    I have been watching mattress reviews for two weeks now. Yours by far is the most thorough. I was already leaning towards the dreamcloud mattress and now I am completely confident that it is the one that I want. And heck, I get a whole year to decide if it's right for me. You did an amazing review. Thank you! Joe from Indiana.

    Greetings All,
    Here is a review of my experience with the DreamCloud:
    Overall, I would agree with most reviewers that this bed is very good and deserves the excellent reviews it generally gets. In terms of firmness, I find that the DreamCloud has excellent all-around performance, though I feel it is slightly on the softer side even though many reviews say that it's on the firmer side (I'm 6' and about 200 lbs.). It's really comfortable, especially for back sleepers. It does a great job of cushioning support but without that hammock sensation. You do stay on top of the bed but it yields enough for side-sleepers. The Euro-top does not sink in like many pillow-tops, but does support you while also allowing pressure relief.
    Some reviewers have complained about the tufting and stated it was distracting. I don't find that at all. I like the tufts. They're the little "dream clouds" the bed is named after and they are supportive, pressure relieving, and comfortable all at the same time. I don't notice them in any way when I'm sleeping, but when I'm laying in bed reading, they feel very nice.
    For the negatives, the biggest one is the side support. I'm used to traditional coil mattresses and the DreamCloud lacks the rigid sides found on those types of mattresses. (I've never had an all-foam mattress, but I gather that they have almost no side support so maybe that is why the DreamCloud often gets average reviews for side support, rather than negative ones.) My biggest problem is that when we opened the bed (BTW the king size is really big and REALLY heavy) the sides never became fully vertical. They had, and still have, a slight bow to them. The same can be said for the horizontal profile. When the mattress is in the bed frame, a curve is clearly visible from header to footer. This definitely bothers me, though I'm not sure if it affects the performance of the mattress in any way.
    Regarding DreamCloud customer service, or as they term it, Concierge Service, the representatives I have spoken with have been great. In fact, when I called them about the bowing and curving mentioned above, they sent me a new mattress. That is excellent customer service (though it does make you wonder a bit if they've gotten this complaint before and are ready for it). I give them high marks for responsiveness. What I haven't loved are the changing terms. Early on, DreamCloud offered a cleaning service after a year and mattress refurbishment after 5 years. I don't know if I would have used those services, but they were nice to have. They are no longer offered and not available. It also did take a long time (several weeks) for the bed to arrive after ordering (Summer 2018).
    As far as other things are concerned, the mattress appears to be built as well or better that any you find in a retail store. It's heavy and solidly constructed, with nice finishes like the handles and the cashmere topper. The exterior materials are clearly crafted from quality materials and I love the height.
    Perhaps the strongest endorsement comes from my wife who absolutely loves this mattress.
    I hope this helps and would be glad to answer any further specific questions.
    Best,

      I believe there are many recent “changes” to this mattress. We recently purchased this mattress after reading many reviews and watching many videos. Unfortunately this mattress is UNBELIEVABLY firm! I am 6’4 235 lbs and this mattress barely yields! My wife who is much smaller than me also thinks this mattress is a giant brick. It looks very very nice and has the luxury look but there is no point to it having 8 layers and 15 inches when you just lay over the top layer with no give. Very disappointed...

    Hi. Great point about the grooves/valley in the mattress. They seem very pronounced and I'm not sure if it would bother me or not. I'm hesitating between the Dreamcloud and the Brentwood Home Oceano (similar priced, I know you haven't reviewed the latter yet).

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 років тому +1

      Hi +peptoman2222 -- Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I wanted to address that because this kind of quilting isn't something that is found on all mattresses. That said, they definitely look much more pronounced than they feel, and they will only get less pronounced over time. So FWIW, I think there's a very good chance that most people will never even think about these undulations (let alone be bothered by them), especially once you put sheets and a mattress protector on the bed. I hope that's helpful.

