  • After winter I noticed that one side of my Renault Megane II 1.5 dci back is lower than other so I figured out it is time to replace the rear spring at lowest side. I had a few cm difference, especially I could notice if I put a key between the tire and the arch, where one side gap was smaller than other side!
Since I have never done this before I kind a learnt how to do it in the process so I hope this video might help you just to see what is going on when you have to replace rear spring on Renault Megane and what sort of tools you need to do this!
Just so you know, to do this, you will have to lift both of your rear sides of the car, you will have to let both spring loose to remove even one of them of course there is a bypass, but I would not recommend this in case you can do it correct way.
As well dont judge my for not replacing the bushings for the rear spring, to be honest I kind a forget to order a new ones and luckily for me the old ones seemed ok..
Any way in the end of the day work was completed and car seems all right after this work!
If I would not record this, first time doing this would take me probably 30mins-1h, if I would have done this before, so not the hardest work at all, just make sure you got at least two jack stands to lift up the car and suspension frame to be able to open the bolts and put them back! :) And was well you will need prolonged socket to open the nut and a spinner or another socket to lock the bolt in the place while you bolt it!

Hy, would you please let me know if your Megane 2 is equiped with heavey duty suspention? I"ve got an 1,6 16v 2006 Renault megane and, recently, as I was at the dealer"s to repleace the timming belt, water pump, accesories belt, defazour pully, they showed me that my rear springs were broken.I didn"t want to leave there with the broaken springs, but, becouse that wasen:t scheduled, they did"t have the OE springs in stock, so I made them order some after market ones, (KYB, just like yours) as those could arrive in a few hours. My car being equiped with heavy duty package, though, ofcourse, the KYB springs make it sit even lower than it seated with the broacken original springs, and they are kind of bouncy, too. Heavy duty or not, I would like to know, if you please, if you have by chance noticed that your car sits lower too with the KYBS, so I can get an idea if the difference of clearance, in my case, is due to the fact that have duty springs are tougher or longer (allthough both, the OE and the KYB ones, had the same lenght and nomber of spirals) or it" simply due to the lower quality in the LYB ones. In other words i want to be able to appreciate if it"s worth changing them with OE ones. TKS in advance.

Hi, thanks for question. To be honest I didnt manage to test them for too much, bcos mine car was totaled shortly later, but I hear you. I think it might be as you say that kyb will be different than OEM. For me I didnt see nor feel big change (but to be honest mine front struts werent that great as well (not OEM, not even a good brand) so I might not notice anything any way). But in short, depends of your car condition and have you noticed any other major changes than a little clearance change after spring replacement. If i would not feel any major difference using the car, then I would save some money and go by those you installed.

@@JUrtanschannel kybs are way harder and lower than the heavy duty OEs. All and all, lower but much more stable. I really enjoyed those OE s, smoother ride, though less stable overall.
