  • This 19:10mins song is the only song of the EP "Where The Long Shadows Fall (Beforetheinmostlight)" by the English band Current93. It forms the first part of the "Inmost Light" trilogy; the second being 1996's "All The Pretty Little Horses: The Inmost Light" and the last being 1996's "The Starres Are Marching Sadly Home (Theinmostlightthirdandfinal)". The piece consists of David Tibet's spoken and whispered vocals over eerie noises and the "long shadows" loop, which is a sample of Alessandro Moreschi, the only castrato who made recordings, singing "Domine, Domine". Barely audible at the end of the piece is John Balance speaking the improvised phrase, "Why can't we all just walk away?" A 17-second excerpt of "The Frolic", from All the Pretty Little Horses, appears as a hidden track.
Originally available on compact disc and vinyl, the EP was reissued as part of the boxed set The Inmost Light in 2007.
    Recorded/Released 1995
    Length 19:10
    Label Durtro
Producer Steven Stapleton, David Tibet, Michael Cashmore

This song is still epic decades later. I feel lucky to have seen C93 live in NY that year. 1996. Now~ I love playing my cello with it. It’s so beautiful. Thanks for posting.

This sound has haunted me - in the most productive, creative, inspirational way possible for a Writer - since I first heard this in 2001 or 2002. In 2018 it now haunts me again, and I relish it! This is as an anthem of not being distracted by dumber things which the present world is full of. My notebooks are thankful for it. What accounts for my "Spirit" - is thankful for it. David Tibet - hail unto thee! And thanks.

Tracks like this and musicians like David Tibet are why I can see through the Caretakers tricks and lies. There is more to ambient and drone than just adding cracks and white noise

@@ryobibattery to be fair, the entire work wasn’t really intended to be binged. It was designed as 4 albums, each being released a year apart. I believe the idea behind it was that you were paying your yearly visit to the caretaker as they progress further into dementia, and the time between visits is paramount to the impact of how the disease has degraded the music since your last visit. Each album is probably like 90 minutes
