I feel like he took that form on purpose to make fun of us; like up until The New War he could only appear as a reflection of is current observer, but after the events of TNW he was finally able to take his own "true" form where he made the epithet we gave him literal rather than metaphorical.
@@mr.cobalt1668 That would really fit as many of the theories I've seen have talked about how Wally could just be a reflection of those that are unique that have entered the void. So making his true form based on our perception of him would fit with that.
Ballas definitely needs his own video. Our abusive space uncle is probably the most important villain in the game next to Wally and actually has his story completed, unlike most other villains.
And the ending was the best part of his story by far. If it'd been between ending him or forever defeating Wally, I'd give Wally his finger(s) back just so he can put Ballas down in every single timeline. That guy made The Indifference seem chill... Thank the Void and everything in it he never got a podcast.
@@corgthemighty idk My lads are so dumb sometimes Seriusly who the hell go near a ongoing orbital strike and stand there still Maybe we can beat it with our stupidity If its a no.... Well i think we are done

@@ParagonGoetiaw h a t? Actually i would be very happy if u could explain that scene where the tenno shook hands with wally and more tennos appeared that started dying?
@CertifiedForklifter so all of the you that took the deal. Wally killed off. Leaving only 1 of you. Immortal and unkillable. The other older you was the other choice. Or never even given the option. But the void still can be molded with emotion and imagination. Older you probably might of went mad as a kid and created the duviri and forgetting it. Now the duviri is made from the void but it was created to be a safe space from the void. Cuz of story reasons young you were out of commission. So wally did his thing and looked around to find a you that survived without taking the deal. Found older you in an endless loop of death and (in the most literal sense) gave you a hand to break the loop. Once you were out wally used older you as an anchor to bring back young you. That's why you can start the game with older you off the bat. It's you but with a slightly different start but in the end linked to younger you through the deal. Now in one major story you play as older you but no powers. Why? I think older you needed a jump start to link to your young self. That jump start came as a concentrated void beam about to atomize older you. You didn't get hit but the amount of energy so and so was blasting out was enough to finally save both the yous.
@@CertifiedForklifter When the tenno made the deal with Wally, all other versions of reality where the tenno existed got destroyed, besides 2, The one where the Tenno took the deal (Our reality), and the one where the tenno did not (Drifter/ Duviri reality).
@@corgthemighty Yeah, I haven't been playing warframe for the longest so I wasn't here for that message, but when you brought it up I was like "Oh...were cooked..."
As players, we know for certain of the location of two of Wally fingers. Both located in Reliquary Drives - on the players Railjack and on the Zariman Ten-Zero, the latter best seen during Void Armageddon missions. Now, during talks between Cavalero and Archimedean Yonta onboard Zariman, they discuss the 'finger-relics', wondering how many are left - and Yonta says: "Fewer than there used to be. So long as the originals are safely sealed away of course." Which would imply Orokin somehow learned to copy the cut off fingers in order to create Reliquary Drives for more than just a few ships - makes sense, the Orokin Empire hardly operated on only 5 ships. Which opens interesting questions. Is either Zariman or Railjack finger the original? Wally seemed very interested in the finger aboard the Railjack, and in multiple voicelines implied player-Tenno can give the finger back to him, but it seems odd for something this important to be located on a random Railjack. On the other hand, it would make sense for original finger to be aboard Zariman - it was a massively important project for the Orokin, and assumption genuine fingers are more potent than copies and thus neccesary for a ship of this size is not far-fetched, and the Reliquary of Zariman is endlessly assaulted by Void Angels. But then, why pay any interest to the finger inside the Railjack. That, in my view, gives us three distinct possibilities. First - one is genuine, and the interest in the other is a bluff. Second - Neither of the fingers is the original, and Wally trying to get them is a bluff distracting us while He is searching for genuine article. Third, and my preferred - all of them are genuine. The copy-fingers were created utilizing the Void phenomenon of conceptual embodiment, by which new fingers that are just as 'rea'l as the originals may exist. As such, Wally - a creature born of conceptual embodiment himself - just need a finger, any finger, and it will work. Whether or not it would collapse the 'concept' of the finger in physical reality and other copies would cease to exist or regaining the finger would allow Him to pinpoint the copies so he can destroy them, fully and utterly unanchoring himself from linear time, one can only guess.
yeah, but do remember the Zariman void jump failure was not an accident... would the orokin be foolish enough to send the true finger right back to Wally? perhaps the entity itself does not know which one is real (the creator of the fingers is probably dead, so as to not risk information leak or mind reading), then it would make more sense to refer to them all as digits, in plural
I think the drive on the Zariman ten zero is an original since it looks like an actual finger and the zariman was such an important ship I doubt the orokin would use experimental tech on such an important mission. And the one on the railjack is a copy because it seems to be like a blob of void energy and railjacks were mass produced at the time of the old war.
@@Amcardtitanconsider in the railjacks the reliquary drive is quite small so all that void energy surrounds the finger and obscures it. I think it’s plausible to put an original on a rail jack because it’s a Tenno ship, there probably isn’t a safer place to keep something like that.
