Studies (one of the oldest universities in Italy) helped to maintain its cultural position.

Molto bello, apprezzo soprattutto l'andamento lento delle riprese e la musica che fa percepire il silenzio notturno della città e quasi anche l'atmosfera e gli odori che si percepiscono percorrendo a piedi i vicoli e le piazze, quando la frenesia del giorno lascia il tempo alla riflessione e alla meditazione

Nel centro di Siena, a parte qualche eccezione, l'illuminazione è veramente bassa. Ho usato Osmo pocket 3 e sono andato per tentativi perché, ripeto, la luce in alcuni contesti era veramente poca, tipo zona Duomo. Alla fine ho usato la modalità low light, ha delle limitazioni ma è quella che a parità di condizioni rendeva meglio.
