    Tezuka Takashi truly is an underrated game developer! He shaped Mario into what it is now. I'm so glad to hear they took the time they needed to flesh out fresh and new ideas! I can really imagine the creative process of this game being really fun. Plus, the idea of making courses more interesting to replay and the addition of secret exists really excites me! This is the kind of "tridimensionaly" the 2D mario franchise needed! ♡

    I understand why this game exists, and why it needed to. I don't understand some snob reactions to various aspects to this game, because these are all things that fans have been clambering for, and now they suddenly don't want that anymore. I don't understand Nintendo Fans, as a Nintendo Fan myself.

      ""Nintendo fans"". A majority of people who claim to be Nintendo fans only say they are because they've played Nintendo games at some point in their life - or even played it for years, but have since moved on to love other consoles more. Nothing wrong with switching preferences, but definitely something wrong with those who claim they still love a console/series/franchise when they haven't played one in years.
      There's a difference with being in love with a personal touch (fan) and a concept/memory (""fan"").
      There's a TON of ""Nintendo fans"" out there, but very few that actually understand what MAKES a Nintendo game a Nintendo game.
      Frankly, it's like every Pokemon fan can SAY they hate Sword & Shield and/or Scarlet & Violet, but if they haven't actually played either: they literally have nothing to complain about and are just banding with the vocal majority who just hate popular games that they don't/can't own.

      You always gonna get entitled brats finding something to whine about. Rather it Mario getting a new voice, lack of online play, characters not being playable the art style or talking flowers... People like that give mario fans a bad name.

      Bro what are u even talking about I've been following this game all over the internet since its announcement and the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.
      It always baffles me how on every topic or game someone has to shift the topic to a bunch of strawman people that barely even exist enough to be noticed, if even at all.

      Asking for the option to turn off the talking flowers for example, which does exist for those that want that. But you gotta ask. Why? After almost 2 decades since Sunshine, we as a collective group wanted more voice acting and exchange dialogue in the mainline series, and now that we have it, we don't want it no more? I don't understand Nintendo Fans.@@precisemotion

    I'm not a huge Mario person. I buy nearly all Mario games, but since I'm not that big on platforming: it's mostly just the RPGs and Kart games that I have a good time with.
    However... I am VERY much into partial-passive support (passive multiplayer) in games.
    In games like Demon/Dark Souls, I spent plenty of time leaving (actually helpful) clues for other players, joining other people's worlds to help them take down difficult bosses/areas, and would even invade other people's worlds just to help cut through all the enemies standing in their way.
    In games like Dragon's Dogma, I spent a ton of time hiring other people's Pawns (custom NPCs), having them fight tougher bosses and escorting them through difficult areas - just so I could send that knowledge back to their owners (the Pawns would pass on hints and knowledge to their owner from their own experiences).
    Even back in ye old Miiverse days, I'd give tips and tricks to fellow players. Sometimes even spending an afternoon to create guides (screenshots and all) to post up on game pages.
    So... even though it's not QUITE the same: the fact that I can help online players by popping their ghost bubbles and leaving standees... makes me VERY interested in playing this game.
    I'm not awful at platforming games, I just lack motivation to beat/best them... Frankly, my skills are just a few steps below pro-level, but several steps above intermediate - only because I've been playing these sort of games since I was a wee lad. So... I SHOULD be able to help out a lot of players in need for this game.
    Just thinking about it gets me excited. I'm hyped.

      @DaveNodon  Рік тому +1

      Totally agree. I saw some of the people who got to play early said they could watch others doing particularly hard segments or unlocking secrets and that gave them ideas. It’s cool to think that you speed running or going for completion could be inspiring someone else somewhere in the world struggling.
      Also I have like 400+ hours in dragons dogma 😆 I can’t wait for 2. Even if it kind of looks very similar so far. I just want more, it’s really like nothing I’ve ever played before it or since. Huge fanboy