6:39 The devs confirmed the Vitruvian Man carving form the Man in the Wall takes is just like any other form it takes, a facade for the purpose of intimidating or unsettling its audience, but it seems to be a "general form," as you can also see its face overlooking the Sanctum Anatomica from beyond the broken in wall ledge, and beneath the Void Angel mindspace arena in one corner, observing.
From how the Wally acts and talks, seems like just a scientist that discovers a new element. You want to pick and prod at, study the very limits of what you can do to it. See all its reactions and of course not destroy any of it you can't recover. However for Wally having these fingers in our realm ties him to time, like nailing down a kite in a tornado. Sure the kite may fly off and the string snaps but hat string left on that nail tells of where the kite was and always would've been. So that also means somewhere around 1999 is when Wally first got trapped in time unable to go back or forward beyond Rell and the Labs.
Given the Necralisk logs imply Albrecht was the first mortal he made contact with and mirrored, the notion of Wally being like a scientist makes an alarming amount of sense.
I don't know about the rest of you guys but I fought Wally was the physical manifestation of the void. I thought he was like the void itself talking to us like for example, when you go to rail Jack and interact with the engine. While he says remember you're nothing without me kiddo, so I always assumed Wally was the boy itself. I never knew there was so much mysterious stuff around him. It she I don't know the voids pronouns but yeah
@@grimrobot2059Basically Wally IS the manifestation of the void, but because the void can mimick anything it makes contact with, and Albrecht was the first to contact it, the void turned into Wally(copy of Albrecht) with every memory and emotion that Albrecht has ever felt. And because Wally’s first contact was an Orokin scientist, he too has a desire for anything he is curious about(albeit he HAS to be curious about it). Which is why he says “hey kiddo” whenever he spooks us. I’m not sure who it was but someone used to call the Tenno “Kiddo” and Wally too has access to that memory. Super fucking cool concept honestly.
@@OK-qj9lw so it's not the void itself, but it's like a creature of the void, a person who shape-shifts into anybody they talk to. I understanded the shape-shifting part but thanks for explaining it to me. I appreciate it. They are really cool. Also, I think they're fingers power the rail jacks? Correct me if I'm wrong
One thing about Wally's interactions with the world that i find interesting is the fact that the infestation is not only aware of it, but is afraid and actively attempts to hide from it. I feel like even the (potentially) solar system wide hive mind being afraid of something is a good indicator of just how dangerous it is.
Honestly whats incredible and scary is that, you dont see devs out there have a baddie in the making that actually influences your gameplay at every step of the way by involving in the crucial process of the gameplay development itself. Its like the devs also made a deal with Wally to let him into our universe as well!
My favorite interpretation/theory about Wally's actions & behavior is actually Birb 3's, from the Cavia syndicate. I can't find text for it anywhere (or I haven't looked in the right places) but at one point I got a line of dialogue from them saying that they thought Wally was like a very big, powerful child that just wants to play with the other kids but doesn't know *how*. Given that Wally's first interaction (that we know of) with anyone in the origin system consisted of him mimicking Albrecht Entrati's appearance, smiling creepily at him, and then trying to follow him back out of the void and getting his finger(s) chopped off for his efforts, and the rest of his subsequent appearances have been him trying to interact with people and leave the void, I think Bird 3's theory isn't that far off from the truth. That on top of the cutscene at the end of the whispers in the walls update, with Wally expressing frustration about how the Tenno aren't upholding their end of their bargain with him, kinda makes me think Wally's intentions were innocent at first (or at least not outright malicious), and the constant rejection afterwards + losing his fingers didn't leave him with a great impression of the folks in the Origin system.
I wouldn't be too quick to differentiate the "great indifference" as a place separate from Wally just yet... I wouldn't put it past an eldritch entity to also *be* the place as well. Kinda like how the meaty lattice of flesh shared across all the infested lifeforms is all part of a single hive-minded body of sorts, so is probably Wally's alien realm also a sort of manifestation of his physical body, with all the little murmur creatures being his antibodies and white cells. That's probably why he couldn't physically manifest and take over the Origin System before all the things that weakened his shackles in the void started happening through the story: _his actual physical form is unfathomably gigantic and alien,_ so much that we can just walk and parkour inside it like we're Osmosis Jones. Wally is having trouble forcing all of himself into the Origin System because it's like trying to push a big plush toy through the tiny neck of a water bottle. Edit: Of note is how Corrupted Vor now has a dialogue line about how "a wall of *bone* awaits his joining" when fighting him in the Undercroft, which is part of what makes me see Wally that way. You know all those oddly-colored stone structures and sand in that eldritch realm that is slowly taking over Albrecht's laboratories? Yeah, that's probably not just stone and sand...
E) Given how the Indifference fucks with time and the mechanics by which Eternalism work, it could be that, rather than Wally losing multiple digits on his hand, *multiple Wallies* each lost a single digit.
I think Wally heard his name as "The Man in the Wall" as a deep metaphor for his nature from these funny bipedal mortals, and immediately told himself "It would be really funny and freak them out if I showed myself to them as an actual Man half stuck in a Wall". To which the Tenno Wally would immediately agree as he is that much of a gremlin.
