This Week’s Watch is the Everose gold Rolex Yacht-Master 40
A largely forgotten model, the Yacht-Master was rejuvenated with a younger-aimed rose gold, rubber strap version in 2015. It’s comfortable, stylish, and looks like no other Rolex (at least until the Daytona came with an Oysterflex strap). Why on earth does Damian own one of these? Let’s find out…

This is the least blingy Yachmaster in the whole line, to me. I mean, it’s got a black dial, black bezel, and black strap with a toned down rose gold case. Thanks for the content!
This is one of Rolex’s best watches. Very underrated.
If 30k is underrated
It's not 30 it's 22
@@niwa957 lmao go buy a rolex and then we will talk, until you can pay 30k for that shut ur mouth
@@rajmehta6210 now it is def 30 🤣
My first gold Rolex, bought it right after it was released and I still love it!
I like the yacht master 40 with the sleight grey dial with the blue text the best out of the whole range.
I love this watch, got mine from my AD early 2019 at an awesome discount, because it had been sitting in the case for almost all of 2018.
Good review! I love my rose gold YM 40. I bought it in 2015-16 when it first came out - at a discount. LOL. I felt the same about the YM line, especially the YM2. I went into the AD looking for something else, and this new (at that time) YM really grabbed me. I tried it on and bought it immediately. The rubber strap is brilliant, and now extended to the Daytona, it fits that watch much better than the alligator straps in earlier iterations. The matt black dial and bezel work really nicely with the polished rose gold.
The appeal of this watch has grown on me and that flex strap looks very comfortable.
Very nice review... well spoken. Yesterday I purchased a new 126655 YM with the 3235 calibre( 70 hrs PR), and the glidelock bracelet. Fantastic piece. It is a leader among all my Pateks, AP, Vacheron, etc for its versatlity and zip.
As a New Yorker, it is faaaaaaabulous!! Had to pay list price $27,000, but I think it will hold value.
Who says Rolex is conservative. The design and materials of this watch are breath taking.
Very nice!
Great video! I picked up a perfect condition 116655 recently for ~30k USD. I was waiting on the 126655 at my local AD (in NYC) but they haven't seen any in over 12 months. Either way once I got the strap adjusted the watch fits perfectly and I love it.
Stunning watch and a great review as always! It would be great to see a review of the SS Rhodium YM 40 in the near future (they have recently updated the movement to 70hr) One of my current favourites from the current line up and a future classic for sure, just don’t see any of them on the wrist. Cheers
I am pleased to hear that this model is not that hard to get. What a stunning timepiece!
Love it , I own the Rhodium dial 40 and it's a truly lovely piece ... Considered curves , elegant with just enough pop ... Wears beautifully on the wrist ... But I was led to it by the one you have here on the oyster flex strap .. Tried it on and it felt so good ... It really surprised me so off I went to try and eventually get mine...I totally understand why you love it . I hope the new generation YM get the praise and appreciation they deserve ... If you haven't tried one , get it on the wrist ...you will feel the difference.
I also own this watch, and love it!…I believe it’s under-appreciated right now, but once they discontinue it, it’ll be collectible and highly sought after. The first ever “rubber” factory Rolex, it has future collector written all over it.
You may be right
I've been binge watching this channel and this is my favorite piece in your collection.....Elegant, Masculine, and classy. Definitely hold on to this one
Fantastic, thanks
That's a stunning piece. Love it.
Interesting to hear your buying experience. It gives me hope for all of the models that are currently un-obtainable, one day they may be easier to get.
Wonderful reference.
I've got a 2002 16622 (40mm, "silver" platinum dial and red second hand), which is also a beautiful watch. Really perfect on the wrist
Lovely
I recently bought the new oystersteel / rose gold YM 40 with the chocolate dial and I absolutely LOVE it! It is the best looking YM ever produced in my opinion. So underrated. But I've got a big problem... I also love this one with the oysterflex bracelet and I love the rhodium too. So I'm having a hard time to complete my YM collection : oystersteel / rose gold + rhodium ? Or oystersteel / rose gold + oysterflex / rose gold ?
Loooove that watch, love how it looks. One of the coolest watches ever.
Thank you very much very nice time piece, it is underrated and not too much bling. I also like the YM40 Blue Dial. Looking forward to more videos.
