Thank you nice to finally see who is doing the turning and to hear that you r a pastor is wonderful loved watching this video and looking at what can be made selling Everything I have turned I have given away I really enjoy Blessing people with the gift that the Lord has Blessed me with. Blessings to you and yours .
Great turning tips, great details about the tools and the time and money invested. I'm about to start turning cups for reenactment, and this video is a saver. Thank you!
Very interesting video to watch. I am one of the lucky turners who gets all of his wood for free and sometimes even paid to cut the tree down. Very nice job making the big bowls very similar. They could sell for more as a set.
This is probably one of my favorite videos because I can now understand your process better and what all the machines are. I am intrigued by all the steps and tools you use. How long did it take you to acquire all the tools and machines? Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself. Always love your videos.
Beautiful work. Simple and elegant with the walnut. Knowing your market really helps on pricing. I’m lucky where I am in WV. I use a formula the guy from turn a wood bowl uses and it has been a great template for me. Diameter times the height then take that and either times it by two or two point five. You’re right, you won’t get rich as a turner but if you love what you do it isn’t work. It’s a love.
Now go back and make small blanks out of the corners by adding a contrasting wood as you glue them into a star shape, then trim off the corners. They make excellent small dishes with interest. And if you embed a rare earth magnet to the foot, they become magnetic dishes which really sell well or make great gifts.

Thanks! I do envy you! I can get some stuff for free, but here in Colorado, there is very little hardwood.
I make enough money on my wood turning to purchase more wood. Thanks for sharing!
Right on! that’s always been my goal, too!

Wow, thank you! I started with a cheap lathe and super cheap turn g tools. I have gradually added higher quality tools over the last 4 years.
Thanks for the video!

You bet!
You might want to watch some Richard Raffan videos to add some grace notes to the design and finish of the bottoms of your bowls.