Feel like Wally is such a a good way to raise the stakes after the New War. He doesn't feel like a villain they shoehorned for the sake of a larger world ending threat. He's been lingering in the background for years, and slowly but surely has made itself a bigger and bigger threat as the mystery unravels.
I agree! And I love how Ballas' actions directly lended him even more power in an understandable way that allows him to take that spotlight effectively.
And the Danta Unbound pretty much comfirmed a theory we had for a while that even Parvos Granum has a deal with Wally... Not only that but Druses even tells you that Parvos can ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND VOID TONGUE?! Not even Albrecht can!
That would explain why he was untouched for all those centuries. You know, being smack dab in the middle of a void. Maybe Parvo and the void entity came to an Accord. After that, they just start chatting each other up. Or maybe the void always had how was been with Parvos. Ever since his Farm Boy days.
With how the Void seems to give physical form to thoughts and feelings and how the Orokin knew that Names gave power to things i can see why it'd want to be known plus there's that line from that one NPC that goes something like "Big Al looked into the void and was scared shitless" Thus my take becomes: Wallie is the physical embodiment of the Fear born from the very far reaches of whatever one of the Orokin's most prized scientist could imagine. lemme put it this way: if HP Lovecraft made contact with the void/wallie prolly nothing big would've happened because he lacked the scientific knowledge to precisely imagine the innerworkings of an Eldritch being, plus the very nature of his work went against it. Lovecraft COULD feel fear and have the void make his fear manifest, but Entrati? he *knew* shit. He knew enough to precisely imagine how horrendously absurd and powerful this entity he encountered was and so THAT mental image is what the void/wallie used to come into existence: The culmination of Orokin knowledge through the lens of fear and immortalized in physical form. Infinity within boundaries, Non-existence given flesh contained by the very far extremes of logical perception and given purpose through the same means. Fear can only have a hold over you if you recognize its existence, and oh boy did Big Al recognize he done diddly did fucketh up that day.
9:16 When he mentioned that he needed one more finger, I realized something. . . Don't we have a giant finger in our railjack? The one at the back of the ship. . . I think were cooked.
Now imagine Wally can control ALL RAILJACKS for another war. So it’s gonna be us, grineer ,corpus, infested, sentient, and the rest of the universe against the man in the wall himself.
just letting you know all the original digits were sealed away, all the ones we see ig are replicas as mentioned in the zariman. I'm of the belief that one hand of the doppelganger only equates to a single finger of the whole man in the wall.
It's an interesting poetic justice in how we excluded Rell for his ASD (coded or otherwise) to then be treated the same after the Zairman. Cause up until Chains of Harrow we, Tenno, had been more or less the victim. Learning how we were essentially bullying a kid because he's neurodivergent gave me a bit of emotional whiplash. Considering Rell wasn't the one who made the deal either but had to suffer alone because - once again - we excluded him makes me view the shit we have to go through now as a bit of a redemption for what we've done. The fact that Rell also protected us for years, sacrificing his body and mind to keep basically a God away is a hell of a debt to pay. Granted, none of this would've happened had the Orokin not been Orokining as they did, but that doesn't excuse being mean to Rell. I mean, we offered a light to the thing tormenting us now but we couldn't be nice to a kid with sensory issues. The irony that Rell was probably the only one of us who actually had a chance to take on The Indifference on a way more level playing field had he had the support is kinda funny tho..
I want to see a timeline where Rell wasn't turned away and allowed to grow his strength even more to a point where he could actually take on Wally cause damn that fight would be legendary. But yeah, his story is definitely tragic, and the fact that some in the community don't know it is something I hope I can help with.
@@corgthemighty lol I imagine Wally getting more and more frustrated over not getting a reaction from Rell meanwhile Rell becomes more and more overstimulated until he just smites Wally to get some peace and quiet. Being neurodivergent myself playing the game is fine but I'd lose my shit 2 seconds into dealing with Wally.

In the new war, when you see the actual man in the actual wall, you can actually see that he is missing at least one finger. One of his fingers is sort of cut off, and a void like energy spills out of where the finger would be on his hand.
I do enjoy peppering the skits in given that they typically come and go pretty quick, still convey info, and allow me to vary up the pacing so its not just all me talking directly to you guys!
Something really boggles my mind and gives me chills is the fact that the Infestation (the techno virus that can eat PLANETS if left unchecked) is canonically AFRAID of Wally During the days before the launch of the Whispers In The Walls update there was a new page in Warframe's official site that showed us a conversation between Nora Night and that one Corpus stuck on Deimos collecting samples that we have to defend on bounties. This Corpus knows Deimos's fauna like the back of his hand and he tells us that the Infestation looks afraid and is trying to not stand out, as well repeated knocking this Corpus guy keeps hearing in his dreams. That whole bit freaked me the fuck out and I loved it
That makes sense. The Labs are right underneath them, so the Infestation can sense the Murmur breaking through. But does the other Infested out on Eris sense it right now? After 1999, it looks like they will.
