Man, this board game is violent!

Three years have past since this explanation, and it is still the more accessible one out there. Thanks! Really great explanation of the game.
Glad to help :)
Super well done! This was the easiest explanation of the game to follow I could find. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much. I’m glad I could help. And thank you for the subscribe. We really appreciate the support :)
Definitely the best explanation online but 40 minutes is a lot to ask people to watch who haven’t played before. I would love a 20-30 minute summary version if at all possible. In particular, anything related to setup is unnecessary as guests don’t have to worry about that.
I haven’t watched the video in a while myself but I believe we have links in the description that allow you to jump directly to the section you’re looking for... if that helps.
Definitely one of the best "How to" videos out there.
Why thank you ;)
Amazing guide, the best I've seen so far in UA-cam!. Now I can read the rules lol.
Glad we could help ;)
Honestly one of the best tutorial videos I've come across, period. Keep them coming sir!
Working on another how to play as we speak :) They take some time to put together but they will come :)
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Decided to get the Demo copy of this game for my local game store that I co-own with friends because this video showed the gameplay and rules so well. Kudos.
Andrew Burns Excellent! Always happy to encourage more gaming and glad you liked the video. :)
Hey man. Thanks for the very clear and detailed explanation. I hope you get more subscribers and for sure you will. Good luck mate!
Thank you. That means a lot :)
Great summary and walkthrough, by far the best I've seen for Rising Sun.
Please do either Prodos' AVP or Monolith's Conan!
JavlinVII Thx... currently working on a Heavy Hitters walk through, but I’ll add those to the production pipeline :)
This review helped me a lot 👏 keep it going man ~
Glad I could be of help :)
I subscribed as this is one of the best board game explanations I ever listen. Great job. At minutes 28:14, do you gain full honor? Not just one level up? Thanks
Best Rising Sun tutorial ever.
I mean for real!
Thank you for all of your efforts.
And EPIC voice btw.
You should make funny board game trailers, like Honest Trailer.
It would be legendary =D
Attila Dukai Hey Thx :) And not a bad idea. We might actually try that in the new year :) And glad the video helped
@@BoardGameCoffee "Enter to the world of ancien feudal Japan. You can hire and order epic monsters like blue cockeyed monster, red cockeyed monster, yellow cockeyed monster and the legendary awesome Godzilla with tentacle beard... exept you don't... because it's only for the kickstarter exclusive owners..."
;)
Attila Dukai Oh were they? There’s so much time between ordering a Kickstarter and receiving it, it’s easy to forget what the exclusives were
Kudos to you for explaining this game clearly. I finally understand small details and your tutorial answers my questions. Keep it up.

Adit Maryadi Awesome thank you :)
You have a new suscriber. Video very clear. One of the best I watch to learn the complex rule of Rising Sun. Bravo from France
Thank you so very much. Glad the video helped :)
One mistake and one thing I missed.
You mention monsters are onis. It's not true, some monsters are indeed onis, oni is a sub-type of monsters. It's only important if something affects onis, then a dragon is not affected but oni of souls is.
What i missed was that it's allowed and encouraged to bribe each other. It's absolutely legal to offer and give away coins or ronin tokens during the political phase in exchange of future actions like forming alliances or agreeing to go out from a given province or picking a given mandate. The agreements are not binding though. Agreements are okay in the war phase as well, but only without coin or ronin exchange.
great vdeo!
Keep up the good work, absolutely love rising sun.
Thank you :) Hoping to get more how to play videos recorded in the new year :)
Just got this, thank you for the video :)
Just saw this, you're welcome :)
Thanks for the rules walkthrough!
Your welcome hope it helped :)
Best tutorial in the history of tutorials!
Glad I could help. Enjoy the game, it’s still one of my faves :)
This is the best explanation on Rising Sun that I've watched! Very structured and well explained, keep up the good work! Only 1 feedback, the volume is really soft.
Yeah, that was back in our early days. Hopefully we’ve improved since :) And Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the video
It's 2021 and this video is still great.
Thanks Billy. I use it myself actually lol.
Dang it I should have bought this game yesterday at the COn when I had a chance! Now I will have to hunt for it.
TheCelticGoldsmith Bellchamber you can always get it from GeekStop (I think they would have it in stock)
You're AWESUM!!!
Awww, gee... thanks :)
Very well done video
Thank you very much. I hope it helped
Dude, timecoding for all the rules in the description? You are the man!
Glad I could help ;)
@@BoardGameCoffee For sure man! I watched the whole video and feel like I have a solid grasp of the rules. Can't wait to play Rising Sun.
GloriusScenes great game. You won’t be disappointed. Did you get it for Christmas?
amazing tutorial
Glad you liked it and I hope you enjoy playing :)
Like it. Nice.
