I love the fact that the lego dungeons and dragons set comes with a dungeon and a dragon
Finally an early review of this set by someone who actually plays dnd! There are so many details in this set for people who play that seem to be glossed over by a lot of the reviewers I’ve seen so far
the bat wing pieces on the dragon head were actually introduced in chima, the one they used in the classic ninja theme was very different
Oh, you’re totally right - I never actually had any of the old wing pieces, I just knew that they existed. You’re right, that’s a big difference
i wish the official image roster had shown off this set better, there’s so much more to this set than lego is telling us, the alternate heads alone do a lot for the value for play and display, it really validates it as a dnd experience. i hope that gimmick comes back for the cmfs they’re planning, they would be a perfect inclusion in those packs, especially for building and customizing characters.
In the press release, they mentioned a CMF series that will be available this fall. That might scratch that itch for smaller sets (that about as small as a set gets lol)! It would probably be useful for making custom characters too.
I’m definitely looking forward to that - I do hope they continue the theme beyond that though. Modular dungeons/buildings that you could put together to make your own world/map for a campaign would be amazing
@@BricksByMind That would be awesome- Lego Ideas has already helped start MInecraft, sitcom sets, and a new wave of medieval builds! Why not D&D as well?
It leaked weeks ago :D Its very good!
@@BricksByMindyeah I want a dragon player
As a professional Illustrator I actully entered the contest for the cover design of this set, and saw all the other submissions as well, while I am not a big fan of the cover that won, (there where 3 other people I think did a much better job) seeing this set about to launch is soo cool. The over all build is astounding and much better than the original submission for this set as well, I'm a big fan of that dragon too. And while the original submission dragon was green, I submitted a red dragon for the instructions, while I didn't win, it is cool that the dragon look pretty close to my dragon in the submission. Super cool set overall, love the level of detail.
I got severely severely disappointed by a dumb music video so now I’m watching high quality content that’s actually good
What music?
@@Regeor well the issue was that it has talking in the middle of the song which is basically the digital equivalent of the band members shouting and screaming whilst the singer is singing completely nearly drowning the singer out
@@realbiggestlegofanconnor7007 What song though?
@@Regeor top 10 mysteries of all time
@@Regeorthe world may never know….
I wish the parts of this set were separate sets and could be connected together as a gimmick that way I could get the dragon without paying $360 for the whole set
For me the worst part is that dragon build 😢
Yeah if I could pay like a quarter of the price for the dragon alone I would consider it pricey but I would be willing to do it
man, not they didn't just give a head with a male and female face, they gave a male and female head and hair for each! i totally agree that i WANT a DND theme
Great review! Incredible attention to detail and good pacing. Being a fan of D&D makes reviewing this even better too; so many people who got this set early didn't give it the love the set deserves. I was really on the fence after watching several reviews but yours has convinced me to get it!
Awakened Tree: Huge Plant, Unaligned. An awakened tree is an ordinary tree given sentience and mobility by the awaken spell or similar magic. While the tree remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal tree.
The open nature area is my favorite part and the biggest draw for me
I’m not even a D&D fan and I think this set is amazing
I made a spreadsheet (because I could) about the Minifigure and Accessory combos in the set, with 75 potential minifigures (including the Bartender / Dragon Cultist in the different races intended for Player Characters) and 49 accessories (unless I missed any in the set) and I figured out you could get 3675 combinations of characters from the set with the different accessories
My favorite LEGO sets is the entire wave of Ninjago Master of the Mountain. So of course I'd be fond of this set, too! This set gives me Master of the Mountain feelings! Finally!
Thank you for taking the time to go through this set in such detail. I feel many reviewers are not paying as much attention. That is fine to have many save time, but it is great you are a review that gives the time to the details for those who want to spend the time.
I still think, years later, the best brick built dragon available to the mass market was the Mega Construx Drogon from their GoT line. That thing was solid, good articulation, and looked the part while still having brick built charm. Its wings could fold in and out! Mega Construx did not get the credit it deserved when they were trying and it is sad to this day.
It may be releasing on April fools, but this ain’t no joke
All that they put in this set plus the downright beautiful details is amazing.
The man who made d&d: people are opening chests too fast
The results: one of the most iconic parts in d&d
I loved this set so much! This was a great set especially I'm a fan of Dungeons and Dragons. I also love you are the first one to fully review this set. Love the channel and the set!
