    Below you'll find complete instructions as well as products used in this video.
    I wanted to come up with an idea of something to do with leftover diamonds from diamond paintings. I found the magnets in the craft department of my local Dollar General store. The magnets come in a pack of two from Bright and Bold called Assorted Magnets. They sold a few different designs, butterflies and flowers were available in my local store.
    I started by painting the magnet with acrylic paint pens from Niutop, link: tinyurl.com/yyx3qbjc and once the paint was dry, I took a foam brush from the Dollar Tree link: tinyurl.com/y5egsl4g and painted a thin coat of Aleene's Tack it Over and Over glue link: tinyurl.com/y6xloms3. Once the glue was dry, I went through my diamond storage and found colors that would work well with the paint beneath. I added a link to my diy diamond storage video link: tinyurl.com/y2l7dm52
    I completely covered the magnet with diamonds, working from the outside in. I wanted to have a row of blue diamonds to surround the image, so made sure if the image beneath was too close to the edge of the magnet for a row of blue diamonds, I painted the image further from the edge to allow for the row of blue diamonds. It's important to use a few different color tones (different blues, greens, etc) as this adds to the overall look.
    Once the diamonds are set into the glue, the magnet is ready to be displayed, or, in my case, to use on a card.

      @@craftingforalmosteveryone well, I actually JUST discovered Diamond painting & completed a few small bookmarks this weekend. It was so much fun, so meditative & peaceful but when I saw how many bits I had left over I thought “😫 Here we go again! storing things, finding a use for leftovers, etc etc” but this idea is perfect! Embellishments for journal pages, happy mail, etc. Now I feel like I can get some more kits with less guilt! 😅 Thanks again for sharing!

      I buy a mostly crystal diamond projects whenever I can so the leftovers are things I know I will use, as opposed to the opaque ones you find with paintings. And frankly, I can't find enough people to give paintings to, so I prefer making diamond painted journals, bookmarks, you name it, I've tried it. You can find really inexpensive diamond projects on temu, if you shop there. I really love exactly how you described the way this craft makes you feel, as I feel the same way. One note since you're a beginner--a lot of people like the square diamonds for paintings and I find them to be problematic as you have to have all the exact same size or your painting will go off kilter (hope you know what I mean there) and I have a lot better luck with rounds. Also, if you ever decide to do a painting, the bigger the painting, the happier you'll be with the results as smaller ones 30 x 40 or 40 x 40 will appear distorted close up and you'll have to step back several feet to know what it is..If you're going to do a painting, you'll be unhappy with the smaller ones. I have a lot of videos about diamond paintings and the mistakes I've made along the way. Hope I helped. Sandy

    What a great idea to use up extra diamond dots. My daughter and I do diamond dot projects together. I save the extra dots and this is the perfect project to use them on.

      So glad you liked the idea. I don't think I would have been happy if I hadn't painted under the diamonds, as I don't think a white background looks right around the diamonds..Hope you give it a try..Sandy

      I need to do an updated video on diamond paintings because after you've done a few, you really understand what you like and don't like doing. I don't like using square drills, as you have to make sure every single drill (diamond) is exactly the same size as the one before, or your rows don't line up. I like doing diamond paintings with the diamonds that look more like crystals, as those paintings seem to be easier to do and take less time, and I like to keep those crystals that are leftover, as they work great on cards, these magnets, and wood projects (you'll see me doing something with a Dollar Tree small wood frame later.) I don't recommend keeping the traditional leftover diamonds, which I did at the beginning, and now I have a lot of them and no idea what to use them for. If you have any questions about diamond paintings, please ask, as I would be happy to help if I can. saundralparker@yahoo.com. I will say the whole diamond painting experience is the first crafty thing I've ever done that is totally relaxing, and I've done a lot of crafty things....Sandy

    Your always thinking outside the box and glad that your sharing them with us....the flower magnet is really pretty.
    I'm happy to say that I took Vince's eagle out and I try to work on it everyday.....it's a large diamond painting but I figure everyday is a good thing....lol

      @craftingforalmosteveryone  3 роки тому

      I'm so glad you're forging ahead with Vince's eagle and I can't wait to see a photo of it when it's done. My first diamond painting was a huge one and I have to say, I wish I'd tried some smaller ones first, as I made a lot of mistakes (including getting my sleeve stuck to it so much that the stickiness was gone.) I learned so much from that painting and wish I'd learned it on a smaller project instead, as I was so frustrated that it wasn't fun any more.

    What a great idea to use the extra diamonds. I actually learned 2 new things to try out. The diamonds in a stamping project but to switch up my colors too. I reverse how you color by putting my darker shades where you put the lighter ones and my lighter where you did darker. I love it when I learn new things and you’re great at inspiring me to go outside of the box!
    p.s. I have a small box of goodies heading that way real soon. I hope you like 😊

      You're so sweet....I'm not sure I followed how you switch up colors...maybe we'll email about it. Sometime I switch out colors on diamond paintings when I don't like the way a word reads and need to fix one of the first paintings I did, as I never liked the words, but at that time, didn't feel confident in changing out diamonds for different colors...Now I'm not happy until it looks the way I want, so pop out lots to get the look I want.. So excited you're sending me something....YAY

    Hey Sandy! I gotta tell you that this turned out so so beautiful! What a great idea for all the little left over sparkly gems. I think these gems. Ishtar be the same kind I use on my cards to add a little pizzazz to them. I’m going to have to see if I can find some magnets with this kind of design at Dollar Tree when I can get to one. Mine is so small that 90% of the cool things I see people haul aren’t at mine. I’ve taken the small and larger fish bowl type of vases and made snowmen top hats for Christmas and rabbits with little blue sparkly hats with ears of course and feet. The rabbits I did all out of cardstock even the face but I used the buttons for the eyes same as my snowmen. I thought that they turned out pretty darn cute! I’m looking forward to trying something like this! These would make great teacher gifts for Christmas! Thanks for always coming up with some of the most darling ideas for crafts. I used to only make cards, but now you have broadened my horizons! Bye for now!

You can't spit without hitting a dollar general store in our area. I can count eight stores within 10 miles of me...Overkill? Maybe...haha....but they've expanded their craft departments and have a lot of fun things there...Hope you find magnets...Sandy
