The NEW Milwaukee Tool M18 PACKOUT Light/Charger has updated LEDs that increase light output and runtime providing all-day lighting ability with the option of charging a battery while in use. Being a PACKOUT system, this light is portable and powerful. The LED lights have 3000 Lumens of what Milwaukee Tool calls TRUEVIEW High Definition Output. Milwaukee claims that the TRUEVIEW High Definition Output allows the user the closest possible experience as one would get with normal sunlight. This allows for easy color recognition and is easy on your eyes for long term working situations.
Beyond just being portable, the lights on this PACKOUT include three independent rotating light heads. The rotating lights allow for complete control over the lighting direction. There are three different modes (All Lights, Main Panel, or Back/Front Lights), each including high, medium, and low settings. On low with the two smaller lights, Milwaukee Tool claims up to 31 hours of runtime with one M18 REDLITHIUM XC 5.0 Battery. There is also an AC input for all-day runtime and M18 Battery charging.
The Milwaukee Tool PACKOUT Light is IP54 rated and allows you to charge devices with the 2.1AMP USB output and store small items inside the storage compartment.

I hope they come out with a Milwaukee packout Fleshlight for those long lonely nights working out in the field.
Wish they would put the power cord connection on the vacuum as well. Would be a great upgrade.
They could have made it hold/ charge 2 batteries and give it the m18 topoff capabilities, then I’d buy it
Now that is cool. Every contractor is gonna want it. Especially the plumbers.
Great. Now my plumbing bill just got larger.
Just picked this up for my dad as a Father’s Day gift. He does new construction plumbing where a lot of the times there’s no electricity. Sometimes he has to get into a dark attic or a dark craw space, this should work perfectly. Most of his tools are Milwaukee, so he should love this.
Would have bought if there was a top that opened for tool storage.
Seems like a good bit of dead space. A little storage up too would have been nice.
The light is cool seems like they need a new designer tho unless there is a inverter inside there to run 120 why the hell didn’t they utilize the extra space for other random things like say a removable inspection light that charges when it’s docked I have ideas for days
There's literally a rectifier inside the device, drivers and controllers for the LEDs and different modes and adequate space for cooling the electronics. I don't think there really is much void space to work with after all that.
I picked this up Sunday, to go with. Y Packout m18 Shopvac I got 2 weeks ago. Mainly for a charger, but also water resistant lights (on ridgids 18v line with all their severely not water resistant anything). It'll take 4.5hrs to charge my 12ah, but I charge overnight so not to worried.
If I were in the milwaukee platform would I buy this? NO but what I like about milwaukee making things like this light is the fact it forces other companies to also innovate.
I think for the packout users, they will buy it. Is it for everyone? No, but it will be popular.
@@WorkshopAddict it will 100% be popular but for me it's just one more thing to bring to the job site and keep track of. This light will definitely grow legs and take a hike if you know what I mean. 🤦🏻♂️
@@justgregnow Agree! It's sad but lately it seems that people have less and less respect for others and their property on the jobs items. Even in my small town.
@@justgregnow but also the fact that it's pack out means it with my radio, my shopvac, my cooler, my other boxes with tools and bits and accessories, and my light I now only have to make one trip to and from my vehicle to my job site because even as basic as the three main pieces of the pack out are having it as a rolling dolly system that stacks and the fact of mine is 7 ft tall at 5 ft 7 and 170 lb I'm able to roll my entire tool system with me anywhere I go as long as there's an elevator getting to different floors is not a problem but where I live that's not an issue. If they were to have some sort of ladder and also a job site workbench that is compatible with the pack out that you can keep in the same stack I would be set to go. I've already seen a patent for the actual packout ladder that looks really interesting and would be awesome if they did it since it would literally fold up and be part of the handle system on the dolly box which just seems brilliant to me but who knows if they'll actually come out with it or not a lot of people give the actual packout dolly itself a lot of grief and gripe saying that it's cheap plastic so maybe they'll come out with a different version of it as for now it's perfectly integrated with my system and works great for me but I can see how others would not like this system as much but then again they don't really market their one key technology and app as much as they should considering how awesome it actually is and how it beneficial it could be to everybody using Milwaukee tools or any tools for that matter cuz you can buy tags and ticks especially and stick them on any tool you want to .
