Two years ago I would have never imagined how much I could enjoy watching videos about someone tasting tea. Thank you! Unfortunately, I limit my purchases because of shipping across the Pond- and now I want to wait until you have this in! But, I'm low on a couple favorites so I guess I'll just have to place that order.
Hey Don @meileaf ! Question for you... What are the differences of these words (tea types?): Yan cha, Wu Yi, Dancong, Rock Rhyme, Mi Lan Sian (sp?), and Rou Gui? Do they all fit into the Oolong category but are different cultivars within the Oolong parentage? Coming from a Western mindset, I've only really known tea types to be broken down into green, white, black, oolong, and tisanes--so all these types of tea you mention are quite new to me! I'd love to hear and learn more about it if you're looking for video ideas. Thank you so much for all the tea education. I've LOVED watching and learning SO much wonderful info on tea. It really has changed my world!
Really cool you are doing bowl tea! I always see Global Tea Hut doing this... haven't ever tried it myself but they make it look great online I'm glad you shared that you do indeed sometimes just drink and enjoy tea without complex analysis, I didn't know that about you
@don, can you share your thoughts about brewing "western teas" (regardless of if they're flavoured or not) like Earl Grey or Ceylon teas by gong fu method?
Late fuschia! That's the south coast for you. I got the 'right' order fairly quickly based on the prettiness of the leaves, which made me think: is there a tea that generally looks bad in the cup but is a sign of quality? What's the best looking, worst tasting tea you've had, and vice versa?
Surprisingly it does not since it loses temperature quite rapidly. If it tastes bitter then add more water to dilute or pour away and have another brew.
Terpenes are aromatic compounds and when a tea plant is bitten by hugs they produce different terpenes to try to protect themselves. Please search for 'what is bug bitten tea' and you should find a video from us explaining.
You know how in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade the Grail Knight is immortal but can't leave the temple? I reckon Don might end up like that but with a Pu'erh cave in Yunnan :)
Hey don, you probably get asked this a lot, but what is a good tea to get I to if I’m just getting more serious about tea? I’m specifically looking to try a pu-erh as I’ve never had one before
Hi. The shipping cost is calculated directly with the shipping companies at the time of checkout and depends on weight and size of parcel. The cost is what we would pay to send the tea to you, we do not add any extra.
@@MeiLeaf I'm sure you're not adding anything extra but you must have the worst deal out there with these shipping companies. I've been your customer for over 4 years, and there was always more than one shipping option, at various rates. Until now. Now, whether I want to buy $10 worth of tea or $200, there's only one shipping option, and is about the same (about $41 for the $10 purchase, or about $38 for the $200). And you have to either not care about money or be mad to pay that much on shipping fees.

25 years ago I never thought I would be sitting and filming myself tasting tea!
The meditative simplicity of bowl brewing is such a joy. 😌
Wouldn't mind at all a whole bowl tea video dive!
The best tea channel on youtube.
I'm learning a lot from your channel. Thank you :D
Beautiful life
Love this, I'm not one for details .. temp, water to leaf... Enjoy the sea and air !

Nice video as ever. 🥰

if it's relatively parameter-less is a tutorial necessary? but it was really nice seeing a different brewing style, it seems really comfortable to do
Yes this is the irony/paradox. You can talk a lot about Bowl Brewing but it's essence is that it is not something to really discuss.

Taiwan!!!

Doesn't the tea become bitter and overbrewed with this method when you drink it the second or third time ?
Love your videos❤
I wouldnt think so since the water cools alot faster in an open bowl than a Gawain or pot

Why couldn't I of seen this a year ago when I first started my tea journey lol

I’m specifically looking to try a pu-erh as I’ve never had one before
Do you ever really like a tea while sampling, and then decide you don’t like it after doing the 10 step tasting?
It has happened a few times in 20 years.
Yan Cha are to tea what Cru Burgundies are to wine.
What! After all that you aren’t going to tell us what the tea is? Cheated Don! Cheated!!
Wow! Nearly $40 USD shipping fee to Canada? Ridiculous. I guess you're not counting on too much business from North America.

The solution is clearly to buy $500 worth of tea to justify the shipping :)
Happy to see that normalcy returned, and there are now 3 shipping options at different rates. So, to celebrate that I just placed an order. :)
