    For this comparison, we’ll be taking a look at Saatva and DreamCloud, two of the most popular brands on the market. Known for its traditional innerspring design, Saatva first leapt onto the scene in 2011, and has been shaking things up ever since. DreamCloud, on the other hand, didn’t make its debut until seven years later, when it challenged the former with its promise of providing a luxury feel at a value price.
    Both of these mattresses feature foam and coil layers to strike a balance between comfort and support, but each mattress uses them differently. So which one uses them better? There’s only one way to find out…

    I have the Saatva luxury firm and its says 14.5 inches but is really 16 inches. One of the best I have ever had! I've had temper-pedics to sleep number and the Saatva is amazing! At least to me!

    So, you'd recommend the Saatva moreso for side sleepers than the DreamCloud? Doesn't the extra foam layers on the DreamCloud help with pressure points? Also - newbie question - do any of these mattresses "settle" into a softer feel over time, meaning something more firm will feel a bit softer as it's used? Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi, i am looking to upgrade my mattress after 20 years (I know, it’s about time ha) I am a 115 pound female and my husband weighs 225. I’ve only ever slept on a traditional spring mattress but was thinking of trying out one of these infamous memory foam or potentially hybrid mattresses. I’ve researched a bit and come across dreamcloud, saatva, loom&leaf, zenhaven, and tuft& needle as the most popular. The most important thing I am looking for in a mattress is motion isolation. My husband moves around a bit and wakes up before me (I wake up every time he does since the entire mattress moves with him). So looking to have that fixed. With that said, I know memory foam is best for motion isolation however I’m a little hesitant because I do not like getting hot during the night I also don’t want to feel like I’m in my mattress but rather on top of it. I’m a side sleeper, don’t move too much. I thought I liked firm but from my research it sounds like I should get medium/soft since I sleep on my side. Top recommendations ?? Also don’t really want to spend over 2,000$ :) (king size)

      @Sleepopolis  5 років тому

      18 years with a mattress is a very long time, sounds like the support might have worn down a bit. I like both the Saatva and the DreamCloud for a nice mix of support and pressure relief. Probably the DreamCloud for more of a pillow top feel while the Saatva has a bit more bounce.

      Those are three great options and really tough to differentiate. I think the Saatva's coil on coil structure is probably more in line with what you're looking for since you said you don't like sinking into bed. The WinkBed would be the choice if you're looking for a bed in a box.

      You're going to want to find something with really strong support. I would say the Saatva would be the better option out of these two. They've also recently come out with the Saatva HD which is built with heavier folks in mind. Some other mattresses in that space include WinkBed Plus and the Big Fig.

I watched enough reviews to know that we need standard coil mattress as more foam equals more sinking. I went with Saatva recently but haven’t received it yet. Did you choose a mattress?

    I have been watching Sleepopolis for the past 4 months reviewing every mattress over and over again. I first purchased a Nectar which took all my pain away. but it slept hot, and I could not move around easily, so I donated it to the homeless shelter where I live per: Nectar sleep. It was kind of a hassle trying to return it. It is not a easy return. I continued searching on Sleepopolis and finally decided on a wink bed, but I went with the Firmer one which was a mistake. I have a bad lower back, Sciatica and pain in my shoulder from bursitis. I start getting pain mid way through my sleep and it continues until I get out of bed. I guess I should have went with the Luxury firm or their all foam mattress. I am returning this one, unfortunately. Logan, any suggestions for me? I am 5'11" weighing 320lbs. I already know that a firm mattress is not for me. I was thinking about the Ghost bed Luxe or the Wink bed all foam. I did like the Nectar, but it slept hot. What would you recommend? I am also a combo sleeper. Thank you. I will continue watching your reviews. Thank you Logan for all your reviews, they are all very informative, Thanks again.