I love this watch. It’s close to being my daily on my wrist. The Matt and gloss bezel looks great under natural light. Super underrated and I feel great wearing it.
Totally agree!
Stopped by my AD a few days ago and they had one in stock. Beautiful watch and fit me perfectly. Thinking about it......
One of the best looking watches imho. The 40mm will become a classic. I was lucky to buy one at Heathrow Airport in 2019 when waiting for boarding my flight.
Good to know I'm not alone. I love both the blue and rhodium steel versions too! I have both they are keepers
Absolutely
Stunning watch . I nearly bought the 42 white gold at the start of the year but I declined hoping that they would bring out a rose gold 42 this year but this year has kind o went tits up so hopefully next year Rolex will do it 👍
OMG that's a really beautiful time piece for a rolex yacht master in your collection damian 👍
I find this one very restrained, especially for a Rolex. Love it!
Another excellent episode, not seen that Rolex before. Hope you can do one on Chaykin watches?
Thanks for sharing your taste and style great 👍
its pure class. stunning watch and amazing rubber band, the best rubber band you can buy. they've put the glidelock on the latest one I think
Stunning looking piece Damien, another great video..
Many thanks!
I quite agree, it’s a beautiful watch.
I do like this 40 mm. I did find the rose gold, just a bit to bright for my liking so I bought the 42mm white gold which is more low key. It goes a bit more under the radar. The 42mm is bigger, the dial is bigger and it is heavy. I like the rubber bracelet as it is so comfortable but it is also not going to get scratched up. It also tones down the overall affect of it being precious metal. Very happy with my 42mm yacht-master white gold.
Sounds like the right choice, Noel - congrats
Beautiful review. I'm a big fan of the Yachtmaster, specially with the rhodium dial. So understated and yet 😍
It really is!
I say I’m not a Rolex fanboy but I do like that one (and a couple of others)...Shhh don’t tell anyone. I walked past a jewellers in Wetherby (York’s) and saw one in the window plus some other high end pre-owned watches. I was just making enquires as to there website so I could look at my leisure when the assistant took it out of the window to show me (I never asked), it was priced at over 18k so I did not try it on but you are correct in the flesh it’s really nice. Still think it’s a little confused a blinged up tool watch is a bit like giving a Landrover defender a gold wrap BUT it sure is nice. 😍
Yah another week and another watch video! Awesome
Glad you like them!
Well presented. Great commentary and views. You are a natural. Inspiring.
Thanks, Alex - much appreciated
It is easily one of the best looking rolex watches
Hi Damian, thanks for another great video! Question... what size wrist do you have? Trying to get a comparison to my wrist for the great watches you have. Thanks.
20cm
I just purchased a 116655 and have it for two weeks and absolutely loved it! I purchased a pre-owned and keep in mind its February 2023. My watch is a 2018 manufacturing date excellent condition with box paper warranty card. Paid $26,850 U.S. from what I could see I got a fairly good deal!
Nice review. I have the YM40 Dark Rhodium dial and really love the look and feel. I would consider adding the updated version of your watch (126655) which comes with the glide lock clasp.
Good call!
Stunning watch👍
Nice watch and a different look for Rolex. You do see them in AD windows due to the relatively high asking price. I’ve taken a good look in an AD and that strap is amazingly soft and pliable on wrist. Apparently the platinum bezel versions are extremely easy to mark and getting them put back pristine is very expensive. Nearly pulled the trigger on the grey and blue dial but all that gloss and shine put me off as I don’t like to baby my watches. Do you get your watches serviced? I’d imagine if a bunch of them come up for service together it’s going to be eye watering! Nice problems to have I guess.
Certainly a beauty to behold for sure, the matte bezel contrast against the rose gold is just stunning. I live in Bournemouth and often browse through the window at Charles Fox however I've heard mixed reviews and curious to know why you won't use them again?
Zero engagement, zero communication, zero client respect. Can’t work with people like that. And rude when I went in.
Fantastic watch 😎👍
I wondered why the Rolex Yacht-Master is undervalued. The clock is stunning.
Captins hat and a small dingy , top class
Just bought one and on its way. I was surprised to see it wasn’t marked up astronomically like all other models.
