When The Cantor's Daughter Started Singing Along

- Chassidim sing the Russian version of "Who Knows One?" as the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, distributes wine from the cup of the After-blessing. When a young girl sings along into the microphone, he gently reminds her to clap rather than sing, and stops the line of visitors to clap along with her.

A gadol cares not only about the klal but each yid. He cared not only for her feelings and make sure she didn't feel embarrassed, felt connected, but also for her education and ruchnius to help her learn the proper manner.
miklos, That man singer daughter's dad, and that might make them uncomfortable and hurt their feelings if their father away from them. Look how the Rebbe was so thoughtful and gentle
i would expect anyone to be thoughtful and gentle in such a case...
These are my favorite movie clips to watch besides Concious Judaism and Rebbe Friedman
He was a rabbi, rabbis teach people and thats what he did nobody was "offended" by the girl singing no need to be all upset chill out guys
why varned the Girls to go a bit aside from the men?
She was little girl why couldn't they have just let her sing along?
@@henryness3233 I find it offensive how you just assume I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm an Orthodox Jew. So A) before bat Mitzvah there is leeway, and B) the halacha is that as long as it is impossible to distinguish the voice of the female from the rest of the group then mixed singing is allowed. Since this girl is small it would not be possible to differentiate her voice
Modesty for men and woman is an important value in the teachings. Modesty in dress, behavior and in every way. For girls and woman not being loud or singing in public is taught to be a form of modesty and to enhance the gentility and femininity of woman so she can have a successful and happy marriage. The lesson might be difficult for other cultures to understand but there is wisdom in the eloquent execution of the intended outcome. And our household is feminist and can see this. Singing for girls and women is fine w those you are close with, just not the public. It’s the same w your hair when your married, it’s more sacred and special when that part of your sensuality is only for your husband to see and experience.
it makes sense that the rebbe and lubuvutch are strict about it
Its not about pshat Halacha, if thats what you want go somewhere with kuladika derech. The Rebbe cared for ger education and ruchnius. He understood what happens to people. Just look today at all the horrible stuff going on with "modern" orthodox. Even places calling themselves Chabad. The Rebbe understood more than what most people give him credit for.
chabad needs a soprano..in fact i dont think god can live without sopranos..
That is a blessing you say that as I am soprano and it comforts me concerning something specific I experienced. Thank you.
I would not be surprised that she became a ticked-off feminist after this....
or a neoorthodox lesbian rabbi
actually its my sister. She is fine. Thanks
Women or girls aren't allowed to sing to G-D?
In some communities and Hasidic ramifications women are not allowed to sing alone in public. As far I know is not the case of Chabad philosophy, but in the situation the father of the girl is who was singing.
With all due respect, i would EXPECT ANYONE, especially a "holy" man , to be sensitive to a little girl in such a context. A little girl, alone in a room busting with testosterone. The larger issue is, do these men have such little control over their sexual energy that a prepubescent girl singing is so arousing as to have to be haram? Its one thing to have men and women pray seperately, its another to worry about a little girl. I would have been far more impressed if the Rebber had simply overlooked it.
Good point, but that is not what this is about. As you probably know, adults are supposed to teach children at a young age the proper way to act and to instill in them torah way of life. This has nothing to do with sex. It has everything to do with teaching the young children how to act accordingly. The men aren't telling her to clap because of they can't control their sexual energy, most of these men stay virgins until marrage and only have sex to procreate These men are the most sexually pure people in the world and even look down when they are walking in the street to protect their eyes from looking at women. I would be careful writing stuff on the internet without doing a proper search into what Judaism is all about. Educate yourself on the Torah and the teachings of the rabbis and u will find that everything in the torah is true and could not be written by a human being. Only god
@@henryness3233 I appreciate your informative response. Thank you
@@henryness3233 that didnt answer the question why is the little girl not allowed to sing with her father?
@@mack8206 It was answered. The sole purpose is to educate children at a very young age so they can have instilled in them the proper characteristics.