      We are trying to return our Nectar right now and it is a hassle. My wife and I have been trying to find the right mattress for about 9 months now and the last mattress we returned was a sleep number and it was painless. We literally called them up and said we wanted to return the mattress and that was that. I've had to email pictures and email back and forth repeatedly with Nectar and we still don't have the official ok to return / donate the mattress.

    Hi Logan,
    I am 5'6" and my husband is 6'5" and we are considering both of these mattresses for our new mattress. I have a chronic low back injury (L2-3 through L5-S1) and am primarily a side sleeper (75% of the time) and a back sleeper the remainder of the time. My husband is a combo side/back sleeper with chronic neck pain (C-4 through C-6 with a C5 disc replacement) as well as sleep apnea (he does have a CPAP). Also, with the DreamCloud, is there any off-gassing and if so, how long does it last? Is there any other information you could provide? Your feedback is appreciated and thank you for your reviews. Have a good evening!

    • @Sleepopolis
      @Sleepopolis  5 років тому +1

      Really close call but I'd go with the DreamCloud. Both have solid support which is nice for back pain but the pillowtop on the DreamCloud is a bit better for your side sleeping. I didn't notice any offgassing with my DreamCloud, but if you are sensitive to the smell I would recommend opening the windows when you open it up, that smell will wear off pretty quickly.

      You're right, I think both are pretty good options for you but I think the Dreamcloud might be just a bit more up your alley if we're splitting hairs. That's mostly based on the soft foams in the pillowtop.

    We bought a Purple recently and I REALLY wanted to like it since it seemed like the best option. I don't like it though. I wake up feeling sore and achy. I weigh about 110 pounds and I wonder if maybe I'm just too light for the purple? Anyway, now I really don't know which mattress to get. I'm looking at the dream cloud and nectar right now, but don't know if they will be any different? I'm usually a combo sleeper and I'm married so it needs to be something good for couples as well. What would you suggest?

    • @Sleepopolis
      @Sleepopolis  5 років тому

      It's always nice to hear what people have tried before. The Purple is a unique feel and definitely not for everyone. With regards to the DreamCloud and Nectar, they are both really popular mattresses with really different feels to them. The Nectar is a classic memory foam feel, sinking deep into the layers for pressure relief and a slow response to pressure so you may get a bit of a stuck feeling as you change positions. The DreamCloud has more of a classic pillowtop feel to it. Softer foam layers on top supported by a tall layer of pocketed coils. DreamCloud has a bit more bounce and mobility to it, so you'll feel more on top of it than in the mattress.

    Hi Logan!
    So I need some help deciding between a few mattresses. I'm 5'1" approximately 155 lbs, side and occasionally a stomach sleeper. I think I've decided on a hybrid mattress because 1. I've never had a memory foam and 2. I'm not sure about the feelings of being "stuck". I think I want a bed in a box preferably around $800-$1,000. Looking for a full specifically.
    I'm leaning towards the Helix and the Dreamcloud (a little pricier but likely worth it) but am worrying that the 15" height on the Dreamcloud will be too thick for standard sheets. Also, I've heard the Dreamcloud is "firm" but then also similar to hotel beds? So it's plush on top but it doesn't sink like foam beds? I'm confused. I like the idea of the foam/gel because this is likely to provide more soft plushy comfort but is also supportive.. I've seen some that use copper-infused material which I'm trying to avoid because of the unknown possible health effects. Do you have any other insight or recommendations for other brands? I'm open to any suggestions you might have!
    Thank you!

    • @Sleepopolis
      @Sleepopolis  5 років тому

      I really like both Helix and DreamCloud so really depends on how specific you want to get. The DreamCloud probably has the firmer support and 15" is deep but I think most sheets should be able to handle it. You can used the code SLEEPOPOLIS200 to save $200 on your purchase to get the price down a bit. The Helix has a much wider spectrum of models and a quiz on their site that can help to pinpoint the perfect feel for you. Their standard line is 10" in height, so sheets shouldnt be a problem.