Newish player here...I was caught off guard when doing a Deimos bounty when Otak suddenly called me "kiddo"...I wonder if there's some secret connection hmmm
If I may submit my theory as to why The Man in The Wall is missing many fingers while we only ever see him missing one finger, I think one of the Requiem Mods is key. The Mod in question is *"OULL",* the wild card of the set. Like the other Requiem Mods, *"OULL"* has a Requiem Poem fragment attached to it. Unlike the other Poem fragments, however, this one appears to be a prelude or post-script fragment as putting it anywhere else in the Poem itself breaks its flow. The fragment reads, "From endless faces, countless forms, a multitude unfolds." My theory then is that it was not just one Man in The Wall who lost his right index finger but multiple Men in The Wall who all lost their right index fingers at the same time when Euleria Entrati slammed the Untime Door shut on their hand after her father gave the command. And while it's possible the Orokin were able to replicate the Indifferent Façade of The Man in The Wall to make even more fingers, that may have made even more Men in The Wall as a consequence. Now then... *WHERE ARE MY FINGER-BONES, KIDDO?*
Love the theory and the knowledge of the Requiem Words! You get extra credit for that lol. However, it also gives me the hilarious image of Euleria closing the portal, and suddenly a bunch of fingers from different timelines spawn out of the singular one getting cut off like a bunch of gmod ragdolls and everybody's just super confused. (And also, everyone may always submit their theories, it's half the fun [so long as a theory is not intentionally harmful or offensive])
Thank you! This video tickled my Loreframe brain in a big way so you could say that crafting these sorts of theories is somewhat up my alley. I also have to give props to TheDSiege (another Warframe Lore UA-camr that I follow) for putting the pieces in place for me to propose this theory in the first place.
8:57 longtime Warframe player here, in the story of Albrecht, Wally only lost 1 (one) finger, however, in the Zariman, Yonta mentions that apparently, the finger(s) can replicate, and that some, such as the fingers powering the Zariman and the the player's Railjack, are mere copies, since "the originals" are safely locked away
As a potential UA-camr I have to say your lore explanations are very good...but also I has a question (from a chaotic lad) how did your character become a loremaster in training?
Why thank you! If you're asking for the in-lore reason as for why my character became a loremaster-in-training, as far as they remember they simply had a love of storytelling and eventually drew the eye of the Loremasters. Definitely nothing lying beneath the surface that I plan on revealing later 😉
Eh i dont think that "taking better care of the solar system" wouldve helped that much, it was basically inevitable that the Orokin empire wouldve grown big enough that at some point there wouldnt be enough resources in the Solar system to sutain it. It wouldve delayed it yeah but not solved the problem forever. Now if Albrechts void shield hadnt been fucking obliterated looney toons style before falling into the portal they mightve been able to use the void without having to deal with this Eldritch abomination Also Rell basically not being mentioned ever again after Chains of Harrow is a crime
Big Al should've eaten a sandwich before going in, maybe he wouldn't have stumbled as easily. (Also yes, I hope in the future we get a voiceline from Wally basically pulling a Scooby Doo villain saying "And I would've gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for that meddling Rell")
words cannot describe how fast i put down everything i was doing while listening to this like a podcast after it was mentioned that they made cross play a lore point and that WALLY is the reason why.
9:07 maybe it's something like the operator and the drifter they exist in the present and the future at the same time but only one of them, so because the finger exist in the present he can't just pop up and make a mess and also there's a big finger stuck in the railjack
Don't forget a lore tidbit that the very infestation itself is staying subtle and seemingly trying to stay docile when an energy wave that comes from the void had happened for everytine void related quests were done (source taken by nora night) , correct me if I'm wrong though) the infestation, one of the factions that is the most concerning should it let it be, is *afraid*
You missed out on one piece of man in the wall lore that might shine a light into what his goals are. Dante's encounter with the man in the wall. For those that don't want to be spoiled. Go to the Leverian with a rank 30 Dante and enter his entry. Navigate all the way to the end and get his Plex card. Druse will then explain how Dante died and that his killer was the man in the wall. For those that want to know what the man in the wall wants. Existence. "It teaches because it longs to be known, and in being known it exists. And in existing, it survives."
Wally is basically an eldritch god that lives on a similar concept to “I think therefore I am” the more people it can get it’s hooks into and manipulate the more power it gains which is its own can of worms cause Wally may not be outright malevolent but it sure isn’t benevolent either
This is great stuff man! been following the series for a long time. I’ve been playing warframe non stop since 2017 and you break down the lore in an easy to understand way!
With the theory that he is getting his finger back slowly makes sence and it doesn’t help that the railjack has the last one so he gets to our railjacks we lose this.
So a man who is essentially an eldritch god with control over the Void, where he resides, makes deals with people he finds interesting, and he has funky eyes. Wally is Dishonored's Outsider!
6:37 you can see in the second right hand he is missing one finger, however in all instances I have seen in game the finger only appears twice (well 2x infinite ) one as a railjack and zermin i think a void drive that allowed void jump , in the start of the zermin quest and the first time you see the finger it was mentioned that there were multiple but as long as the originals are safe everything will be fine
Wally: Hey Kiddo. Me: Get your feet of the furniture. Dont stand there. Sit up straight. Dont hand from those cables. Get away from the Helminth's room!
