My God, you're so right about Stay Tuned for Danger. I still remember how positively TERRIFIED I was as a 12-year-old when I walked into Rick's dressing room, only to find the words DIE RICK written in bright red lipstick on the mirror. The music chosen for that scene was so effective! And that RECORDING DEVICE WITH THE MUFFLED VOICE, telling you that there is an EXPLOSIVE DEVICE in the room that will BLOW YOUR BODY TO SMITHEREENS. Then you have to diffuse the bomb and--just, my God, Dwayne Powers might just have been the scariest culprit of them all!
He is truly terrifying!!
I'm likely the odd one out here, the one where the culprit is everyone is my favorite because that's a lot of the time the scariest ones in real life. In real life it's common, yes, but not as common for only one person to be at fault. Within the same vein the ones that do it just because are also my favorite for the same reason. In real life those are the scariest because you never know if they could decide to do that all again.
All I thought when I saw this video was “BECAUSE I CAAAAAN”
PRECISELY! LOL!
Thank you for validating my thoughts and feelings on the absurdity that is the plot for Creature of Kapu Cave! Good gravy 😔
“Let’s get a guy to release pheromones to spike the population of this one specific bug to destroy the pineapple crop so we can blame it on a cryptid that hasn’t been seen or heard of in years so we can get some land because this will force the Hili Hili to sell.”
WHAT?!
EXACTLY!
Your audible essay skills are TOP NOTCH. Love listening to you take us through a journey with reason and structure as well as interesting storytelling! As far as exposition dump I totally agree. I love the feeling of coming to my own conclusion via hints and clues.
That is so kind of you to say!! Thank you!
"Because I can" is a brilliant motive and Ewan is the greatest villain of the entire ND series!
Oh wait, it isn't quite April 1st yet. Never mind...
Bahahaha! April Fools!!

SPOILER WARNING:
As far as motives go, I really love Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake because every
character has a different potential motive! I remember the first time playing it and just taking a wild guess at who I thought it was. Even if Emily’s motive isn’t the strongest, it’s fun that all the characters could potentially be the culprit, which leaves you guessing until the last little bit of the game
I do love when all of the suspects have a possible motive! Several games do that really well and I think DOG is definitely one of them!
I absolutely love the emotional complexity of the motives in FIN and GTH, and the compassion other characters have for the culprits. Not to say that they shouldn’t be held accountable for their actions; it’s just a nice reminder that our mistakes don’t have to define us.
Except for MID. I don’t think it can be defined as anything other than an aggregation of faults
Well said!! I absolutely agree!
also i LOVE that you still love dwayne despite being spoiled by RAN ahead of time! he's far and away one of the best culprits of the series and i feel like he's super underrated
It could just be me, but I thought Corrine’s original motive was to get the book. She wanted to get everyone to go home for winter break so she could search the school. Traumatizing her classmates that she resented was a perk for her. That makes it an even better motive to me😊
I wished they elaborated on Why corine wanted to find it. was it to sell it and be famous?
This immediately made me think of danger on deception island. I love that game but boy…. The most complicated way to achieve a motive! It baffles me every time I play it! I also always assumed that Sonny was true culprit in the shattered medallion. That game is so so angering but forgettable at the same time! Definitely agree with your worst motive category!
I know what you mean about DDI! It fell in the "fine" category for me. It's more or less your standard money motive without much more beyond that. And yes, MED is just so aggravating XD
"Greetings fellow dectives, Wizard Kitten here..." brings me immense joy ❤️
Aw yay!! I'm so happy to hear that!
I'm a bit late, but I gotta share my thoughts about the culprit motivation in LIE--or, more specifically, Grigor and Niobe. (Xenia and Thanos' motivations are eh.) But I really liked how Grigor and Niobe were written. By the end of the game, they just wanted to get out of everything alive, and I found it really compelling and interesting that they wanted to help Nancy but were afraid of Xenia and Thanos. And characters like that are quite interesting, imo. Just shows that it's pretty easy to get in over your head if you aren't careful with who you associated with.
I also want to say that the culprit in SCK (the original), in my opinion, while not having the most interesting motivation, probably has one of the most realistic motivations. Someone was threatening his drug operation, so he killed them. In real life, several homicides are the result of drug deals gone wrong or something like that. Just something cool, even though the stakes for the murder he committed weren't as high/the thing wasn't as high profile as the murder in DED.