It needs to also charge 12v batteries. This replaces nothing. I still have to pack a dual charger, and a roving light. So this only solves me hanging a light on my packout. Swing and a miss.
We might get a redesign that has more space. I’m on the fence just because the storage is just a bit too small; if it had enough space to store a XC5 or XC6 along with a few screwdrivers and maybe one or two wrenches (10-12in. long) then I’d definitely get one. Hopefully we get a slight redesign. 🤞
I ordered early, about 4 months ago and it shipped about a month ago. I also ordered the new packet vac.
I agree with everything you said. I’d like to have seen a roll up extension cord that made the hookup easy and convenient.
I’d also like to have seen a little better use of the hollow internal space... if I’m right, based on a standard rapid charger, there is still quite a bit of space inside. Even better...... I’d like the unit to also function as a power outlet that once could plug into.
On a side note.... the new vacuum is a big improvement over the previous portable unit!!! I wish standard filter bags were available at Home Depot or Lowe’s
Great for camping the surf fishing
For that size I don't know why it's not at least 6000 lumens.
But I am sure it'll be out next year
Always leave room to improve upon quickly. :)
Still waiting for it. Just caved and bought it lol @forfinkly
As a road side mechanic working on tractor trailer this would be amazing
They shoulda put some speakers in it, I realize thats stepping on the feet of the pack out radio, so maybe gen2 packout radio add lights and additional functions, like a multi bay multi volt charger.
Looks Awesome and because it's a Packout I will probably get it. But! In reality I would much rather just use a headlamp
I'm not a fan of head lamps but I'm also not a fan of that expensive lights but I don't know
The M stands for Magic!!!
Nice product. I’m just missing USB-C output. Maybe even input as it doesn’t seem to have a big electricity demand so 100 W USB-C PD should be just fine.
Would an extra battery fit in the little cubby?
It's possible I misunderstood, but do you charge the box, which can charge a battery? Or does the battery power the entire unit?
I see lot of uses due to Packout compatibility.
Not for the average Joe!
I checked this out today at Home depot and I was surprised that it only has 1 USB connector to charge a phone. 😰
And you can also plug it on
I think that their gen 2 should include a duplex outlet. I know it is asking alot to charge, light and then power but I could see it being useful
Radios charge, play and have extra outlets. Totally makes sense!
does anyone know how long this light last with a 12.0 HO battery on all 3 lights on HIGH?
do you guys think you'll ever do a torture test with other brands and not just the brushless makita set that you did ? , would actually love to see these as some brands are good quality but don't seem to have good life span.
We have torture tested a lot of tools. We can take a group out and see how they last without issue. You must like the excavators in the Makita testing? Not the trucks and sand in the others?
Pretty awesome.
Just finally ordered one. Question, you can run the lights with power cord correct? Thanks again for great video.
Woohoo - Santa dropped one on me today; must have been a really good boy. This will be heavy use in the stack until the wife steals it for her workshop. Will be watching for people’s mods.
My favorite piece
Good review. I loved my m18 rocket until it got damaged due to flooding. Quick to deploy, various height range, particularly at the tallest setting was key for me. If you had to choose between the rocket and this packout light, is there a clear winner? IMO lights typically on the floor can be blinding unless you're working in a concentrated area, and unless the output is so great you can bounce the light off the walls etc.
I use my rocket light 10 to 1 over the packout light.