Thx. Hope it helped:)
Soooooo looking forward to finally playing this Thursday!!! 🎎🇯🇵👹
This is a late response but… Did you play it?
@@BoardGameCoffee yeah, we did. Its really fun!
We’ve played it again recently and I still love that game
Love the video! Some constructive criticism for the channel would be to buy a nice lapel mic to help the sound quality.
Loyd776 Since this video we’ve improved a few things. At the moment we’re trying out a shotgun mic although our space is new and still fairly empty so echo is still a bit of an issue. Glad you liked the video, and I hope you like the changes we make to the channels as we continue to improve :)
Thanks more useful than I thought!☺😀
We are happy to hear that it was helpful!
Look at baby Mark!
Lol. Before the stress of board game media aged me 10 years
Your presentation is great and articulated. You give straightforward instructions that are clear. I gave your video a thumbs up, my only feedback is the constant black dissolve kind of hurt my eyes after a while. You might want to change that up a bit? Overall thank you for your excellent work.
We've changes the way we do things since this video, but thanks for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind in future edits :)
Hi Mark! Thank you for this awesome tutorial!! I will play Rising Sun for the first time next weekend an i have a question. During the seasonal clennup, i have to take all figures back to my reserve and then start the seasonal setup with one stronghold, a daimyo and bushi? Or my army remains as i ended the previous season?
Helder Machado Sorry that I just saw this. My notifications are not reliable apparently. To be honest, I haven’t played Rising Sun in a long while now and don’t really remember any of it. I knew it like the back of my hand at some point, but now I have to watch my own video haha
This is objectively good.
Octavian BGG Interesting... how so?
Sorry I edited it! My English is not perfect.. I do think you’re very handsome though!
Octavian BGG awww thanks ;) 🥰
Are you married?
I will be in May :) So not yet
Great job on your video!
Man, I wish they’d make a two-player version of this for wifey and I to play :/
I feel like it’s pretty uncommon these days to make 3 player games, as most games even have solo offerings available :)
Cheers
Thanks :) I know what you mean. Luckily for us we have quite a versatile gaming group so we’re rarely short on players if we need them. I actually use this video myself when we play this LOL. I was thinking of redoing it with an updated flare but I’m not sure when I’d ever have the time to do that. But it would be nice to get this video polished to match our newer how to play videos.
@@BoardGameCoffee absolutely! Hey… maybe you can redo when they do a second edition of the game ;) (hopefully including a 2 player mode lol)
Cheers!
P.s. don’t worry about the quality at all. It’s still a fantastic resource!!!
Thanks tattoo guy :)
Nice video. But I have a doubt about the political actions. In the video explains that the player who selected the action goes last performing the action (Train action is an exception). But reading the rulebook I can't find where is this specific rule. In fact it says exactly the opposite. Here what the rulebook says (taken out form page 13 of the Rulebook):
-The chosen Political Mandate is performed by all players, STARTING with the player
who selected it and proceeding to the left.
It’s been a few years now since I recorded this video. All I remember is something about how some mandates… the person selecting, performed it last, and for others they performed it first. But I think only one of them broke the rule… As in, only one of them you went first, or you went last… I can’t remember which was the most common.
Do you have the starting honor backwards? Doesn't a lower starting honour mean they start nearer the bottom of the honour track? Players with the lowest honour to first.
The Hobby Humanist Hey there :) It’s been a year since I made the video so it hard for me to recall. Can you tell me where in the video I said that and I’ll be more then happy to clear things up :)
The Hobby Humanist Hello! Sorry. I had just woken up when I saw your message and forgot that I index my own videos :) Anyway. The clan with the lowest number goes first. Think of it this way. Don’t think of the number 1 as a low value, think of it as the best in a race. The Koi clan screen says they have an honour of 1. Meaning they are in first place in regards to order. The next clan would have an honour of 2 because they came in second place. So the clan with the highest number came in last in the clan race so they go to the bottom
Could not help but kept staring at the DAIMYO box… plan on selling your copy? 😊
Nope. This is one’s a keeper :)
Man, this is a heavy game..
Doesn’t feel that heavy once you’ve played it. But the rules do sound very intimidating
If a player does not have alliance, does he still loss honor after he or she played betray??
If you were not in an alliance when the betray was played, you do not lose honor :) So do as you must ;)
BoardGame Coffee oh thanks😃
Anytime :)
Do you give back hostages every season.
I haven’t played in over a year but as far as I remember yes.
that daimyo box in the back makes me want to die!
albert brodeur R.I.P
f I commit sepuku, my enemy can not take me as a hostage, but I can still take him as a hostage if I´m already dead?
Martín Coelho That is correct :)
Thank you! I really appreciate it, I was playing it wrong, based on what was more logical. even so, is weird that you cant be taken as a hostage because you are dead, but still, you can take hostages, even if you are dead.