I really hope they make more dnd sets, like one with a purple worm or a build that takes place in the underdark
Wow that's fast😮
Your short peaked my interest. You got yourself a new subscriber
yeah ive watched a couple reviews on this set so far, and yours stands above the rest❤
I think you are supposed to balance the dragon on its front legs, and make sure that the dragon's tail is wrapped around the tower. To get it in the position that is advertised. Cause pics you can see that it's weight front heavy and leaning forward. Just an observation.
Such a tempting set to get honestly.
That. Looks. AMAZING!!! Im definitely getting this set 😁
The upside down fern is used the same way on the tranquil garden set! Great set just built with my wife last week
I’m pretty sure the reason they didn’t include alternate faces for the orc rouge is because they can have their hood up or down since that’s how hoods work
Man that set looks so good
I dont play dungeons and dragons, but this set looks really cool and interesting
I think a brick built face on a tree would be more subtle and cool
I also really want to get this set as I play DnD with my mates and it would be cool to combine two of my favourite things together
Wow,it’s amazing
Can’t wait to see how you “UpGrade” this already AWESOME Set 🤔 but I’m sure it will be INCREDIBLE 🥳🥳 love the channel
Its actually a good thing the rogue orc doesnt come with a second face! When you swap around the races, the orc is the only one without a hairpiece. So you can pop it on the fighter and it still looks good. And the fighter still can easily wear the hood from the rogue
That looks really cool
I love it
Probably someone already pointed this out, but the beholder is a reference to Large Luigi, a friendly beholder who has a tavern, and also its appearence looks kinda of a mix between large luigi and xanathar, and that's probably them just making a cool looking beholder
Lovely set, love the prints (this is the first review that talked about the 2x1 tiles being prints). Price is still a too high, but it's a good set and shows what can be done well with prints and what not. I thin they could have made prints for those dragon nexo knight shields as well though, they are everywhere in the castle. 100% purchase on discount, but I won't miss it for sure.
You're the best lego youtuber keep up the fantastic work
This set looks amazing. That dragon is probably one of the best Lego has done.
BricksByMind your so flippin AWESOME 🥳
I’m glad the master of the mountain armor is still around. Also, wouldn’t it have been cool if the orc rogue used the cape from the falconer from series 24?
There will be a gift with purchase set, that will be a mimic chest dice holder, so if any set will come with dice that will probably be it.
I really like this set. Untill now, I've only played one short run of DnD in the past. After reading this book included with the set, I think that they used it on a really cool way. How would you rate this adventure ignoring the fact that it is made out of Legos?
The spiral stairs could also be a trap where if the players tried to go up the stairs the stairs would close up making them fall back fown
Ok, this set looks amazing. The dragon is probably the best I have ever seen. Looks very proper like like in drawings and media.
Also I thought this is interesting, but the hair piece for the Elf Wizard looks like Elora’s from Spyro. Its just looks it
Amazing set. The dreamzz sword recolor actually isn't new, its in the cmf 25 for the barbarian, which i've got 2 off. I love that sword piece. And the bad guy's cape is a recolor of the red orc cape from cmf 24. Which i also have 2 off. I love the set, the figs are fenomenal and the dragon is great.
Oh whoops, I didn’t get any of the January CMF 😅
This looks like a $300 set at best. Lion Knights Castle is similar in size but fully enclosed, contains a lot more minifigs and only $40 more. At the very least they could have included the hard copy booklet.
Can we use the set as a display too, like with the Dragon Stone Shrine from Dragon Rising s2?
If you have the space. I would personally put it on a cheese turntable. So you can have a 360 view
As a HUGE fan of dragons, I really want to see more of the D&D dragons in Lego. Maybe even a whole collection of the Chromatic Dragons! (Maybe once they all came out, we could get like, alternate build instructions to make Tiamat? They did a four headed dragon in Ninjago three times, I'm sure adding one more head wouldn't be too complicated.)
In an ideal world, every dragon type in D&D would get made.
What is the weight of this set?
Omg, this wasnt a gag by Lego for April Fool's?! Well, color me surprised. I will be picking this set up as soon as i can.
How many bags are there?
I might make it bigger when I get it
It will be nice if LEGO does more D&D sets especially dragons which it might happen if this set does well just like Rivendell
This set is sick but it costs so much… the minifigs are so cool tho
The the Dreamzzz broadsword really a new color? I could have sworn it’s the same as the CMF Barbarian from January
This set is my new favorite Lego set of all time sadly i probs won’t be able to afford it lol
If they can fit neatly beside the Inn piece for THIS set...maybe you could add some parts from other sets from Lego (ex. the Green Dragon Inn from the Hobbit Lego set.)
