I actually envisioned something like this for tunneling on Mars where blasting would be both dangerous and require constant shipments of blasting media. A larger center hole for relief of stress and a calving operation to collapse the stone into the relief hole. And here you’ve already designed the foundational technology. This was for a story I’ll probably never write LOL.
