this is the first movie that I realized how great an actor Ledger was
Brothers Grimm (2005) seems to be a mix of The Evil Dead (1981), Ghost Busters (1984), Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001), Van Helsing (2004). Perhaps you'll find more models.
The directors intention: Revenge! Young Terry Gilliam was often scared by the dark tales collected and published by the Grimms. So, when grown up, he took the chance to kick the Grimms off their high horse and threw them into the same abyss of fear and horror he experienced in his nightmares.
This needs a remake. Not because of the acting or anything like that, but because of it's clearly dated effects. I just wish the entire cast could get back together again.
thunderstones1 Not possible, as for example Heath Ledger died in 2008. But a remake with new effects, (not overusage or poor CGI) would be great.
Hence my wish for the cast to get back together, I wish Heath was still alive. After seeing the new Fantastic Four though....i'd like to offer the afterlife a trade of the Fox execs for Heath Ledger and Paul Walker.
+thunderstones1 i don't see a need to be honest, unless they got terry gillam in to do it again.
It's a fun movie but frankly not a timeless one. This needs a remake that allows for that title because the story is great.
thunderstones1 I think if they allowed Gilliam to take the film where he wanted to originally then we would have a timeless film, but it's just fuckin film studios trying to run everything, that's why I find it hard to see where a remake would help

This movie is one of the most terrifying things I ever saw, and I only saw barely half of it with my eyes closed. It's probably really cheesy now, at least in effects, but I still remember the eye in the tar, and my sister can't stand to be around horses

The evil queen was a witch who wanted to live forever with eternal youth, the spells she had were actually from those forest people, it all started when a king came to that forest to make his city and castle and killed the forest people because he believed they were pagans and witches and so he burned them in the caves with those drawing and inscriptions of their spells that were used for good things. The king cut down all the trees for his city but he was unaware that the queen took the forest people's spell for evil purposes to live forever and became an evil vain witch. When the plague came to the king's city, he and his people died, but the queen was in her tower, safe from the plague, but it was carried in the air and then she felt sick but she didn't die as long as she was immortal, after that disaster, some other people buried the king and his people in the castle and blocked all the windows and the door in her tower except her chamber window because they believed she was dead also, but they didn't realize that she was immortal and a witch. 500 years later, the youth didn't go along with her immortal and she turned so rotten and grotesque and so she created twelve crypts surrounding her tower so she get 12 girls and perished beneath the blood moon as a way to make the moon full and illuminate the queen so she can have eternal youth as long as she drinks the blood from them as a way to be connected with the moon's illumination. When the years past the ruined city were overgrown by the forest saplings and the forest people's caves were still there with their drawings that said that the blood moon will come when the 12 girls will sleep beneath the moon's power for the queen's evil plot to get their youth. The forest people wrote those drawing on the walls in the caves to make good spells to fight death and make immortality but the queen selfish took their spells for evil purposes. The Brothers Grimm must save the 12 girls from that terrible fate by that vain witch. Some great fairy tale!

I remember watching that movie once when i was ike 4,5,or 6 and the next night i wanted to see it again so dad played it on the portable dvd player but then it died like 5 minutes in so i screamed and so daddy put new batteries in or something,but then i asked for chocolate milk so he said maybe watch it tomorrow but then i never saw it again and for years i wondered what it was called until last night i looked up kid turns into gingerbread cuz that's a scene i remember and i swear that it's this movie

This movie actually made my childhood little better, i had good time watching this, i couldn't get enough.. I never wasn't scared, i was simply fascinated by that creepy long-haired princess. I feel bad for you, i guess you don't like it because it was scary..? Only really ugly thing in this movie is that terrible mud beast or what the hell it is. :D

my dad told me rapunzel was in this movie and when i did the only thing that was close was the woman with long black hair rotted in a tower and loved her apperance and died of a plauge, my dad knew it wasnt rapunzel he lied to me and im litterally heart broken :'(