      @@DaveNodon Dragon's Dogma was honestly my favorite adventure game of all time. It's not the perfect story, not the perfect settings, not the perfect anything - but it mixed Western and Japanese RPG elements together in such a seamless and beautiful way. Whenever I played Western RPGs, I always felt like some Japanese RPG elements would really help the games stand out more and feel more hype. Whenever I played Japanese RPGs, I always felt like some Western RPG elements would really help with progression balance and freedom of gameplay. So having a game that had both was just absolutely amazing for me.
      Sadly, for me, I'd have to wait a long time for Dragon's Dogma 2. I swore myself off of the "All Consoles" Life after the PS3/360/Wii days (though I did have a PS4 for a few years) because it took too much of my time (and money... I like all genres, so it gets really expensive) - so I just stick with Nintendo consoles now... So unless Capcom downgrades DD2 to run on Switch, or unless Nintendo releases the next console soon, I probably won't be able to play it until 3-4 years after its initial release (hopefully... with how fast technology is moving, porting games has exponentially become faster - the only thing holding them back these days is licensing).
      If you put up any videos of it, though, I'd definitely watch.
      EDIT: Oh. And the passive multiplayer in Dragon's Dogma was amazing. It made me fall in love with Passive Multiplayer, and made me wonder why in the world no other games were using it. Honestly, the Pokemon series would ABSOLUTELY benefit from passive multiplayer (people's characters walking around as NPCs, with their registered pokemon teams at the ready whenever someone challenges them to a battle - prize money is dependent on how far the npc player had progressed in their own game).

      @@DaveNodon imo very disappointing. Loses nearly everything that made the PM64 PPTTYD so amazing. Little to no rpg elements (no badges and real XP), no unique/original enemies. I think it has potential, the sliding puzzle could work but everything don’t have a nice pace that is. My idea is make the puzzle that gives less time but more moves than necessary(which is rare in this game), moving both the skill ceiling up and skill floor down. Then, I think maybe make the paper mechanic less mindless, I would propose a gluing mechanic where using glue wisely can save them up. I think it’s fine to not have any entirely original character, but maybe they should at least allow clothings applied on top of the characters, if they don’t want it to be a part of character, that’s fine, make it a 3D origami thing sticked on top of the character.

      @avocadeous Рік тому +1

      @@DaveNodonI’ll add my two cents. I liked the game, but I didn’t grow up with the first two, so I had no frame of reference when playing TOK. The worst part is the battle system, which is interesting in concept but only really gets good in the last acts of the game. The visuals and music in particular is the best in the series bar none and I’d say the characters are pretty interesting. Not Paper Mario/TTYD interesting as every character is still just paper versions of Mario characters, but interesting enough to hook me. My favourite example is a Roll of tape that acts like a mobster and uses his tape holder as a motorcycle.
      I could talk about TOK all day, but I don’t want to bombard you with a massive wall of text, so to summarise, it’s a good game in a vacuum, but it really depends on how much you liked the battle system and characters of Paper Mario. If you’re willing to give up the traditional RPG battle system and characters for a more puzzle based battle system and some less visually interesting characters, you’ll like it. Otherwise, I’d give it a pass. As much as I like TOK, it’s not for everyone.

    Don’t think they are abandoning the 2D Mario formula, I think this is more of a side project than a main one considering it’s launch at the late switch cycle and the idea of this game is more of a visual spectacle rather than gameplay improvement unlike smb3, smw or the nsmb games.

    • @lightdarksoul2097
      @lightdarksoul2097 Рік тому

      I see it as more of a test since the switch didn't get it's own dedicated 2D game. Nintendo wants to see if this kind of 2D game in the new style will sell well so they can go farther in the next game

      @@lightdarksoul2097 more proof: the recently announced Mario & donkey Kong game is based on 3D world, which is the 2D Mario I would expect, they are clearly still having that. I would think if wonder is positioned to be that mainline 2D Mario, they would’ve used that for the new mario & donkey Kong. Usually spin-off usually reuse the visual for the main game, like captain toad using 3D world because that was the newest Mario game or hyrule warrior using an artstyle similar to breath of the wild even if it released before. They knew 2D Mario and the general Mario preset is becoming stagnant and the fans want a more different game, they did it with wonder, and it’s deliberately designed without online to not draw away attention from the main 2D Mario, reused logo hinting they are sticking to the nsmb branding even if the game evolves away from that, not releasing for the switch successor and having a stylised art, more complicated system and a harder difficulty to appeal to core fans while neglecting casuals as they are developing another game for them.
