Ashwin Annamalai, an Indian-origin man who moved to Canada in 2018, found himself at the center of a disturbing encounter that highlights the growing problem of hate incidents against the Indian community in Canada.
The incident took place in Waterloo, Ontario, where Ashwin, now a proud Canadian citizen, was simply out for a walk when he was confronted by a woman filled with anger and ignorance. Without any provocation, the woman lashed out at him, making racist comments and telling him to "go back to India."
