I think my biggest change in my life is when I decided not to be a victim. It might sound harsh but really, as you said getting out of the this too will pass mentality really works! About 7 years ago I was diagnosed with lupus, and it has been a huge fight, fighting with doctors, with wrong medications and most with my body. It wasn’t until I decided that there must be something positive in this, there must be something I’m meant to learn and it must be away of turning this situation to something good.
I’m still sick today, recently found that I have a prolactinoma and that most likely my chronic migraine is caused by it. But I try everyday to work towards my goals in life, even tho the steps are smaller than when I feel good, I’m still taking those steps everyday. There is always something you can do and even if it goes slower than you want to you can still go forward!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I love your videos!

That's such a powerful testimony! Clearly you've overcome a lot.
Rising above the victim mentality really is such an incredibly important step for each of us to take. It's impossible to move forward in life when we let circumstances stop us.
      Thank you for sharing! ❤

I like the message you are sending! My first video 2 months ago, was on "how to be happy", but we all have struggles and it is how we handle them that is what makes us stronger! Sending hugs! 💜

Wonderful. I fully agree! I suggest another one:
#7: Be thankful! Be thankful for what has been given to you without your merit, may it be good health, family, support by others, opportunities - but even obstacles and challenges which help you grow! Thankfulness brings you further along your path!

Solid wisdom Gillian. I loved that we all start at infancy, the seed must be planted and watered to manifest your dreams/desires/ventures. You must start somewhere. Study your mentors. You are an inspiration. I know there are opportunities everywhere for me. Thank you for your Monday commitment for creating content for this UA-cam community.

In 2018 I learned how to be happy. After decades of depression I had my best year ever as a person. My then fiance' got a cochlear implant and I watched as the months passed and she learned to hear and listen to music again. She has even started to branch out from the 80's , when she still could hear music and that is what she remembers, to new music. My step daughter graduated from college and was married. I got married in August. My daughter gave me my first grandson (biological) in November and my wife and I just had our first Christmas where we allowed ourselves to buy each other gifts. Without learning to allow myself to be happy, I wouldn't have appreciated what I went through. 2019 will start with me starting two YT channels to cover my passions (metal music and fishing). 2018 was the setup and the best year of my life. I am making the rest grow on it. Love your channel and may you have a wonderful new year.

All six of your pieces of wisdom are life changing, if applied. Number 4 struck a chord with me especially. We all start the same. That favorite author struggled with the first paragraph of her first book. The difference is not giving up when it's a struggle. To be consistent and persistent is what makes success possible.

Bahaha I always say, “this too shall pass...it might pass like a kidney stone, but it’ll pass.” 😆 And I agree...The reminder that it’ll pass is helpful but shouldn’t be used to just escape or wait for it to go away. Embrace the moment and what it has to offer you, even if it’s just practicing patience or positivity. 🙏🏻

  • @AdrianaGirdler

You're so right about automating activities. Since I became a mother I realised how important habits are. Ask me two years ago if I would do laundry and mop every day, I'd have thought you were crazy. But now that it's necessary to keep the house running, it becomes a rule and I rarely miss those activities. I've chosen to give myself other rules about sugar and social media use which I've managed to keep because I made them rules. To begin with I stuck with them because they were rules, then after a couple of months they never ingrained habits.

Hello Gillan, this is quite inspiring! Certainly, no condition is permanent, especially negative ones, and we get out of them by faith. 'The just shall live by faith'. Life itself is a game of faith. If you're on the downside of life, by faith, you can get out of it, without being bitter with anybody, because it's actually nobody's fault.

Gillian this was a great video. It really gets to the heart of entrepreneurship that so many dream of achieving. I found your channel a few months ago and I'm so glad I did. Your philosophy of sharing and transparency is so sincere and honest. I've been an entrepreneur for many years...and I'm still creating companies and opportunities. I've had my share of winners and losers. You're right we learn from our experiences every day and from every challenge. The quote that I use is, "It's never as bad as you think it will be, but it's never as great as you think it will be either". So, get after it!! Thanks so much for your videos.

Thank you for this. I am currently reading "Awaken the giant within" and the 6th advise sounds very similar to one of the concepts discussed in this book. The idea that we have the power to decide what kind of life do we want to live and what habits do we want to develope. Deciding to change something that feels easy to something that is difficult but feels like the right thing to do is difficult. But,if we decide strong enough,we could do anything. I love this idea.

PLEASE READ: Your #3 point was somewhat confusing and I disagree. I don't make or have a lot of money. Everything I have I keep neat, clean, and take very good care of it because I know I can not just get what I want when I want it. My car is a 2001 Camry that has had all it checkups at the mileage as it comes up. The clothes I wear people always compliment , and I mean people like random strangers, because I take care of them. I am never late with my mortgage, or home bills and I have no CC debt. Yet, I am considered poor in today's society in the ranking of salaries. Please take a moment to elaborate on what you actually said. This is the first time ,watching you for so long ,that I was offended. Did you say poor people do not take care or care for their items and are messy, and rich people are on top of things? You were on point with the rest of your points. With all do respect darling 🙋🏻

Susan I’m in the same boat
The people who for some reason get offended that I don’t live my life like they do are in debt
I know quite a few people who have little and make the most of it and they are healthy and happy and when an opportunity comes their way they can take it because they don’t have anything to weigh them down
So good for you and God bless
Stay on the straight and narrow humbly and I hope you succeed
