OK so yesterday this video landed in my recommended for you section. At first I thought WTF . Then I thought it might be a nice break from all the tech vlogs I watch . I went ahead and watched. You sir are a captivating presenter and skilled leader. I was forced to go back to the start of your Vlog and watch it all from the beginning. Amazing 24 hours of binge watching with time to sleep and a few other RL things. I say from my heart Captain Sir . Well Done to you and your Crew. Thank-you so much.
SO VERY NICE TO SEE A MAN.....WORK HIS WAY...UP TO HIS DREAM!!! HARD WORK.....HONESTY AND DETERMINATION!!! ABOVE ALL...TREAT PEOPLE....AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED!!!! MY HUSBAND HAS DONE THE SAME....UPON INTRODUCING ME TO PEOPLE..... THE FIRST THING THEY SAY TO ME IS...."WHAT A GOOD MAN I HAVE"!!!! HE MAKES ME PROUD...TO BE HIS WIFE OF 43 YEARS!!!! I VERY MUCH ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS AND AM IMPRESSED....WITH ALL THE INFORMATION .....YOU PUT OUT THERE FOR BEGINNERS!!!! SHE LOOKS BEAUTIFUL!!!
Tristan, watching all these videos of yours taken with the GoPro I'm convinced you are now a World Class one hand ladder climber. Beautiful results on a beautiful ship.
Great video! The owner is lucky to have y'all as crew. The smiles on your and Barbara face, like watching your child, says tons. Have a wonderful season!
Awol is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! What a job, well done! Looking forward to many more videos in the future. Tristan is an excellent, knowledgeable captain, so up too the job.
Congratulations, must be great getting her back in the water. Really looking forward to seeing the sea trials and all the details that come along with getting ready for charter season. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
I enjoy your videos very good information you really care about the boat that a good sign of an amazing captain keep up the good work looking forward to your new videos
The travel lift operator has to have nerves of steel, what a high pressure job that has to be. Great video Captain, and congratulations on getting AWOL back in the water, she is really magnificent! I'm really looking forward to the coming weeks videos.
He's probably deaf from that darn warning beeper going non-stop. I understand safety and all, but if that thing runs you over you probably had it coming.
in a pinch if you have to...you can fill the primary and secondary fuel filters directly with diesel and use the starters to crank and it will prime the engine. Hard on the starters though, much easier to just bleed the air since you have the fuel above the engines, but if for some reason you cant... Those little hand pumps are also famous for failing and causing lots of engine issues regarding fuel aeration... Love diesels!
WOW Tristan, this was exciting. Holding my breath through most of it. The smile on your face and the excitement in your voice said it all. Congrats 🎉🎊💪👏👍👌. Can't wait to see her moving. This whole series has been outstanding
I like how much you and your team are so excited and I can tell how much you love your jobs! IT shows, your boss should be very happy, they are lucky to have a crew like yours!! Keep up the great work and videos.
What a very cool video - truly something most people never get to see, especially with the expert narrative and explanation. Well done. Really looking forward to following the channel.
I have used De Laval and Sharplese separators over many years to transfer and t purify oil for Diesels. Both are good separators and I have also used another brand that I have forgotten the name of for purifying fuel for helicopter operations. They are well worth their price as they prolong the engine life and performance.
I am so envious of your job, I'm 53 now and have been in construction my entire career running jobs up to around £500k in the last 20 years, but if I could do it all again I'd want your job :)
to be honest with you, it looks like there is very little yacht under the waterline, it is amazing how this massive thing doesn't capsize, but then again engineering is amazing !
Good to see the major work done. She is looking great. Thanks for mentioning the repaint of the area under the chocks. The boat sits on them all through the other work, and one wonders if those areas ever get any attention! Thanks!