Wally: Would you shake my hand will you shake this old poor sinners hand. Tenno: *shakes hand* Wally: I’m now your friend on the other side. Maybe it depends on the day and how I feel kiddo.
excellent lore video! Warframe has such a deep, complex, interconnected lore that even trying to piece it together is quite the task. I'm hoping with Warframe 1999 and Jade Shadows we finally get some more answers.
In the lore it said that the first finger that he lost when albrecht entrati closed the portal on him multiplied and the copies were used to power variety of thing. For example the railjacks.
Something I absolutely love about him is the fact that not only is he seemingly responsible for our very existence, but that he also seems to intend on taking us back. That for some reason or another, not only are the reliquary drives important, but we are important. Sure, there are other tenno out there but why does he seem to be actively hounding us? Besides the fact that we are just the main character, it seems like We have our own special power, our own special trait that makes the player character different from every other tenno
With the introduction of the "Lotus eaters" flaming 5 minutes adventure, it does seem that our dual existence on both escaping and not escaping the Void is our special trait. We exist both inside and outside the void at the same time and can freely change between timelines without real consequences. So maybe that is what IT wants. A dual existence so he can freely wreck havoc across the physical realm without leaving the conceptual space that the Void is.
I understand wally finger being something like its really just one finger but existing in different places at the same time. That's why we normally get mentions of fingerS in plural but for wally he just lost one finger
The man in the wall sounds like the outsider from the Dishonored franchise... also a mysterious figure from the void that grant powers to people he finds "interesting "
Oh my god I just realized that Rell probably dubbed the Indifference “The Man in the Wall” because he takes the form of any man he comes across and is LITERALLY INSIDE the Wall of Lohk.
I think it was Yonta who talked about "finger relics", someone asked how many are there, and she says "not as many as the used to be, something something, as long as the originals are safe" or similar
Dude i love your lore videos i thouhgt i knew warframe and these opened it up more i love the connections you make to toher series shows and games and i love how you use in game things as a way to explain stud like the " rap.. tap.. tap.." it was awesome love you dude you have to keep making more and remember "Excalibur was the first..."
My theory is that Wally is also prone to the effects of eternalism, and each time he loses a finger he jumps to a new timeline that hasn’t lost his finger. But the poor dummy keeps losing his damn fingers so now he needs to get them back so he can travel back to 99 to kill Albrecht. We know the locations of at least 2 fingers off the top of my head; one in the Zariman and one in our personal Railjack. So he has 100% definitely lost more than one.
There's actually a really simple explanation for Wally's missing digits coming back: we've seen a...handful...of them already. 1 is on the Zariman, which the void angels are trying to get at. It's a "reiliquary drive". During the "Angels of the Zariman", we learn that it also was targeted by the Grineer since it bleeds Kuva. 1 is on OUR railjack, powering it or at least allowing for void travel. If you go to the back of the ship, there's a large tomb-like thing that holds a massive finger. That's at least two of wally's fingers that have locations that we can actively observe. How he's getting them back is up for debate, but it's worth noting that both fingers are spots where the void is actively infringing on. The zariman's void angels and thrax means that the void is CONSTANTLY touching it. And since the other one is on our ship, and we are the new Rell, it means Wally has functionally free access to that finger as well.
i was always under the idea that Wally ultimate goal is to enter Realspace, as during all of his encounters he seems to be confined ot the void and entities that are voidtouched with the Tenno being his most scuessfull deal where he achieved what he failed ot do with Albrecht: getting an avatar ot influence Realspace(heavy implications that the Tenno's real body is in the void and we lay as is merely an avatar made from the Void itself) the digit issue seems to be the fact that while a piece of his true form exists in realspace Wally is confined ot experience time Linearly.
First, nice video, very informative and well done. Second, I've noted several bits of lore, in multiple places; that would seem to suggest that The Void is alive, and created all things, including The Man in the Wall. And the area that the Man in the Wall inhabits, is not actually the void at all, but rather-- it is an intermediary space between reality and the void. Also, I suspect that the Orokin were not evil at all. I actually think they were victims of The Man in the Wall, as he corrupted their minds, and turned them into the power hungry and environmentally unfriendly despots that we know them as today. And if that's true, then we can infer what "Wally's" intentions are-- namely, "Destroy Everything."
9:14 In my opinion, him losing multiple fingers during the portal closure had the effect of him losing A finger on his primary form. he’d need to recover all of his fingers to be whole again
This explains so much, thank you! I didn't understand what the hell was going on when my character had a weird creepy clone showing up on the ship. Now I know its just the local eldritch horror trying to crack into our reality.
A bit sad you didn't talked about the most known thing about him,his speech ! "VOULL NE XATA VOK, MARA LOHK?" Until recently we still didn't had a lot of clues about what it really was Still a great video of course, really hyped for the every warframes video coming up !
Honestly puts into perspective just how talented Rell was, and what a shame he had to go through that. He could've been one of the most powerful Warframe and void power wielders out there.
