Ole Miss DL is criminally underrated. You have Walter Nolen, who demands a double team, Princley Umanmielen, who demands a double team, Jared Ivey, who demands a double team, and JJ Pegues, who demands a double team.
Honestly, I cant see Mississippi being a team beyond the second round of the playoff. They are a really good team, but under Lane Kiffin, they've never been able to beat the top dogs. No wins over Bama, or Georgia. Yeah they beat LSU last year, but that game was a back and forth shootout, and LSU had a terrible defense. I need to see it to believe it.
The defense needs to take massive strides, If they want to compete with Bama and Georgia, this is the 1st offseason where Lane Kiffin really prioritized bringing in big pieces on defense, nobody thinks a team can win until they finally do, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ole Miss was one of those teams. Even if they can be competitive with Georgia this year and make the playoffs that would cement them as one of the top sec programs because I really do think Ole Miss is close to breaking through. The defense just needs to improve, but 2024 has the potential to be huge for Ole Miss, even making the semi finals would be impressive in my eyes, but can they make it far in the playoffs? I honestly don't know.
Honestly that Georgia game is huge for them. If Ole Miss can at least put up a fight, they will be taken seriously, and for years to come. They're definitely using the portal very well, and they recruit at a good level.
