It is very simple why something like this which is unique and simple to grow with 20 000 different ways of utilizing it as a product poses a threat to big corporations which is why around the 1930's they classified it as a drug even though it is a plant and they have known this for decades.....
This is a trillion dollar industry on the rise and this will be the natural progression towards buildings and now politicians wants to be on it, not because of the wonderful properties it poses for the environment and people in general but for the money.

How unfortunate that BOOZE which was illegal once upon a time was made legal after the Jews saw a way to make Billion$ off of illegally importing it across the border... yet when they saw the potential of Hemp as well as THC as a medical cure for many ills, they called it a Narcotic! ??? Morons. Mormons? (second "m" is silent)
Alcohol is FAR MORE destructive than THC and so many other things we consume. Booze should be illegal and anyone caught killing someone while driving drunk, should be put to death... like the next day. That would be proper justice.

@@user-gp1bt4vm3r the OC deleted the reason I said it was BS by editing the comment.... but what you said about it becoming petrified added back the BS....
1st its the lime is what absorbs CO2 in Hempcrete and it does not become petrified.... Also petrification only rarely happen to wood in nature due rare conditions that are required and it takes million of years.... and since the cellulose is replaced by minerals, so it would not "gather CO2" anyway...
As far "Hempcrete lasting a year outside without any protection", that fine if its allowed to dry out. Hempcrete is not used in basement walls where it can not dry out. And most ppl would want their expensive Hempcrete home to last for more than year. The lime binder will protects hemp hurd but eventually it will riot if it is constantly wet.... As long as you find a build that really know how to use Hempcrete its a great material. But it takes more than a few YT posts....

Hemp and cannabis are totally different.Cannabis users experience short-term memory problems; other studies suggest that cannabinoids impair all stages of memory. Young people who use the drug may be most at risk. A 2011 study suggested that memory impairment is more severe in adolescent cannabis users, and might even have a lasting impact. However, frequent users often become tolerant to the memory problems cannabis can cause.

they are in the same family is my meaning, but they are two distinct plants. i cut and pasted some info.
While marijuana plants contain high levels of THC, hemp contains very little of the psychoactive chemical. This single difference is what most rely on to distinguish hemp from marijuana. For example, countries like Canada have set the maximum THC content of hemp at 0.3%. Any cannabis with higher THC levels is considered marijuana instead.
In comparison, medical marijuana produces anywhere between 5-20% THC on average, with prize strains tipping the scale at 25-30% THC.
Hemp and marijuana plants contain another important cannabinoid: CBD. Hemp plants produce more CBD than THC, while marijuana produces more THC than CBD. Interestingly, research has shown that CBD acts to reduce the psychoactive effects of THC, separating hemp further from marijuana.
Cannabis is believed to be one of the oldest domesticated crops. Throughout history, humans have grown different varieties of cannabis for industrial and medical uses.
Tall, sturdy plants were grown by early civilizations to make a variety of foods, oils and textiles, such as rope and fabrics. These plants were bred with other plants with the same characteristics, leading to the type of cannabis we now know as hemp.
Other plants were recognized for being psychoactive and were bred selectively for medical and religious purposes. This led to unique varieties of cannabis that we now know as marijuana.
According to Dan Sutton of Tantulus Labs, a Canadian company that specializes in cannabis cultivation technology, “the core agricultural differences between medical cannabis and hemp are largely in their genetic parentage and cultivation environment.”
In fact, scientists believe the early separation of the cannabis gene pool led to two distinct types of cannabis plants. The two species (or subspecies) of cannabis are known as Cannabis indica and Cannabis sativa.

    • @creepyloner1979
      @creepyloner1979 8 років тому +2

how are you this stupid? all cannabis is a single species, with sativa, indica and ruderalis being subspecies and hemp being any low-thc plant cultivated for fiber or seed. marijuana and hemp are the same fucking species, same fucking subspecies, end of fucking discussion.

Higher r value, higher tinsel strength, and its fire proof! Also it will be constructed much quicker than a traditional home. Paired with solar and you've got yourself a energy positive home. Over here in holland some breeds if hemp are allowed for industrial purposes, nevertheless, since in holland we have a saying: If a farmer doesn't know the food, he won't eat it. And that's exactly what's wrong. People rather depend on what they know or get fed by the media, then putting their luxury and comfortzone at risk. They often refer to those things as "alternative ways". But in fact the most ideal ways of living, are the things the earth has to effer, and not a capitalist based substraction of a discovered fenomenon. Most of the freedom is based obn slavery and limitation of credits so to speak. The more you li9ve like they present you the more you become enslaved, you get more credits(money) if you obey, but if you loose the job, you get kicked back to almost nospace to live free, eitherway enslaved.

Can someone please explain to me why people call hempcrete "Sustainable". Yes, water is sustainable and hemp can be grown so hemp is also sustainable, but Lime mortar is not sustainable and it is one of the main ingredients in the process of making hempcrete.

One of my favorite questions! Hempcrete is actually carbon negative! It sequesters more than it produces to build with it. (Spray, shuttered & cast Hempcrete locks up 110kg-165kg of CO2 per cubic metre, depending on the level of compaction during construction & method of installation). This would be greatly increased if every state was able to supply their own hemp because it would decrease the carbon load of transportation. Furthermore it will sustain winds up to Category 5, Fire, rated suitable for earthquake prone areas, even better it has never been found to mold, mildew, or rot, & because it petrifies the hemp fibers as it cures insects & rodents...not to mention breathability is because of the various ways in which the built environment deals with moisture (water vapour permeability, capillarity & hygroscopicity), Hemcrete performs well in all these areas providing a healthy indoor environment. I haven't even mentioned it's amazing ability to maintain an indoor room temperature around 72℉ from 0-100℉! Believe it or not Hemp + Water + Lime mixed together make Fire, Mold, Termite-Proof, super-insulating, breathable, alkaline & energy efficient homes. And the price to build with hemp is around the same as regular construction with the added benefits of living in a healthier environment - better for you, your children & generations to come.