The reason for there being multiple mentions of the man in the wall losing fingers could be a result of there being alternate timelines. Since Wally is some eldritch void entity, it could exist at the same time, simultaneously-ish, in all those time lines. Maybe having lost fingers means that it lost them in different timelines, and it is trying to get them back in each time line to complete itself once more. There being different time lines is why we have different operators. While the one with void powers is the first we play, they end up somehow giving some of that power to the operator who did not have void powers, since that version did not make it off the Zariman due to not having made a deal with the man in the wall. Void powers being giving to another version of the operator from another timeline makes me think it isn't too far fetched for the man in the wall to not have made a deal with the tenno from the drifter universe (the operator that did not get void powers) since it might never have lost a finger in that timeline, hence why it does not really show up in that timeline. While in other timelines, it did show up multiple times. There's also the instance of there being a finger in the reliquary drive in one of the Zariman missions, as well as a finger in the Railjack used as a generator. So there are physically multiple digits of the man in the wall spread throughout the universe. Especially since a lot of tenno have a railjack powered by one of the digits. Alternate timelines could be the reason why the man in the wall is stated to be missing multiple digits while it seems to be missing only one.
"Maybe having lost fingers means that it lost them in different timelines, and it is trying to get them back in each time line to complete itself once more." i took thism ore inthel ines of, because he lost his finger at a specific point in time(when he encountered the Entrati) he lost this ability ot exist at all points in time and is now forced to experience time Linearly. This is probably the only limitation it still has andwhy his eal withthe Tenno is his biggest success.
My laptop broke some days ago and I havent been able to play warframe since. I have been avoiding all warframe videos since then to stop myself from missing it. Hey I know I’m late but I wanted to mention that a digit is a common term for each point of your fingers that bends. So when they say he’s lost multiple digits they’re referring to the one missing finger from his vitruvian man form.
I think whats going on with the plural fingers is that he lost finger but across multiple worlds. Hes confined to the strands of khra not THE strand of khra so it would make sense. Especially with duviri showing us resources from other worlds can be transfered, I think this is what happened
I wonder if it's all just a daydream or split timeline. When the operator is a kid sitting in the Zariman you are hearing about the idea of alternate timelines, then the void accident immediately happens, and you become the main character of your own little world. And later the NPC's in the Zariman, especially Archimedean Yonta, constantly make references to the idea that everything around them is a reality created through thoughts. Perhaps Warframe in itself is just the split timeline/daydream of a bored student in a classroom about to take an exam.
still can't believe that it was an actual man in the wall
I feel like he took that form on purpose to make fun of us; like up until The New War he could only appear as a reflection of is current observer, but after the events of TNW he was finally able to take his own "true" form where he made the epithet we gave him literal rather than metaphorical.
@@mr.cobalt1668 That would really fit as many of the theories I've seen have talked about how Wally could just be a reflection of those that are unique that have entered the void. So making his true form based on our perception of him would fit with that.
I mean Rell is autistic coded, makes sense he would be extremely literal.

So long as the originals are safely sealed away of course."
Which would imply Orokin somehow learned to copy the cut off fingers in order to create Reliquary Drives for more than just a few ships - makes sense, the Orokin Empire hardly operated on only 5 ships.
Whether or not it would collapse the 'concept' of the finger in physical reality and other copies would cease to exist or regaining the finger would allow Him to pinpoint the copies so he can destroy them, fully and utterly unanchoring himself from linear time, one can only guess.
yeah, but do remember the Zariman void jump failure was not an accident... would the orokin be foolish enough to send the true finger right back to Wally?
perhaps the entity itself does not know which one is real (the creator of the fingers is probably dead, so as to not risk information leak or mind reading), then it would make more sense to refer to them all as digits, in plural
isnt the finger in the railjacks, just a clone?
Good to know! Thank you for your contribution to the library.
@@corgthemightyto the librart or the leverian?
@@grimrobot2059 Yeah I’m pretty sure the fingers allow the Railjacks to warp long distances (like the Zariman was supposed to) and no problem!
One thing about Wally's interactions with the world that i find interesting is the fact that the infestation is not only aware of it, but is afraid and actively attempts to hide from it. I feel like even the (potentially) solar system wide hive mind being afraid of something is a good indicator of just how dangerous it is.
"I SAVED THEM. ALL OF THEM. NEVER SAID I'D SAVE YOU."
"You still owe me kiddo"
Hey don't tell them, don't tell your brothers and your sisters
Honestly whats incredible and scary is that, you dont see devs out there have a baddie in the making that actually influences your gameplay at every step of the way by involving in the crucial process of the gameplay development itself. Its like the devs also made a deal with Wally to let him into our universe as well!
You know too much. 🤫 But yeah, I agree, love how DE implements Wally's stuff.
So baby cthulu then...
Definitely get where you're coming from and thank you for the extra info!

E) Given how the Indifference fucks with time and the mechanics by which Eternalism work, it could be that, rather than Wally losing multiple digits on his hand, *multiple Wallies* each lost a single digit.
Our railjack is powered by a finger for hyperspace jumps through the void to get to various proxima missions, I'm concerned..
Can’t stress this enough. 😂 doesn’t cyphilon cy turn on after the finger is found?
Ever stood near the finger?