Yes, it's still just above list, which is a nice surprise for a Rolex
I live in the states and will be purchasing one of these probably in late February. What should I expect to pay for a quality used unit with original box and paperwork? I've seen anything between $26,500 - $29,000 U.S.
Refreshingly honest - love it :)
Thanks, Jason
This watch is stunning . The RG blings in the light and the contrast against the black is amazing. Would you wear it with a suit ?
I’d love one in my dreams
Love this watch and it’s white gold big brother
Great 👍. Congratulations 🎉🎊🎈🍾
Thank you! 😃
Im getting this one but with the diamond dial. I found an authorized dealer that put a custom order in for me
I have a lot of affection for the Yacht-Master range as my first Rolex was the YM 40 with the sunburst blue dial - I’ve had that for a few years now and it makes for a great summer watch thanks to the sunburst blue dial and the bezel. I find it can straddle casual and formal a bit more effectively than a Submariner, and I’m glad Rolex has a line that seems to provide them with more freedom to experiment, without offending the tastes of people who expect a Submariner or GMT to look a certain way. I do think the Yacht-Master 2 is a step too far though.
I like that, looks non-bling with the rubber strap. I can imagine the cost to replace the strap 😱
how did you decide between the 37 vs 40mm and the correct oyster strap sizing?
37mm is way too small for my wrist.
Really really nice watch, strap is great and its the perfect shade of rose gold. Excellent video 👍
Thanks for watching!
Love it my friends got a 42 mil white gold coming next month
The 3 yacht master models are my personal choices as well. I relate to your taste.
Love it
I love my YM2 in yellow gold. I wear it when I race my yacht
You should defo buy the blue face stainless steel. Looks like a £15k watch on the wrist. As for the Oyster Flex - Give me the 42mm version.
Another awesome video! I just put a deposit on the YM 40mm 126622 blue dial. It’s going to take about 2 months to get here. What are your thoughts on that watch?
Big fan of that one - the deep blue with the red hand is epic
In terms of the clasp, does it have a few mm adjustment like my submariner?
Chaikin is in a world of his own, I looove his Minion watch
I happen to love it. Enjoy it.
Good to hear!
Another great video. Dare we ask why you won’t use Charles Fox again??
Zero engagement, zero communication, zero client respect. Can’t work with people like that. And rude when I went in.
will definitley go up
Is the strap adjustable?
I’m not a big fan of the new sport Rolex’s, they are too chunky for my taste, and the engraved interior ring makes for me smaller the dial. Maybe I’m a nostalgic type of man the last “sport” Rolex I bought was a 16520 that was unsold in a Rolex AD in Portugal in 2011. My wife got a 268655 and she is quite happy because is a comfortable watch with the shine, although she steal quite often my Omega 2531.80 with the aqua terra blue rubber strap. You have an amazing collection sir, quite a gem and with such a cool owner.
As a rapper who owns this in White gold - this isn’t blingy at all! I wear this when I am being low-key!
Hah, I was expecting you to own the newer 42mm white gold version for some reason.
Great watch. I’d go SS with blue dial. But of course that’s impossible.
The Yacht-Master is my favourite Rolex model, especially the platinum, rhodium and blue dial ones. I own the platinum 116622, my first Rolex so extra special to me. Couldn't get it out of my head since I first saw its forefather 16622 in a dealer's window in Brighton back in 2003. Finally managed to get my hands on the upgraded 116622 in 2015.
Not a fan of the coppery rose gold though. Also, the rubberised bracelet detracts from the elegance and refinement of the YM. Still a great piece of course just not a fan of RG on rubber.
Yes I love that model too
I like it, a lot.
Personally I'd go for the "White Walker" should I ever get the chance
Agreed
I bought my Yacht Master 40 Blue face in 2015 with the platinum bezel and its absolutely stunning when you see it in bright sunshine and still think so now. At the time there was only the blue face or white face and felt special. Totally agree with you about the gold ii and don't even see it as part of the same range. The only thing I have never understood is why the blue face doesn't get more love, the Platinum bezel and red second hand look amazing against the sunburst blue face and there is nothing blingey about it.... Maybe it's me because I also have a black face Milgauss and think that is one of the best looking Rolexes full stop...... and that's also hated by many......
Blue dial YM is stunning, esp with that red hand. I personally love the Rhodium YM with the blue hand.
