  • How do we grow from babies to adults? Why do our skin cells grow back after a bruising? How are we able to produce different organs as we grow from zygotes to embryos to fully-formed babies? The answer lies in mitosis! In this video, I explain the different stages of mitosis, the role of mitosis/mitotic cell cycle in living organisms and the importance of stem cells. As required by the Cambridge A level Biology syllabus, I also touch on cancer cells and how they are formed as a result of uncontrolled mitosis! Don't forget to pop any questions you have in the comments or share any interesting facts related to the topic!

      I wish you good luck in the AS exam! Make sure to practice your paper 3 principles, learn how to do the dilutions and remember the principles of enzymes and food tests. Also important for paper 3 is microscopy and how to draw the cells

    hi demi, I'm confused about the difference between chromosome,chromotid,chromotin. maybe chromosome is consisted of two chromatids ,chromatids and chromosomes are two tight forms while chromatin is in loose form?

    hey doctor, isn't it supposed to be the enzyme telomerase and not "polymerase", I'm confused. refer to 12:51 in the video. Or: is the telomerase that adds bases and the polymerase enzyme copies it? could you clarify pls?

    • @manahilkashif6480
      @manahilkashif6480 Рік тому

      Basically, polymerase is the copying enzyme and and telomerase adds bases to the telomeres

    Dr, i have a question usually in exams, how is stem cells question being asked? Do we need to mention totipotent and multipotent and explain how they works? Thank you dr🌈😍

    • @biowithdrdemi
      @biowithdrdemi  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, certainly you have to know the difference between the different types. The questions I have seen are mostly in the multiple choice paper, and sometimes as a 3 or 4 mark question in paper 2.

    Is it okay if we just read your notes instead of reading whole chapter of is it just the outline of the chapter

      Hi Angad, my notes are comprehensive and contain most of the information you need. However, I suggest trying past questions to identify any gaps that you can then fill up by checking the textbook