I think Wally heard his name as "The Man in the Wall" as a deep metaphor for his nature from these funny bipedal mortals, and immediately told himself "It would be really funny and freak them out if I showed myself to them as an actual Man half stuck in a Wall". To which the Tenno Wally would immediately agree as he is that much of a gremlin.
I can't wait for Red Text to turn out to be wally
Would be really funny because just before the Citrine update, Red Text spoke about the gemussy.
@@KhezuOnYourScreen how would the player base ever forget the Gemussy re text.
Not outright that he can understand it, only that he's heard him speak it. Possibly under compulsion of Wally.
Pavos is just HIM, that's how chad he is.
awe hell naw. Don't tell me we might have to team up with that hooligan just because he can speak parseltongue 🙃
*Parvos on his way to way to big-brain the interplanetary chess game*
That would explain why he was untouched for all those centuries. You know, being smack dab in the middle of a void. Maybe Parvo and the void entity came to an Accord. After that, they just start chatting each other up. Or maybe the void always had how was been with Parvos. Ever since his Farm Boy days.
If he has time based powers, his finger probably fell into multiple places in the same timeline
Exactly! Then he is constantly trying to get to 1999 because that's a crucial part to complete his finger.
With how the Void seems to give physical form to thoughts and feelings and how the Orokin knew that Names gave power to things i can see why it'd want to be known
plus there's that line from that one NPC that goes something like "Big Al looked into the void and was scared shitless"
Thus my take becomes: Wallie is the physical embodiment of the Fear born from the very far reaches of whatever one of the Orokin's most prized scientist could imagine.
lemme put it this way: if HP Lovecraft made contact with the void/wallie prolly nothing big would've happened because he lacked the scientific knowledge to precisely imagine the innerworkings of an Eldritch being, plus the very nature of his work went against it.
"I probably have mommy issues!"
Don't we all, in more ways than one... 😭
9:16 When he mentioned that he needed one more finger, I realized something. . . Don't we have a giant finger in our railjack? The one at the back of the ship. . . I think were cooked.
The reliquary drives of all the ships use clones of the finger but so they have some residual power that’s why the Tenno can hear Wally near the drive
Now imagine Wally can control ALL RAILJACKS for another war.
So it’s gonna be us, grineer ,corpus, infested, sentient, and the rest of the universe against the man in the wall himself.

Something really boggles my mind and gives me chills is the fact that the Infestation (the techno virus that can eat PLANETS if left unchecked) is canonically AFRAID of Wally
During the days before the launch of the Whispers In The Walls update there was a new page in Warframe's official site that showed us a conversation between Nora Night and that one Corpus stuck on Deimos collecting samples that we have to defend on bounties. This Corpus knows Deimos's fauna like the back of his hand and he tells us that the Infestation looks afraid and is trying to not stand out, as well repeated knocking this Corpus guy keeps hearing in his dreams.
That whole bit freaked me the fuck out and I loved it
Something even entirely artificial creatures instinctively fear, like being afraid of the dark, Dr who type stuff.
That makes sense. The Labs are right underneath them, so the Infestation can sense the Murmur breaking through.
But does the other Infested out on Eris sense it right now?
After 1999, it looks like they will.

Conceptually embodied timelines is crazy.
The fragment reads, "From endless faces, countless forms, a multitude unfolds."
My theory then is that it was not just one Man in The Wall who lost his right index finger but multiple Men in The Wall who all lost their right index fingers at the same time when Euleria Entrati slammed the Untime Door shut on their hand after her father gave the command.
You showed up in my recommended, and now im a subscriber. I love the Internet.

nothing else to say other than worth the wait
Aww thank you so much!!! Nothing else to say other than thank you for watching!
Isnt that finger on my railjack?
The main finger was replicated to power every Tenno's Railjack, Zariman, etc. So the finger in our ship isn't the original one
Now if Albrechts void shield hadnt been fucking obliterated looney toons style before falling into the portal they mightve been able to use the void without having to deal with this Eldritch abomination
Also Rell basically not being mentioned ever again after Chains of Harrow is a crime
9:07 maybe it's something like the operator and the drifter they exist in the present and the future at the same time but only one of them, so because the finger exist in the present he can't just pop up and make a mess
and also there's a big finger stuck in the railjack
Hmm, an interesting find, thank you for your contribution to the library!
I'm glad to hear it! I love that my videos can help entertain both people that have been around for a bit, and newcomers to the game.
I think the eternal relic in the zariman is his last finger.
Deeming that the void angels fight tooth and nail to get to it.
i was under the impression that wally only lost one finger, but the entrati used orokin biotechnology to clone it to make a bunch for the void drives
With the theory that he is getting his finger back slowly makes sence and it doesn’t help that the railjack has the last one so he gets to our railjacks we lose this.
You can see Wally's missing fingers when he appears to give his speech at the end of the new war
Love how Wally's just the rebellious teen here lol
I'd wager the reason why Wally is doing anything, is because he's confined to the void, and he doesn't like that.
Wally: Would you shake my hand will you shake this old poor sinners hand.
Tenno: *shakes hand*
Wally: I’m now your friend on the other side. Maybe it depends on the day and how I feel kiddo.
