Today we visit the stunning fairy Pools of Fairy Glen on the wonderful Isle of Skye.
If you are looking for a mini hike that will offer a fantastic view of the rugged natural beauty of Skye then this is definitely in the top 10 of places to visit.
There is a huge car park (you do have to pay) and a well defined path all the way up alongside the river offering amazing views of the Fairy Pools and the waterfalls along the way.
This walk can be as short or as long as you wish to hike but it is well worth going right up the glen to rally soak in the natural beauty that Skye has to offer.
If you are touring Skye and want a mini adventure this really does make for a great trip on a day out and 100% is in the top 10 places to visit and things to do on Skye.
Butteries!!! They used to sell them in the school canteen at Mackie Academy in Stonehaven - no wonder I was a chubby kid!!
Ayeee! Correct! 🙂
I went to Mackie too by the way. I grew up in Stoney. 🙂🐾👍
That's a buttery and they are magic.
Correct on both counts! 🐾👍
Been ploughing through your videos for a few weeks now.
Much appreciation for your work.
@@davidstefanovic8610 thank you David! 🐾👍
“As if he was on the moon!” 😂😂😂😂. Brilliant mate.
Haha, that's totally what it was like! 😂🐾👍
Hounds of Howgate Pmsl. Watching your waterfall video now. Comatose in Austria. 😂. Total noob but so glad I found your channel mate. Superb info.
@@DerekChristiePhotos thanks! 🐾👍
I loved the moon/astronaut bit ;D lol
Haha! 😂🐾👍
Butteries are brilliant toasted with loads o butter on them, you've got me in the mood for one now,no one's not enough,at least two.
Oft, I could fair go some mahsel the noo actually! Gonna head up the shops! 😋🐾👍
Love your commentary and information! Keep it going.
Thanks Peter! 🙂🐾👍
I was there about 15 years ago and you had to search to find The Fairy Pools now from viewing your blog there are signs and structured paths and God knows what else soon you’ll have to wear PPE equipment and require a pass, sad times from a previously splendid location I’ve got some amazing photographs.
Oh yeah for sure. The is now a MASSIVE car park there, signs everywhere and loads of people all the time. Defo changed times from you were there. 🏴
Mmmmm buttery/rowie… awesome smothered in butter!
Aye, only on the flat side but! Apparently you go straight to the firey place if you butter or jam the lumpy side! 😉🐾👍
@@HoundsofHowgate exactly! My mum was from the North East and used to say that. Spent five years living there myself... I blame rowies for my expanding waistline up there, much slimmer in glasgowland away from them.
@@pete7872 aye, that's the thing: there actually isn't any butter in them! Saturated fat and salt: whever invented them was on to something for sure! 👍
mmmmmmmmButteries even better when you add more butter to them. Aberdonians call them soothing else. Cracking video John as always good to see you and Moss out and about again. Keep up the good work -- love your videos
Rowies. 🙂
Thanks man! 🐾👍
Stoaters if I recall
Rowie:-)
Where in the north east did you grow up. Depending where, it could be a buttery or a rowie. I'd always call it a buttery mind you.
South of Aberdeen. We always called it a buttery but I think folk in Aberdeen would call it a Rowie. 🐾👍
@@HoundsofHowgate I grew up west of the city, near Banchory. Just outside Edinburgh these days. Cracking vids min.
@@McFluff1984 Aye, it was Stonehaven I grew up.
Cheers bud! 🐾👍
Ah butterie tidy
Fantastic things!
My local Morrisons used to get me 4 every Sunday
But they no longer do them
Gutted
@@Johnnyexploresscotland they used to be hard to find even down in Glasgow until not that long ago. I actually clocked today that Morrisons up at Glasgow Fort and now selling them in packs of 4. Tesco, in some places do a few loose and Co-OP's aboot do them loose sometimes too.
Ah I'm in livi I will fire oot there and see if I can get some this weekend
My Morrisons said I was the only person who bought them
I would love to know how my name appears as u owe lol
I've no idea how that happened
Haha. You crack me up! I’m considering to wild camp around the fairy pools this winter..will I be able to find a good spot to pitch a single tent..? Thanking you! Mari
Haha, thanks! 🙂🐾👍
Oh aye, there are plenty of places to camp. It's pretty flat around there. You should be able to find a spot nae bother!
5 mins, made me laugh out loud 5 times! Just spent 2 days tramping round the Edinburgh Fridge ‘comedy’ joints. They are crap compared to your banter John. Keep it flowing fella! 😆😆
Haha, cheers Justin! 🙂🐾👍
Chuckled at the ‘WTF’ flip flops, LOL at the motorbike guy, nearly spat me beer out at the astronaut 👩🚀 , asking Moss when you last showered, watch UA-cam stuff...”folk hiking”..... ahhh, I’m with you all the way! 😂
Sorry about the garbage on my last comment John, didn’t mean that. Friday night Guinness..... Have edited it.
@@JustinWhiting9 I hadn't seen the unedited comment so I wouldn't worry about it. Especially as I'm prone to carrying out booze fuelled message rampages myself. Usually involving lassies, right enough, or telling my Norwegian best friend that I love him like my brother (I don't have a brother), haha! 😂🍻👍 It's usually is positive over the top well meaning stuff though. I'm not really one for criticism or anything negative: unless it's a particular bad night and it's to the ex givin' it, 'you never really loved me, did you?! 😪'. Hahaha! That's not good stuff. 🤐 Although having a dark sense of humour at times makes me think it is funny in a way after the initial embarrassment! Like what a nightmare I can be.
I assume you have heard of 'The Fear'? Like the fear you feel the morning after a booze sesh when you can't quite remember what you were doing or saying and feel riddled with anxiety about it. Often it then involves a frantic search through your social media accounts for evidence or calls to friends to see if the fear is justified. Sometimes you are like, 'phew', or other times you are like, 'Oh naw, ohhh NAW!' Hahaha!
It wasn't negative, but I thought better of it the next day. Never heard of 'the fear', interesting, must be triggered from personal conscience I guess. Our normal social filters fall away under the influence, then come back strong afterwards. The sense of anxiety and guilt you mentioned, even though you don't know why. I guess it's because we don't trust ourselves. Still, if the alternative is no beer, then I'd rather take the risk.... and try my best to behave myself!
theyre called butteries in tescos I think
Exactly! And 'Rowies' in Aberdeen itself. 🐾👍
Beef dripping! The best way to make chips, deep fried breadcrumbed chicken, fish in batter, IMHO.... Probably quite healthy compared to that oil stuff.
SO tasty! 🐾👍
Could be a Tatie Scone ,had one the other day?
Close bud! ...🐾👍
It's a Rowie aka Buttery. Flour, saturated fat and salt: literally a gift from the big man himself!💥🙌
Looks like lembas... The elvish bread from lord of the rings... Did I get it right? ;-)
Yes! 🙌💥👍
It's a Rowie aka Buttery. Flour, saturated fat and salt: literally a gift from the big man himself!
Rowie?
Exactly! Or Buttery outside Aberdeen. 🐾👍
Pizza crunch ?
Haha, nope. They are called 'Rowies' in Aberdeen but more commonly known as 'Butteries', although they contain flour, saturated fat and salt: no butter!
@@HoundsofHowgate I've never camped on the Isle of Skye. It's a long way to go to pitch a tent from Newcastle. Maybe one day.cheers
@@cumbriancamper have you seen my Skye Trail series? It's a great trail! 1 day kinda rubbishy road walking for half of it but otherwise the rest of it is pretty amazing!
@@HoundsofHowgate ive watched all ya vids m8. 👍