I also have the black face Milgauss, but I think I prefer the white with orange.
@@TheWatchGuysTV Yes agree, the white face is very cool. It amazes me how much hate the Milgauss gets....don't understand it. I'm now being tempted by the multi coloured Oysters that have come out......
Do you think this will keep its value very well? I think I first noticed this watch by tennis player Dominic Thiem.
It hasn’t so far, but I’ve noticed prices climbing now, perhaps because it’s discontinued
@@TheWatchGuysTV thanks. I noticed the prices have been fluctuating like the stock market. I've been eyeing a Rolex Hulk for about a year, right now the price is crazy.
Which of the 3 sizes is your model? I have small wrist but would love one - I'm saving already 😊
40
42 is superb
Great watch and great channel, love your videos❤.
What about a giveaway?😅👍
That could be interesting
Yachmaster 11..too Caddyshack. That's so cruel. I love mine. Now I'll never be able to wear it again. But I'm not a fan of yours. When my chiropractor bought one without knowing what he'd bought it put me of it... nothing against my chiro. Have to admit I was known to wear a blue blazer with gold buttons. As always a great review. When will you give us a review on your Daytona.
I’d dismissed this until I watched your video; now appreciate the details of it much more. A decent addition to any collection
I own a datejust 36mm 116233 onyx dial and really like yacht master because I come in 37mm for my little men wrists hopefully to own one by the end of the years to celebrate my accomplishment for this year
What would you think if a guy picked up a ym in 37mm, quite like the rhodium but skinny wrist means 40mm looks a bit out of place
Don’t know if you’ve tried a diver in 40mm before but a 37mm diver looks REALLY small because the actually dial will be smaller because of the bezel.
that matte black bezel doesn't push any buttons for me. i do like the platinium rhodium dial version!
It’s a good looking model that’s sadly marred by two issues: 1. Tiny gap between its strap and case is simply unacceptable. It puzzles me why Rolex doesn’t just equip it with Rubber B / Everest-like strap..? It can also easily be reinforced with metal structure. 2. No Easylink / Glidelock means that getting perfect fit in changing weather condition will prove challenging. Both issues shouldn’t deter anyone to buy it though. Swapping its bracelet to Everest rubber strap is a simple fix that just about anyone can do at a fair price.
1- I completely agree, why? Also I hate what they are doing with the rubber version of the Daytona, Sky Dweller... I hate it
2- on the new version of this watch there is the glidelock, so maybe there is on this one as well
Im thinking of buying one. Is there an alternative for the rubber strap?
I’m sure you could fit any strap if you can find one at the right size. The rubber makes the watch though
i love almost everything about this watch but i know i'd scuff up the rosegold
Finally got one from UK yesterday 126655
👍🏻👍🏻
Damian or Jason, who gets a BB58 Blue first - The race is on!
It’s Damian
Enjoy
Thanks, Mike
Great video as usual. I am actually a big fan of this yacht master 40 I think it’s beautiful. But like you said it is very different from your traditional Rolex sports watch. I am also a big fan of how the oysterflex looks.
Blingy? Are you for real?
It’s beautiful
I’ve bought the new glide lock 2021 model, pictures and video doesn’t do it justice, you have to hold it in your hands then it’s wow. It’s a sleeper.Lionel Messi signed his PSG contract wearing one.
It’s the Patek aquanaut of the Rolex collection. A misunderstood watch for now, but won’t be for long. Like the aquanaut, it’s not flashy and flies under the radar. It’s for the wealthy individual who doesn’t want the attention of an all gold Rolex. The first Rolex to have the oysterflex strap will be of historical significance many years from now.
You may well be right.
If only it had solid end links like the Daytona on oysterflex
I am searching for the yacht master 40mm slate dial . yours is interesting . a agree the white yacht master is , not the most attractive piece. how many watches are in your stable ? be safe. ~ JDS/CT
Looks good with the black strap and dial.
Nice watch. You didn't elaborate on the reason you wont use your local dealer anymore
I found C Fox rude, dismissive, and seemed disinterested in developing an ongoing relationship. I guess they just like to look after their own. They openly laughed in my face when I said I collected steel sports Rolexes, and never once called me back. I went to Laings in Southampton - completely different approach, now my preferred choice - have bought many models from them in a short space of time.