Excellent points! I totally see what you're saying about both!!
Loved this video! I really enjoyed your explanation of Trail of the Twister's villain motive. It's strong and would have made an excellent game had it not been an aggravatingly boring chore simulator. In fact a good handful of puzzles lead to frustrating results/no reward.
I totally agree! Had the lead up to the end not been so tedious, TOT could have been fantastic!
I actually like the culprits in CRE, and I think that whole exposition dump is the reason the game is disliked by many. I think their motive is one of the more unique in the games. You can actually discover some of the motive in the game, but it’s behind obscure dialogue options that many wouldn’t find if they weren’t specifically looking for it.
Also, I think Renee (who’s one of my favorite culprits too) is one of the most evil characters in the Nancy Drew games. The way she’s completely unfazed by Bruno’s death is really creepy, I’ve always had a hard time believing his heart attack from her fake letter wasn’t an accident even if she says it was.
I do agree that the CRE motive could have worked so much better if it was more integrated into the game!! There's a lot about CRE that could have been really cool!
Spoiler for "Secret of Shadow Ranch" here, but I wanted to point out what bothered me so much about the ending to "Ransom of the Seven Ships".
Why the heck didn't they use Shorty as the returning culprit instead of Dwayne Powers? They used Shorty's voice actor for Dwayne's return, and Shorty's motive in his original game would have made way more sense with this game. He wanted to find treasure in "Shadow Ranch"; it would have made perfect sense for him to want to find the treasure in "Seven Ships" as well! That was a HUGE missed opportunity for Her Interactive!
Oooh, you're right. This would make for a much more satisfying ending.
I have never seen your videos nor played any Nancy Drew PC games but I found this video quite entertaining!
That's so awesome to hear! Welcome to the channel!!
One of my favorite villains is Anya from Captive Curse. I feel she has a great backstory and motive!
I do love her revenge motive too!
my favorite villain and favorite motive. what a baddie
Nancy drew is SO FUN to play while weed high
Lol, I bet!
MEOW! Kiri was the WORST! Like you, I played Ransom first, and didn't know who that weirdo was pretending to be a Jamaican.
Right?! Very confusing! On both accounts!
I kinda wish HER makes an all star game where they bring back some of the past characters including fan favourites and a culprit or more, or the culprit themselves could be an innocent suspect in the past, it would be great for fanservice nostalgia. But with how they handled it in Ransom of the Seven Ships, I fear there might be a lot of problems like continuity error involved.
YEEHAW! I am so happy you made this video! I havent been able to watch many of your recent videos because the past couple of weeks were incredibly busy and stressful, but now I have the time so I will watch all!
"Because I can" was an amazing motive, wasnt it? 😂
I feel like the ending of Silent Spy was messed up - I mean I'm glad we stopped Ewan, but Kate's killer is still at large, maybe that should have been the focus.....
Anyways, great video as usual! 😃🤗
Oof, totally agree! If SPY had just focused on solving the mystery of Kate's death, things could've been SO much more interesting!
Happy Wizard Kitten Wednesday! 🐱🕵🏻
Hooray!!
Always love the analysis videos! Happy to see another one ✨
I'm so glad you like them!!
so i found this channel a few days ago and i ADORE it but i can't stand the ewan macleod slander 😭 i swear nobody understands him 😭 (seriously wonderful content though, it's brought me a lot of comfort during a rough week)
I like Angry Lawyer lady better haha.😂😂😂
I agree 😂
Anyone who has all 33 how much hard drive space does the series take up?
I would need to check the exact number, but honestly not that much. They're pretty low demand up until Midnight in Salem!
I asked because I wonder if the total memory that takes up can fit on a single switch cartridge.
@@matthewsimmons9277 How much space is there on a single switch cartridge?
32 to 64 gb is the limit. The 64gb limit cartridges were introduced in 2020.
I’ve always had to delete the games after I’m done. I’d love the have just a Nancy drew computer to keep all the games on!
Ransom of the Seven Ships spoiled Stay Tuned for Danger for me 😬
Yes!! Exactly!