Tenno: Why does your hand feel weird? Oh! You're missing a finger.
“I saved them. All of them. Never said I’d save you”
excellent lore video! Warframe has such a deep, complex, interconnected lore that even trying to piece it together is quite the task. I'm hoping with Warframe 1999 and Jade Shadows we finally get some more answers.
So this has me thinking, whats that finger in our Railjack?
Better not lose it or else we would all die 😁
A wall of hands closing in? Who am I Yoshikage Kira?
Sorry who?
@@depressedutchman the villain of JoJo part 4
I understand wally finger being something like its really just one finger but existing in different places at the same time. That's why we normally get mentions of fingerS in plural but for wally he just lost one finger
The man in the wall sounds like the outsider from the Dishonored franchise... also a mysterious figure from the void that grant powers to people he finds "interesting "
Oh my god I just realized that Rell probably dubbed the Indifference “The Man in the Wall” because he takes the form of any man he comes across and is LITERALLY INSIDE the Wall of Lohk.
Hes also somehow connected to the reliquary drive at the back of your railjack
I think it was Yonta who talked about "finger relics", someone asked how many are there, and she says "not as many as the used to be, something something, as long as the originals are safe" or similar
Dude i love your lore videos i thouhgt i knew warframe and these opened it up more i love the connections you make to toher series shows and games and i love how you use in game things as a way to explain stud like the " rap.. tap.. tap.." it was awesome love you dude you have to keep making more and remember
"Excalibur was the first..."
I'm glad you've been enjoying them and I hope you're excited for more!
Digits are the bones in your fingers no? So if you lost a finger you lost multiple digits
no, the bones of each part of a finger are called falanges...
... he lost a finger in multiple timelines, and so far.. he's just missing one left...
Would the man in the wall be able to break the fourth wall when he gets too powerful and take over digital extremes?
And that last finger is the one we have in our railjack
My theory is that Wally is also prone to the effects of eternalism, and each time he loses a finger he jumps to a new timeline that hasn’t lost his finger. But the poor dummy keeps losing his damn fingers so now he needs to get them back so he can travel back to 99 to kill Albrecht.
We know the locations of at least 2 fingers off the top of my head; one in the Zariman and one in our personal Railjack. So he has 100% definitely lost more than one.
TWIST, he actual comes to our time. breaking the timeline..
WARFRAME 1999
I love how you play characters in your videos! You are very unique!
Thank you! I also find that the skits help me break down potentially more wordy or complicated bits into more digestible segments.
Wally - an eleritch patron
Tenno - warlock fighter multiclass
The patron has come to collect
Seems an apt comparison
And since the other one is on our ship, and we are the new Rell, it means Wally has functionally free access to that finger as well.
i was always under the idea that Wally ultimate goal is to enter Realspace, as during all of his encounters he seems to be confined ot the void and entities that are voidtouched with the Tenno being his most scuessfull deal where he achieved what he failed ot do with Albrecht: getting an avatar ot influence Realspace(heavy implications that the Tenno's real body is in the void and we lay as is merely an avatar made from the Void itself)
the digit issue seems to be the fact that while a piece of his true form exists in realspace Wally is confined ot experience time Linearly.

"Brain slowly processing on how royally screwed we are"
#@$% me...
Imagine we start to beat him and he's like "Alright, no more crossplay for you." and we all just get disconnected lmao
9:14 In my opinion, him losing multiple fingers during the portal closure had the effect of him losing A finger on his primary form. he’d need to recover all of his fingers to be whole again
I think the mention of multiple digits may also be referencing the fact they cloned/duplicated the severed fingers to use for the reliquary drives.
Balaas the only dude you know gonna double cross everyone and then triple cross the double cross just cuz he's bored
This explains so much, thank you! I didn't understand what the hell was going on when my character had a weird creepy clone showing up on the ship. Now I know its just the local eldritch horror trying to crack into our reality.
Yup! Just your local unnerving void uncle checking in. Don't worry about the random voices.
A bit sad you didn't talked about the most known thing about him,his speech ! "VOULL NE XATA VOK, MARA LOHK?"
Until recently we still didn't had a lot of clues about what it really was
Still a great video of course, really hyped for the every warframes video coming up !
I'll definitely bring it up in the Cavia video, and thank you for the kind words! Glad you guys are still enjoying!
Ohhhhh so that's why rell went nuts. Ye honestly can't blame him i would probaly just say fuck it after a week.
"Maybe having lost fingers means that it lost them in different timelines, and it is trying to get them back in each time line to complete itself once more."
i took thism ore inthel ines of, because he lost his finger at a specific point in time(when he encountered the Entrati) he lost this ability ot exist at all points in time and is now forced to experience time Linearly. This is probably the only limitation it still has andwhy his eal withthe Tenno is his biggest success.
My laptop broke some days ago and I havent been able to play warframe since. I have been avoiding all warframe videos since then to stop myself from missing it.
But damn i cant help but click your videos whenever i see them. Hopefully my laptop will get repaired by the end of this month since its in warranty.
Oh no! I do hope your laptop gets repaired soon! Hope my vids have provided some enjoyment amongst that!