Hey Tristan, nice work on the vlog. Very informative and even though I own a 43 ft vessel I can relate to all the same issues, just in a more compact and less expensive form!
The ALFA LAVAL is a Danish build system ( i dont know if some other Then a Danish company owns is) AlfaLawal is known for farming equiptment as milking devices .. The disel centrifuge is patendet !!
Hi, your yacht looks great.. plenty of cleaning and all. I would have thought that the primary engine fuel priming pump would have been changed out to an electric pump. should be easy to do.?
Brilliant I would of said AWOL is worth more than $10m now she has had all this work carried out. She is now one of the most prestige yacht's an the water in terms of condition. Only saying this as I feel part of the build and followed every blog you have done.. hurry with the next one !!! Before I fly out and see her for myself.
The travel lifts are an amazing engineering design to be able to lift a very heavy boat and transport it to the water or to lift it out of the water . Does she also have stern thrusters ? Where was this filmed ? In France ?
@@ryandoe11 never is an investment unless used for charters. Its a toy for the rich. All boats are toys. Well no working boats arent. Plus Theres upkeep, a crew, maintenance etc, etc
Tristan, have you ever watched videos of yacht launches like this? I cannot believe you trusted them with your yacht when they use such a dangerous method of moving it. Why? I've seen soooo many videos online where this exact method results in the yacht being BADLY damaged or destroyed. In some shipyard disaster videos, the straps sometimes break because they didn't even bother to check the weight. Other times, the CRANE collapses. Then there's the third one (my favorite) the math geniuses have most of the weight on one side so the yacht slips out and hits the concrete! What amazes me is that most of the yachts in accidents are actually significantly smaller than AWOL.
you can pressurize the fuel tank to force the fuel to the engine and bleed injectors to remove air. i used to do that on my truck when i needed to prime the engine. it is much faster than using that little hand pump.
The hand fuel pump will have no problems pulling fuel from the tanks and filling the secondary fuel filters , when they are full and air free the injection pump will cope with any air trapped when the engines are cranked over.
@@marksmallman4572 i guarantee that you will have a sore arm using the hand pump. Which is why I would inject air into the fuel tank to pressurize it while bleeding air from the injectors
Love watching your Vlogs as they are very informative and well done. I must admit though, it does not seem like it has been 6 months since it was lifted out of the water, I supposed that is because you were given regular detailed updates. Well done and keep up the good work.
Hello Tristan! Congratulations on your amazing Channel & Vlogs! I am a subscriber. The upgrade, if we may say so, of AWOL has raised the boat value to $ 10 million. Dollars? Can you tell, how much the boss invested to buy it before the upgrade? an estimate? I am curious to get a sense of how much a boat of this outdated standard can cost, and how much an upgrade like the one that was done. Thanks in advance, Luiz
Very cool! This maybe a dumb question but does the ship's owner have anything to do with all this past paying the bill? Like maybe want to see their ship relaunched or inspect the work done themselves?
From someone in Australia, I thank you for your videos. Such a pleasure and I guess such a dream to be part of your journey. Funny thing though, I recently sailed a charterd 12mtr cat around the Whitsundays and popped into Hamilton island for a short hour stay and they have a smaller dark AWOL that charters out of there. How come the same name can exist, or is there some 'addition' to the name that makes it unique?
From what I can understand, someone can use the same vessel name if it is registered in a different place. Example If a boat is registered as AWOL in Georgetown another could be registered under the same name in Monaco.
I've noticed visual sight tubes for fuel tank volumes and wondered how breakage risk is minimized. Theoretically, if one of those sight tubes broke, the whole fuel tank volume could be released into the engine room with potentially disastrous results.