    HI there, I am really enjoying your reviews and have been thinking of getting the Dreamcloud. I have gone through 2 new mattress since Jan and am really scared to start the process again. We got a DreamLux Memory Foam that turned out to be too soft and hot, traded it for a Firm Beautyrest Legend but it is too Firm and hurts my back and hips. I am mostly a stomach sleeper, some back and side, My husband mainly a back sleeper. My issue is I weigh about 112 and the beds always feel firmer to me, then my husband. I am a bit worried the Dreamcloud might be too firm? How is it for lightweight sleepers? I was also looking at Awara, Saatva, and the Oceano, but like the 365 night trial.

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. The number of choices out there can get pretty overwhelming pretty quickly. So to start with, I would suggest taking a step back and taking the GoodBed Quiz. This quiz uses a proprietary algorithm that will help you quickly narrow down the options based on your personal requirements, and will spare you from watching videos for a lot of mattresses that ultimately won't match your needs. You can find the quiz here:
      www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/
      I'm not sure the DreamCloud would be great for you -- we class it as a Medium Firm, which means pressure relief may not be as good as you need it to be for your size and weight. Have you considered latex at all? Like memory foam, latex has a great reputation for providing good pressure relief, yet it's not as soft/squishy as memory foam, and is less likely to sleep hot than high-density memory foam. If you get a softer latex, it might provide the softness you need while still being buoyant enough to provide proper spinal alignment for your husband.
      Off the top of my head, something like the Spindle might be worth consideration - it has three layers of natural latex that can be physically re-arranged to change the softness, and that's something that might be appealing to you if you're not sure what your needs are. Here's our review of that mattress:
      www.goodbed.com/reviews/spindle-mattress-review/
      I hope that's helpful.

    Great reviews. I've watched many of your videos in my search for a new mattress. I'm intrigued by Layla, Purple, and Latex for Less. Do you have any knowledge of the latter? Their price point vs quality seems fantastic, but customer service and newness, plus lack of information online, make me nervous. Natural latex might sway me over Purple, though. Thanks!

      Hi Rawley -- Thanks for your question (and your kind words). I'm afraid I don't have any familiarity with that brand. FWIW not only have I never heard of it, but I am seeing that it is not even listed on GoodBed, where almost every brand made in the past 10 years is listed -- including over 2,000 manufacturers and product lines. Sorry I can't be of more help on that one.

      GoodBed thanks for the response! If you get the chance, look up their website. Their price beats Avacado and Nest Q3 (two others I'm looking at) by a quite a bit when you look at 100% natural latex, due to them not using coils. I just need more info.

      Thanks Rawley. The Latex for Less website does look interesting but TBH I need more info as well. Re: the certification differences with the Zenhaven, IMHO there are not material differences on that front. The certification point that we were making in the Zenhaven video is that Zenhaven is not a certified "organic mattress." But neither is Latex for Less. Spindle is not either FWIW.

      Hi Clarence.
      Well, there is no "top" mattress -- at GoodBed we believe mattress shopping is personal, so a mattress that's a great fit for me could be a terrible choice for your needs. That's why we spend so much time talking about sleeper types and positions in our videos -- so readers can get a sense of how their needs match up against a particular mattress.
      You might want to check out our written review for the DreamCloud here: www.goodbed.com/reviews/dreamcloud-mattress-review/

    Hi GoodBed, really appreciate your in-depth reviews. I am interested in purchasing a DreamCloud, but was wondering if you could provide some guidance. My wife and I are combo sleepers but mostly side sleepers. We recently picked up a Sealy Response Premium Cushion Firm (watched your video on Sealy, too) and have found it a bit too firm and unyielding. Years ago we got a very expensive pillow top (can't remember the manufacturer, but name-brand) and really didn't like that one either. Way to soft and sank into it. How would the DreamCloud compare to the Sealy Cushion Firm? Would it yield more on top? Would the Euro-top of the DreamCloud sink in as much as a pillow-top? We like the feeling of laying on top of the bed, but would like a bit more pressure relief than is offered by the Sealy Cushion Firm. Are there any other mattresses we should be considering? Nest Alexander Hybrid? Brentwood Oceano? How do they compare/contrast with the DreamCloud? Thanks for all your help!