I actually took some steel tubing that I had that has a pin locking system that extends vertically and took that $25 LED job site light from Home Depot that husky makes it's 12,000 lumens and built a metal frame at the top to hold the legs onto and add some thicker cold rolled steel pieces that I got from a job I used to work at to get it to wait so it wouldn't tip over now that thing stands about 15 ft tall and I can take that 12,000 lumen LED light and angle it down and it's a street light basically now it's probably the best thing I've ever made because I can pop that thing up in my yard at night when I want to work on something now the daylight hours are shorter and my sunlight is increased because it's basically what it is it's a miniature sun. It is ridiculously bright. I may not be able to cut the cord on it but I can tell you one thing that it is more than worth the $25 asking price that they had listed for I wish I would have grabbed several more for the people in my neighborhood would probably just hate me in every way if I have to have more than one. Even with it pointed down the light reflecting off of everything is still ludicrous in every way.
This lights up a dark area to change light fixtures without taking it off the packout.
Great for ppl that work in buildings . Big projects. I thought it help things inside. As a tile worker it would just be a luxury. Not really a need. But nice. Still enjoy the reviews and the info,
Mid torque 1/2” Gen II please.
Its sweet!
This, but with cords on the lights with magnets on the back of the lights.
I need it !
Does this come with a AC cord or do you just use an extension cord?
How harsh is the light? I have the little M12 light and find it almost unusable because the light is so glaring. I usually always use my Makita fluorescent tube style light.
is it waterproof
Cool, but to bulky of a package for most of what I get into ~ but that’s my work flow.
I appreciate that you know it is not for you but might be for other people. thumbs up!
Way too big to JUST be a light. Also would have liked to turn on and off the 3 lights individually to save battery when 3 aren't needed. Its just not practical for someone who does not have a PACKOUT system
It seems like there's a just ton of wasted space inside there. LED drivers and battery charger circuits just don't take that kind of volume. Witness the Top-Off; it even has a 175 watt AC inverter and is scarcely bigger than an M18 battery. I don't mind the cost in the least, but the form factor seems a bit excessive given its capabilities. Maybe if it had an M12 charge bay, or an additional M18 battery slot, or bigger stowage for the big-ass phones everyone has these days.
What’s next??pack out microwave???
I really think they could do a lot more with the Packout stuff. Including making battery chargers and carriers.
@@WorkshopAddict i hear you ,I love pack out also , we’ll see what they come out with next!!! Thanks for the reply!!!
wait! coffee machine first!!!
Still waiting for a pack out truck jumper 12 amp with clamps
Needs a packout coffee maker...
Put the phone in side on kitty corner maybe.
Or maybe carry around a golf ball to prop up one end of the phone, so you can shut the door. Or flip the light box onto the face opposite the phone compartment, so you can lay the phone on a diagonal without gravity fighting you, and once the door is closed, lay the light box back down.
Why oh why isn't there more lithium packs in there?? This thing needs modding so badly. How much empty space is there in this thing?
the slot for the phone should vertical, narrower & much deeper.
It cannot go deeper because the battery compartment is on the other side.
First! Great system.
🍻🍺👍
i bought this and then returned it.
Why? I'm thinking about getting one. I'd like to know what your thoughts are
Too expensive
Mine....I licked it first.
No sense
2 nd
I very much like mine, but she is a thirsty girl.
Did a good job hiding this lights negatives, this light could've been great but it's not
OK, fill me in. What are its negatives?
The storage could be bigger, there could be a top handle similar to the ammo can toolbox that stuff alone shouldn't effect price
I think it is a very stupid product. It's a Packout storage system component and doesn't have space for storage (lol), if you use to light some areas is very unconfortable, big, rare to use and any other Milwaukee or other brand light is lighter, compact and has the sale or more lumens, if you use as charging station you can only charge one battery, charges slower and as you said and extension cord, that it is not included and there is no place to store it, is requiered. I repeat it's a very stupid product, i repeat, i repeat...
Can easily store a 15' 16/3 extension cord in the side compartment.
I thought it was pretty cool