Fully agree, he is an excellent presenter and seemingly a humble but professional leader. I enjoy his channel a lot.
I want to buy a new yacht
Your excitement and love for the vessel your in charge of and call home is so great to see. Love how much pride and professionalism you have ‼️

WOW.. looks amazing well done Triston and your team, great job.. looks stunning!
Excellent... I'm so happy for you, Tristan, and the entire crew aboard AWOL and she look beautiful. Great job by everyone.

T, for informative tour.
Quite an undertaking! So awesome to see behind the scenes like this. Love your channel
You was like a kid with a new toy watching it being put in the water. Can't wait for the next video thanks Tristan. Cheers Ty
love this channel looking forward to owning my self a yacht in the next 15 to 20 years
It always amazes me that you can just lift a boat like that up and move it around. Those lifts are crazy.

Epic. Damn, I am hooked on these videos now. LOL.
Congratulations! It's funny but I was excited/nervous watching her move and then arrive back in her natural element. Very cool. Thank you!
That was a pleasure to watch, and a long time coming. Can't wait for tomorrow.
This is utterly fascinating. i have built huge machinery so this is on the same scale. It is great to see.

Barbara is always smiling :)
Such a gorgeous vessel.
Neat, the biggest vessel I hauled out on a travel lift was a 65 ton seiner. Must be nice to be able to refit a boat with a nice tidy budget!!

I like how at 11:15 the gentleman politely asked you to bugger off without saying a word
This is incredibly informative, especially for prospective super-yacht buyers. Keep these videos coming.
if you are, well played !
Michael Garlick I agree this video is good information and easy to understand too
Congrats! Time go so fast. AWOL is looking great, and it will be nice to see it running in water again :-)
The Boat is looking good. nice job to you and all the guys.
Very exciting to see AWOL back in the water and happy for the crew as well. Thanks for sharing.
A stunning craft and impressive crane!

I have loved watching the progress of AWOL through your eyes. This is the BEST Vlog. I check every day to see if there is a new post. Thank You....

Congrats man. Finally its in the water.. All the best.
Just started watching. Pretty young Captain, must have started sailing at a very young age.👍🏻
thank you Tristan!
WOW SO EXCITING Thanks for all the vids
Great vid....I wondered how they were going to put the boat back in the water. Thanks for filming that work.
you are really happy. I understand, you are a passionate
Loving the nerdy detail; all I know about boats is Bartholomew Marion Quint.
love watching your vids mate. Keep it up. Have I ever seen AWOL in Hobart Tasmania? I seem to have memories of seeing it but I can't remember where.

Time to put that lift in 2nd gear! My hair is turning gray waiting. Oh wait...my hair was already gray!!!
Dude that's a freakin mangusta 165 next to you! Things a beast it's got a bajillion horsepower LOL
I’m only one Powerball drawing away from making this my home!
Haha me too. Id hire the captain anyday
Dumb purchase... yeah if it was 10 million and done that'd be awesome but boats are an insane continuing waste of money.

In a strange way, I felt like jumping up and start applauding when AWOL hit the water.
Good job, go AWAL!
Fuckin weirdo
Ryan right?
What kind of anti foul? How often is the haul clean and how often is it redone?
What are the stabilisers filled with, looks like concrete.......great vlog Tristan👍

Tristan, I’m curious what she weighs. What was her dry dock weight??
Crazy one owner is bankrolling that whole rebuild over those years and everyone on that dock..
10 weeks rent and another million in the bank
thats a HUGE travel lift....the marina I work at in VT only has a 25 ton 25 BFM ,,,
INTERESTING!!!
THANKS!
Love watching your Vlogs as they are very informative and well done. I must admit though, it does not seem like it has been 6 months since it was lifted out of the water, I supposed that is because you were given regular detailed updates. Well done and keep up the good work.
You need a remote control when tight docking .
Nothing wrong with the quality here :-)
Awesome
That Mangusta 165 in the background though..
She is one BIG ship, but she looks almost tiny next to the yacht next to her.

Very young captain.
Great video! Always exciting too see a launch. What happens if the lift misses the dock with a wheel pair....
Wooo
She looks great, all new and shiny. What would be the rough $ cost for the amount of work done?
How heavy is the boat?
Hey barbara, did u do the throo holes, balves etc?
From when they started moving AWOL, how long did it take to get it in the water?
Ok here is a question. ...Whould you go down with youre ship if soles were not able to abandon ship ?...
Very cool! This maybe a dumb question but does the ship's owner have anything to do with all this past paying the bill? Like maybe want to see their ship relaunched or inspect the work done themselves?
What is the large blister protruding from the hull aft of the stabilizer fin?
Looks to be an overboard discharge. Possibly cooling water discharge from engines.
Best part on videos is technical side

Or what if there was a fire, would these not shatter? and the fuel tank is just inches away. Not sure how this works?
There are shut off valves on both ends of the sight tube, the tube is not normally glass, plastic.
About 1/3 or 1/2 back from the Bow is like a Big Flipper. What does it do?
stabilizer, lessens roll.
When i worked on seperators we always had to prime the unit with water first is that the case with a laval? It was a lube oil seperator BTW on a Sub
I believe Captain Mortlock was pointing to and referencing water-prime of seals at ~1:00 on the video.