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  5 років тому +3

      Hi +Zipdaddy -- Thanks for your question (and kind words), and sorry I missed this earlier. Re: the euro-top on the DreamCloud, this is going to behave and feel almost exactly like a pillow-top -- the differences between pillow-tops and euro-tops tend to be more aesthetic than functional. That said, euro-tops (or pillow-tops) can be very different from one another in terms of things like softness and cushioning depth. The DreamCloud has less softness than most pillow-tops (many of which tend to be like the one you got years ago), and doesn't have nearly as deep a cushioning as some pillow-tops (though has more cushioning depth than a typical tight top). To get a sense for how much yield it has, I think the best thing is to simply watch how it responds under my body at different points in this video.
      In terms of pressure relief, I thought the pressure relief on the DreamCloud was very good and definitely found that on my side, my shoulders were able to get into the mattress more than you'd expect, esp relative to how it feels when you're on your back. You can hear a more detailed description of this in the video at 7:35.
      Re: the Sealy Response Premium Cushion Firm, I'm afraid we have not done an in-depth review of that particular model. Although we did do the overview you mentioned that covered the full Sealy line-up (ua-cam.com/video/M07oyWVxeeQ/v-deo.html), there are far too many models (many dozens) across that line to be able to speak about any specific one with equivalent confidence or detail as I can for the DreamCloud.
      I hope that's helpful.

    Did you find this mattress to be unusually noisy? I noticed during your review I could here the springs when you moved around or dropped the bowling ball. Is it that loud in person or was that more due to your mic?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 років тому +7

      Hi Roger -- Thanks for your question. I'm glad you asked this because the noise you were hearing was not actually coming from the mattress at all -- it was coming from the adjustable base below the mattress.
      The thing that can make mattress coils noisy is when metal rubs against metal. However, the coils in this mattress are individually pocketed coils, which means that there is a fabric pocket around each coil. This type of coil design prevents metal from one coil from touching metal from another coil -- ergo, no noise. So, any noise you hear when I bounce or move around on the mattress in the video is coming from the adjustable base we have underneath the mattress, which does have a lot of moving parts where metal can rub against metal.
      I hope that's helpful.

      Hi Karayah -- Thanks for your question, and sorry I missed this earlier. I can't speak to the reasons why they might call those layers memory foam, but in our view they were not materials that we would consider to be memory foam. As you have hopefully seen in all of our editorial content, you won't hear us regurgitating the language or marketing claims used by the manufacturer -- a practice that is sadly the norm in most mattress "reviews." Rather, our focus is on giving our readers the honest and objective truth, so we always try to describe materials and characteristics using as plain and simple language as we can.

      Whatever you do do not buy this mattress it is the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on and returning it for a refund will be virtually impossible as I am still fighting with them 3 months later

    Okay I'm a big girl and my fear is that this mattress will dip in the middle from wear and tear which is what I am experiencing now....what are your thoughts?

    So I just purchased a King Sealy Silver Chill Plush with adjustable base. It has not been delivered yet. I’m a big guy, 300 lbs with a dainty wife. We both sleep hot. The bed has not been delivered, I’m almost thinking of refunding this to get the dreamcloud King spit with adjustable base. Price is comparable, dream cloud is a bit cheaper. Am I ok with the Sealy or would I be better off with the dream cloud? Good review.

      Hi Ian, I could not give you an answer on that, not knowing more about your support needs and preferences. But I can say that a split-king situation is one that often works for partners with very different body sizes and sleep preferences. For example, a very firm mattress that feels supportive to a 250-lb stomach sleeper might feel way too hard for a 125-lb. side sleeper.