I also think you could use other figures from previous sets to diversify your cast of classes and characters. That is, until Lego decides to add more OFFICIAL D&D races to this one. One example I can think of is maybe using some figures from the Chima series as some D&D races or maybe take the head part of a horse off and add a "humanoid" torso to the flank (thus creating your own centaur)
I think the shrine with the Ninjago hilts is a reference to Tiamat the evil Dragon Goddess.
Also I believe that the sword is from the barbarian in the recent cmf.
@@jamesreilly5905yes it is
I see so much potential to expand this. Like the boat/ship at the dock, more dungeon/terrain sections on the other side, more towers and creatures could be built. Fantastic set, just a bit expensive.
I agree - I would love a modular system of sets that add on to this and each other
@@BricksByMindIsnt that the plan according to the expansion options in the book for the finished party?
I know what I am getting for my birthday 🥳
This set reminds me of lego Castle Dragon Mountain set
The Lute was in a Disney Wish set last year too
More D&D LEGO Sets or more than one CMF Series 🤞 outside of the September release
I bought it because I’ve been obsessed with Baldurs gate 3. I’ve never played actual D&D
Is there a way for the characters to access the second floor of the Inn?
Not in the model. But in the ways of dnd. Its more of a battlemap/visualiser.
Iiiii neeeeeed itttt
let me know if there is a gameplay video
The lute was actually used in the lion knights castle
Is anyone else having the problem of the windows in the tavern door not fitting into the door ??? It like does not come close to fitting
Try inserting from other side
The Dreamzzz sword the skeleton is holding is not new it came in the Barbarian from Minifigure series 25.
49:02 I don’t think that’s a new recolour, it came with a minifigure in series 25
At 48:18 did anyone else notice his hand slipped off the elf wizard's hair piece and then it cut to the hair piece being off.
Omg you build it so fast! Did you even got some sleep? 😮
He's had it for a while.
The villians look like the Time Twins from Ninjago S7.
You seemed to miss or just didn't point out that on the bridge we see more of the symbol of the cult of the dragon
Spine of the world is that a weel of time reference
Imagine putting this next to the Ninjago sets as a coincidence
Make it 80 bucks cheaper and take my money
Actually the lego staircase was first included in tge older lego harry potter sets from the early 2000s
I think is might be more great, if you mix and combine with the Lego ninjago ss13 sets. Basically they both about dungeon 😉
That’s not the classic ninja wings those wings on the dragon, those were actually a lot bigger with a different connection
I literally got my dwarf made the Lego lol 😂😂😂
I will use the Dragon born as my caricter
Would love different variations and colors
Okay so legitimate question; would I enjoy this set as someone who has no interest in D&D *but* absolutely loves Dragons and good lego offerings of dragons; and loves castles and fantasy/medieval themes. I feel like I really want this set
I think so! D&D is inherently kinda generic fantasy, because it’s meant to be tuned to the DM’s liking. Most of this set works as just generic fantasy, a few of the creatures are the only things in set that are D&D specific
Thanks for the reply! @BricksByMind I also watched on after commenting only to realise that you answered it in the video hehe oops :D
the dreams sword came in the most recent cmf series with the vampire knight (basil the batlord remake)
Nope. Came with the barbarian woman
The stairs Originate in the Harry Potter 21:27
That dragon kinda looks like the legacy fire dragon
Me to lego after watching this: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!
Now we need a elder scrolls set
I wish that Lego could sell the dragon separately
Beholder as a brick build creature is fine, but the owlbear should have been a mold. Displacer beast could easily have been a mold as well. For me this set is to expensive for what it is.
Enjoyable review.... but you missed the fourth skeleton...💀😳😅❤
The fourth skeleton is the one inside the gelatinous cube
That sword.was.in the new cmf
This set is a day one buy for me. Can not wait for april!!!
hrm i feel like the more reviews i see of this the more I'm unsure if I want it. It's a cool set and all and I love dnd but it seems like its much more made to play rather than display which while I also love legos and don't play with them (unless you consider building playing)
24:22 godzilla reference

If this set was $260 I would be all over it but $360 just seems like too much when for $140 more, you could get the LoTR Rivendell or Barad Dur sets and you'd easily get twice as much value than the D&D set.
