Kitty Hawk-Class |The U.S. Navy's "Forgotten" Aircraft Carrier

The Kitty Hawk-class supercarriers of the United States Navy were an incremental improvement on the Forrestal-class vessels. The Kitty Hawk class were built to an improved design. The four Kitty Hawk class aircraft carriers in reality constitute three sub-classes that are easily distinguished from their predecessors by the fact that their island superstructures are set farther aft.
