    Dude, I'm so far ahead of you. I've been fungibling your stories and interesting explanations of whiskey things as my own for months now. I usually end up pointing them to the channel at the end though.

    I mean, Is it bad that I'm using the knowledge I have gained in this channel to mooch? A co-worker was celebrating his birthday so we hit an Irish pub with few others. First order is from the birthday person, he orders chivas regal. I start to pull out some fun whisky facts, tips on how to drink and tasting notes. Everyone is impressed, so I order green spot as they don't seem very experienced. We were also sipping an irish beer with that so it seemed appropriate. Then it hit me. I was like guys I got you, and I ordered Laphroaig 10, knowing full well they wont be able to handle it. Well and that's how you get a free dram! Cheers mates.

    Can you two make a Christmas gift Video? One where you instruct on how to buy for the whisky lover in your life. For most people who aren’t enthusiasts, walking into the store and trying to get someone a scotch or bourbon worthwhile can be daunting. I think this would be a great video for your channel and for beginners.
    (Full disclosure: I really want you to make that video so I can share it on my Facebook and hopefully receive free scotch at Christmas time from my relatives.)

      This is when you join Pinterest and create a board called "Whiskies I'd like to Own". Then you make sure all your friends and relatives connect with you.
      I have a board called "All I Want for Christmas". Pretty sure that's how I ended up with a kickass camera lens coffee mug. LOL!
      If you have a favourite store, you can always let people know you accept gift cards :-)

    Since we are talking about rowing to Denmark, here's a great dad joke for you.
    A pirate walks into a bar with a ship wheel in his pants. Everyone sees it but avoids the subject for awhile until finally the bartender couldn't handle it anymore. "Sir, what's with the wheel in your pants?" The pirate responds in a thick accent "Argh, it's driving me nuts".

    Nice video. Ancnoc was one of the first whiskies I ever got. I was in Inverness Scotland and we walked into a whisky shop. We asked for whiskies that would be hard to find in the States, and the lady recommended the 12. I really liked it. I walked out of that shop with the Ancnoc, a Benromach, and an Auchentoshen. My buddy got Caol Isla. It turns out, none of these are so tough to find here, but I sure enjoyed being introduced to scotch in Scotland. Thanks to the US Navy!

    Dear Rex and Daniel (Or Daniel and Rex), I love watching the videos you guys put out, even to the point where I have an alert set on my phone for when you magnificent bastards post new videos. I am torn between the bourbon and scotch worlds as the friends I drink with have a spectrum of whiskey interest. I recently sat down with my Father in Law who is a big bourbon fan and successfully mooched a glass (or three) of Widow Jane Bourbon. I am a fan of all whiskeys, but for the first time I actually started recognizing different notes. I wanted to thank you for sharpening my senses to what I am drinking, and as a bi-product, have made me one of those guys you see occasionally with his nose in his whiskey glass. Cheers to you my friends! -From the Great White Upstate NY

    Rex is the malt master ... I've watched multiple reviews of AnCnoc 12, and Rex is the only one who mentions "iodine" and he's right. The non-iodine reviewers are wrong. Cheers!

    Man, I just bought a bottle of this for the first time and was blown away. It's so good and I've passed it up a million times. I think it's prob that the label is pretty plain and just doesn't scream out BUY ME enough. Which is a shame bc the juice is great and also extremely good value. I too looked up reviews immediately and saw others were also impressed. This is def a new go to whiskey for me and very interested in trying some of their other stuff.

    I totally do the fungible thing :-)
    Last month I was attending my regular Whisky Friday tasting, but the rep couldn't make it due to a family emergency. The store was busy, so the staff couldn't take time out to lead the tasting. I was familiar with the brand (having sampled it a few times and had talked at length with rep on previous visits), so I started leading the tasting.
    The conversation drifted into oaking vs aging, and I was able to spout knowledge gleaned from the channel as if I was some sort of learned expert. I thought about referencing Daniel, but decided not to.

Its amazing, thats all i get, and that is fine, its an amazing whisky for the money. Reminds me a lot of glenlivet nadurra first fill bourbon cask. Great great value from knockdhu

    AnCnoc is great, although I had 1 bad experience with the Cutter .
    First time it tried it it was great, although I have to admit that I had quite a lot to drink before I tried it out... My judgement might have been impaired
    The second time I tasted it, I couldn't get passed the taste of salt and the oily texture.

    anCnoc is distilled at Knockdhu. They changed the name of the whisky to anCnoc because the thought(think) that Knockdhu is too similar to Knockando, which is another distillery in Scotland.
    I have had the 12 and it's fine but definitely a starter whisky. I find it a lighter version of the much more maritime Old Pulteney 12, which I don't think you've reviewed?

    • @WhiskeyVault
      @WhiskeyVault  6 років тому

    Does whisky without an Age statement keep as long as a 12 or 18-year-old. Does it depend on age or is it just the ABV? Whisky in question - The Macallan # 2 for example?

    • @utoobia
      @utoobia 2 роки тому

      No difference with abv. Older whiskies can be more fragile when it comes to lots of air in the opened bottle over time. After a couple months, you can add inert gas to the bottle or just decant to a smaller bottle filled fully.

    Pound cake is a little bit boring. It's nice nevertheless but boring (pound cake with eggnog is very nice). I could never take the credit for things I learn here. I always quote and share the source of information. But that's also just a way to get everyone I know to love whiskey, so that in a distant future I might be able to mooch some whiskey from them.
