Is the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon the MOST capable midsize truck EVER?

  • The Jeep Gladiator is the most unique out of all of the midsize trucks, nit only from a styling standpoint but also off roading. Under the hood is a 3.6L V6 pumping out 285. It s exterior has noting but the lines of if a Jeep Wrangler, but in truck from. On the inside you will be greeted to enough tech to make this to make this a safer Jeep, but also a lot of the tech you come to expect from a Jeep. Has Jeep created the most capable midsize truck for the money?

I agree and such a personal part of any car. Usually the first thing someone notices. Some, like the Stinger are very well executed. None are cooler than the Tesla Model S though. If you haven't seen what they offer, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Hi Joe, How are you? How are you doing?? I just saw the video, and I think this 4-door Gladiator Rubicon jeep car model is excellent. As you know this car model is specially made for off-road, the material is strong, this is due to blows that the car can receive through bad roads, the doors and the roof can also be removed, well like a Toyota land cruiser Jeep for example and it is a great advantage that other 4x4 cars don't have this option. It is sporty and fun car, the detail that I do not agree with this jeep, the price, is very expensive. $ 60,000, I think it's a lot, I'd rather get a Ford Raptor. Good video. Thank you for the video Joe.

  • @natek9dogg

Going to have to zonk ya on a few things. The side vents are indeed functional. They keep the hood from fluttering. You mentioned that there was no power source, not enough tie downs or a bed liner. These are all options that should at least be mentioned. Speaking of options your payload and towing numbers are not for the Rubicon. That max is for a Sport S with max towing. The entertainment system is 8.4 not 8.8 inch. Besides those things love the review your passion really shows. Good work !!!`

    Some ownership experience..
My wife had her Wrangler for almost 5 years now since new with close to 80k miles.
2 main reliability issues..we had to fix our stuck calipers twice - one in the rear and one in the front. One was thankfully done under warranty but had to replace pads and rotors out of our pocket.
Another big issue is the leaking convertible hardtop. It will leak, not a matter of if but when. Stupidly we tried the dealership to fix it. "Convertible" tops are usually not covered under warranty. Cost us north of 500$ and the damn thing is still leaking. Returned many times and they say it doesn't leak under their watch. Now I'm using camper van tape to seal certain areas.
Other than that, car has been great. No other leaks, or issues. Auto transmission is a little wonky but strong as new. Drives great!
Would my wife get another one once we drive this to the ground? I'd say 50/50.

First thing's first... I love the Gladiator, it's officially my new dream truck and plan to get one for myself. But, the reality is, its not a very 'good' truck. Yes, its got good towing and payload numbers but, to paraphrase Jurrasic Park... "Just because it CAN doesn't necessarily mean that it SHOULD." First, with towing, I've had the pleasure to test drive a Gladiator twice now, and while I think it's just about the most fun you can have on 4 wheels, it's solid front and rear suspension means that the truck likes to wander around the road a bit. If this truck doesn't like to stay in the lanes when its not towing anything, I certainly wouldn't want to tow anything anywhere near its max towing capacity. Talk about a white-knuckle ride! To add insult to injury, the Gladiator has no Tow/Haul mode, which means you get no extra torque or helpful exhaust braking to help slow a load down. Finally, concerning hauling, notice that the wheel hubs are placed all the way to the front of your bed, this means that carrying any large, heavy object is going to put a lot of strain on the truck as the weight won't be sitting directly over the rear suspension. All that being said, the Jeep Gladiator is definitely a lifestyle truck and if you want a workhorse of a truck you'd be better off considering a Ranger or a Colorado. You'll probably save a few buckaroos that way too. So, in closing, is the Jeep Gladiator the most capable midsize ever? On paper, yes, it has the numbers. But in the real world, on actual pavement? No. A Ford Ranger is much better suited for actual truck stuff. That's just my two cents.

Cannot wait to see what the merger with Peugeot/Citroen (PSA) will do to drag FCA quality even lower. The only thing that would make the merger a trifecta of automotive craptastic "Dumpster fire" is if Renault/Nissan joins the fray. My money is on them coming to the table soon- $60K , for that, lol.

Very nice but not $60K nice. Jeep has gone price happy with raising their prices to high on all Jeep models. Jeep is pricing themselves out of the competitive market against other manufacturers that give you more for your money.

I'm done being sticker shocked. Auto industry as a whole is just out of control with pricing now, and just about every new vehicle seems over priced to me. That being said, i think Jeep can command $60k for this because they are targeting "Jeep guys/girls" that want the top model and another brand is simply out of the question, since Jeep does have a loyal following. Shame we couldn't see you crawl down some steep rocky trail where a vehicle like this is right at home. 😉

Half the fun of owning a jeep is getting to upgrade and making it your own with the amazing support of the off road community... when you start off with a Rubicon.... not much left to do.... anyone using that thing as it is intended has more money than sense... and any who isn't using that thing as it should has no sense.... lol

I know this might sound stupid but , you can get jeep parts really cheap. plus , they probably have more parts available on the aftermarket than any other vehicle that exists today on the road . Its so easy to get parts . Also you should be covered for the first five years anyways . Jus sayin.

Jeeps aren't dependable and dodge customer care is all but non existent. When your way out on the middle of nowhere you need something that will not only get you there BUT BACK as well. The simple truth is that the Jeep brand is over. Over priced, over hyped, poorly designed and worse poorly built. It's a shame really. Your better off buying a 1,500 dollar 1960's 4x4 hell you'll probably get better fuel mileage and definitely better ride quality.