      @@goodbed My biggest concern is I hope the Sealy Silver Chill is a well-made product. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    How long did the smell last? Any recs for similar bed that had less gas?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  5 років тому +1

      Hi Jack -- Thanks for your question. IIRC, the smell dissipated pretty quickly (maybe a day or two). I don't remember it being anything I was noticing at all by the time we did our full review. In terms of the most similar beds that are likely to have less off-gassing, here are the two that come to mind:
      * Saatva: www.goodbed.com/mattresses/saatva/ (This mattress is shipped as-is, rather than being compressed and roll-packed into a small box. This helps ensure that most or all off-gassing occurs before it arrives.)
      * WinkBed: www.goodbed.com/mattresses/winkbeds/ (This mattress was previously shipped uncompressed, but recently changed to roll-pack shipping like most other online brands. Nonetheless, because it uses micro-coils in lieu of foam its principal comfort layer, it contains less total foam as a portion of the height of the mattress, so I would still expect less off-gassing from it.)
      I hope that's helpful.

    The softer side of medium firm? lol

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  4 роки тому +1

      HI Sean. LOL. 😊 Well, softness is all on a spectrum. We test so many mattresses that we can indeed get pretty specific about the sometimes subtle nuances between soft and firm. Generally when we say something like 'the softer side of Medium-Firm,' it's in recognition of the fact that there are a lot of mattresses that we might classify as "Medium-Firm," so we want to make it clear that this is a tad softer than most of those, but not quite soft enough that we would classify it as a straight-up "Medium."
      In other words, we're trying to give you the closest approximation we can in words! I hope that's helpful.

    Sounds super creaky...that would drive me nuts

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Anthony -- Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you mentioned this because the noise you were hearing was not actually coming from the mattress at all.

    Dream Cloud vs Nectar.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 років тому

      Hi +ghardt91 -- Thanks for your suggestion. Your interest in this comparison will definitely be noted as we consider what comparisons would be most useful to our readers. In the meantime, FWIW the Nectar and DreamCloud are actually pretty different mattresses. If you haven't already seen it, you can watch our review of the Nectar, which is organized in the exact same way as our review of the DreamCloud. You can find it here:

      Thank you yes I already saw that I know they are at opposite ends of the spectrum but thought it would be an interesting comparison because the are both from China and they have the same type of warranty and sleep trial.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 років тому

      Yep, you have pretty much nailed it right there! Those are probably the biggest things they have in common, while in many other respects they tend to be more different than they are similar.

    • @ghardt91
      @ghardt91 6 років тому

      True I am interested in the nectar for it's cooling aspect I live in Arizona and I don't have the luxury of running the ac and I sleep hot too. I have been looking at the Leesa and the cocoon chill too.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 років тому

      Of those options, I would think that they would actually be fairly similar in this regard, but would expect that the DreamCloud would likely be the coolest for you. Even though it doesn't have much in the way of cooling "features" per se, it has the least memory foam (a denser, deeper cushioning foam) and its surface is the least closely conforming (both on the count of its medium-firm comfort level and the undulations from its tufting). I hope that's helpful.

    Can you not wear shoes in the bedroom especially on a mattress? There’s no reason whatsoever to wear shoes indoors. It’s not the wild Wild West!

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  6 років тому +1

      Hi Roma -- Thanks for the feedback! I accept complete blame for that one, as I'm afraid I have a bit of a hangup about feet in general. Perhaps it all stems from a vaguely horrifying childhood experience in an odorific ball pit at Great America...but to this day, I can barely make it through the airport security process without dry-heaving... ;)
      In any case, it's for the sake of others like me that I make a point of keeping my shoes on as much as possible (when on camera). Of course, from that anecdote, you may not be surprised to hear that I'm also pretty fastidious, so I do make a very conscious point of not letting the soles of my shoes touch the mattress!

      Yeah, I totally get that -- if I weren't making a video, I would never wear shoes on a bed either. 😊
