  • POV Test ride and review of the 2015 Yamaha FJ-09/MT-09 Tracer touring motorcycle. I ride the bike around the city and on the highway and give my thoughts and impressions on how it rides.
    From Yamaha's website: "New for 2015!
    847cc liquid-cooled, in-line 3-cylinder, DOHC, 12-valve “Crossplane Crankshaft Concept” engine derived from the award winning and media favorite FZ-09. This engine combines advanced high tech components including YCC-T® and Yamaha D-Mode, with a crossplane concept crankshaft to deliver an exciting, torquey and quick-revving engine character.
    •Equipped with Traction Control System (TCS), ensures smooth starts even on wet road surfaces and unpaved roads. The system can be turned on and off by the rider.
    •YCC-T is Yamaha’s exclusive ride-by-wire throttle control system derived from MotoGP® technology. YCC-T works in unison with the Traction Control System and gives the rider quick throttle response.
    •Touring amenities include a height adjustable windshield, side fairing, adjustable riding position, 12V electrical outlet and a generous 4.8 gallon fuel tank. The FJ-09 is ideal for the daily commute, short fun rides, or weekend getaways.
    •Anti-lock brakes work to help prevent wheel lock during braking.
    •Multi-function dot matrix LCD instrument panel is designed to visually relay FJ-09 data to the rider quickly and clearly.
    •A modern and stylish LED headlight offers superior visibility and complements the FJ-09’s design.
    •Slim-design hard bags, a Genuine Yamaha Accessory, provide storage convenience.
    •Accessory top case is available for storage convenience and touring enjoyment."

    I just rode one today after riding an MT-07, and I loved it! Subbed!

      JP1970 I’ve seen your comments on the fj videos I’ve watched. Did you end up buying one? If so do you like it? I’m looking at the fj or maybe a ktm 1090.

    Great vid!
    I rode one of these the other day and loved it! I'm also 5'11" and the seat was set on the high setting and I could just flat foot. I think you can drop it almost an inch. The screen is also adjustable with two knobs on the side of the instruments. And I watched another vid where the reviewer had a Givi wind deflector on top of the screen which might be a goer.

    I have an fz09 and my uncle has the same year 2019 fj09. Rode it for the second time today, it was new the first ride and was as smooth as the fz but now with 5k miles it vibrates a ton, struggles throughout the rpm range with its stock tuning, and is way less comfortable at low speeds. It also feels weird under hard acceleration with those soft forks being topped out. That says, it’ll pull 40 to 100+ in what feels like 1 second. Plenty of power

      The fj responds way worse in corners, is too tall, and overall feels like the front tire is going to wash out if you hit sand. Gears are also too short for highway use. Windshield send all of the air to your helmet and the mode control is completely useless. Fz is a better bike if you like to race it around but is still arguably a better built bike

    I'm totally going to ride this at the yamaha demo day next week here in Orlando! After riding the fz07, I know I had to try the 09 out! :)

      archinuk417 if its there I will, ryno6hundo hit me up and wants to go next weekend. I have never done a demo day, hope we can make it on time to actually ride. I hear its first come first serve.

    • @arch417powersports
      @arch417powersports  8 років тому

      NicheRiding Yeah you wanna show up half an hour before they start the first one and I think you can reserve two bikes at that point.

    • @NicheRiding
      @NicheRiding 8 років тому

      archinuk417 ok, you can only ride 2 all day or is it 2 then re register?

    • @arch417powersports
      @arch417powersports  8 років тому

      NicheRiding Yamaha only lets you ride 3 per day. You can register for two if you get there early and then re register for the third one after your second ride.

    Looking at the odometer it looks like this bike had over 37,000 miles on it. Is that right? Do the demo bikes accumulate that many miles. I have one by the way. Great bike!

    I dont know what vibrations he's talking about? I have one and it is very easy to ride and safe in standard mode. But in a mode if really goes.

    Yeah its pretty good right? True the wind noise on the helmet is caused by the screen, thats a bad thing for vloggers. You should try the comfort seat ;) it makes a world of difference.

      +TheAdorableTauren Great bike all around. Not my first choice style of bike but still tons of fun and easy to ride.

      I prefer it over the FZ-09. The throttle is not snatchy like the FZ is, you can corner at very low speed with ease because of the throttle and you get extras. Same engine and power but the FZ has the better looks for a bad boy. It looks pretty good for a bike of its own.

    Obviously it's not 900 supersport cc's, and standard mode seemed tame.. Could this serve as a starter bike for someone?

    • @arch417powersports
      @arch417powersports  8 років тому

      +dxone973 I would say definitely not. I do have pretty good control of the bike when I ride it but a beginner would have a harder time adjusting to the torque and the way it turns.

      archinuk417 right on, I figured it was your experience level talking, in regard to it being a pretty mild mannered machine..

      He was riding it tame but it throws you back in the seat, I really like it becauze you don’t have to downshift in hills In cruising Rpms. I’d say the power is like a 600 super sport but all In the low end but it still goes 140 apparently
